  1. The correct term is "What are your favorite books"  :D

My favorite would have to be the Harry Potter series. It is hard to explain thousands of pages in a few sentances but I will do my best.

Harry Potter starts out as a 10 year old boy living with the Durselys, terrible people, on his eleventh birthday he is "rescued" by Hagrid and learns that he is a wizard, and that he survived an attack by lord Voldemort, the most powerful sorcerer for 100 years. At the end of his year at school, Harry comes face to face with Voldemort. Harry esacapes agian.

In his second year he faces a memory of Voldemort, however this memory is more powerful than he thinks, it can summon a basicisk, a giant serpant. Harry defeats the Basilisk and escapes agian.

In his third year Harry learns that his Godfather, Serius Black, was a crimminal who betrayed his parents, however it is the other way around, Black tried to stop the betrayer, but was framed for doing it.

In the fourth Book Voldemort comes back to life in full form (long story short) however no one belives Harry, with the exception of friends and teachers.

In the fifth book Serius is murdered   but not in vain, everyone realizes Voldemort is back.

The sixth book comes out July 16

this is a good series, very enjoyable, but you should label your posts early on if you're going to include spoilers.

    as for my favorites:

My favorite series would be The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis (the most famous of which is likely The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe). Good stuff and it heavily influences the Harry Potter series.

I'm also fond of Poppy Z. Brite's tales in and around Missing Mile.

My favorite books, individually, are Dodie Smith's 101 Dalmations, The Dictionary, or Poppy Z. Brite's Lost Souls.

  2. there's no winning in this situation. If you come up with a religion you believe in and tell people, someone somewhere will undoubtedly have some distorted notion of your belief anyway, so it won't matter that it has a name. They still won't understand really, because religion and faith are such personal issues. No one can really know just how you relate to god, or spirit, or life, or whatever. But if you don't have an answer, the same confusion follows.Pointless really.

  3. Someone gave me book 1 at Easter of this year. I'd never read any in the series before but I really got into the book. Now I own them all and have read each of them 3 times and I'm FIENDING for book 6. I think my favorite is book 4. I really like them all. Book 1 is so magical and wonderful, but book 4 makes me cry every time I read it, even though I've read it 3 times. It's just gutwrenching. Book 5 makes me cry too, but I have a hard time dealing with all the complaining and moaning in the early part of that book.

  4. I like this question.

5: The The - This Is The Day: I love this song because it has a great message and is fun to move too, but isn't overly sappy. Also it was in Empire Records! "this is the day your life will surely change, this is the day when things fall into place"

4: Damien Jurado - Desert: It's sad and beautiful and fun to sing--a rare combination. "I have seen the brighter side of the roads that lead to hell"

3: Chalk - Change: Because in years and years I've never gotten sick of it and it's dark and weird and it inspires me to write. "all of trapped on a page...all of us caught in a cage"

2: James - Five-O: To my estimation, this is the most honest and realistic song dealing with love. "Every answer found, begs another question. The further you go, the less you know"

1: R.E.M. - Exhuming McCarthy: I think this song is the most perfect song ever recorded but it is not necessarily my favorite song. I just think they nailed the balance between entertainment and intelligence. I love this song. "buy jingo, buy america"
