Problem With Rear Speakers AUDIGY 2 ZS problem
andrescasta replied to andrescasta's topic in Hardware Workshop
I tryed, but the problem continue, i want to know something:1)do you know a program that uses a microphone to setup your speakers? That program should create a sound from each speaker and, using the input from the microphone, set up the dB values for each channel i think (for example make rear speakers louder if they are too far behind). Because as i know, the manual setup console that creative labs uses doesnt work as it resets the values after each restart. 2) Maybe a little off topic, but worth trying: Do you know a program that can normalize your mp3 songs (it would be the best if it had some sort of batch processing, where you could select a directory and the program would normalize all the mp3?s in that directory to a certain level)? Because i want to get rid of the well known problem: when you copy some mp3?s to your mp3 player and play them, some of the songs play a lot louder, some have relatively normal volume and some play a bit silent on the other hand... and its impossible to adjust (normalize) EACH song in some sound editor... thank's -
Hi There, 1) I have the Audigy 2 ZS soundcard accompanied with Creative Gigaworks S750 speakers (btw. they ROCK!!!). All drivers for audigy are up to date. I have concerns regarding the Audigy CMSS function, that should make the mp3?s sound from ALL of the 7 speakers. The problem is that all the speakers sound OK except the rears, that have only about 10% of the volume the other speakers have (the games work absolutely properly in surround mode, in EAX for ex). And the problem is not in the surround mixer, all the speakers are set to 100%, the rears too... The CMSS is set to the SECOND option (makes the best results i think) and the speaker configuration is set to 7.1. And there is a slider in the right part, by which you can adjust the FADER, in other words you can adjust how much volume the front speakers will have and how much rear. And here is the problem, when i move the slider down, naturally the REAR speakers should go louder, but they remain the same and the SIDE speakers go louder instead, so there is NO way to increase the volume of rear speakers when listening the music (i use winamp 5, if that matters). All this changes (and works properly) only when i change the speakers set to 5.1 in the THX console, but that has no use for me (the sides are completely OFF in that case), as i have 7.1 speakers and so, naturally, i want 7.1 setup. And when you dont hear the rear speakers, you simply absolutely dont have the feel of surround CMSS sound and thats what worries me. So id like to ask whether you have the same problem or you know a solution that could possibly help me or other ppl with such problem. Thanks in advance! Really thanks in advance for ANY help!!!

Hi, About a week ago, one of our laptops has started having problems connecting with the router. The laptop is an inspiron 5100, xp home sp2, and the router is a netgear. The router's a couple years old and doesn't have wpa. The laptop will connect without encryption, but when wep is turned on, it will detect the network but can't connect. No software changes recently, and the router settings haven't been touched since it's been working. The only thing I can think of that might have changed the wireless software is an automatic update. I've tried system restore, but no luck. I reset the router as well, but no change. Any ideas? Thanks

Hello! I am going crazy for a silly little thing. Please help me anyone! The icon for ZIP files never shows the way it is supposed to. Instead it insists on displaying the Windows 'default document' icon for ZIP files. If I rightclick a zip and choose icon properties, I can set the icon to be fetched from the winzip executable instead, and all looks fine and dandy inside the properties dialog, but after refreshing or repairing icon cache it is still the default document icon that is displayed. If I try to change the icon enough times it will eventually start to display a miniature version of the correct ZIP-icon *inside* a normal sized 'default' icon ('default' this time, not 'default document' as above), a bit like as if the default icon was pregnant with a baby zip icon. This applies whether I have it set to display small or large icons. If I uninstall winzip and reboot, I get back to 'default document' icon. And then after reinstalling Winzip there is no change at all even though during install the ZIP files were supposed to be associated with Winzip. Doubleclicking yields a dialog asking for which program to execute with. After I associate it here with the winzip executable, the icon show up as default pregnant with baby zip. I get a feeling there is a hand of darkness resting over the display of ZIP file icons!! Somewhere tucked away in the registry there seems to be a mean-spirited little icon kidnapper sitting and holding on very dearly to the ZIP icon. What is wrong? I am going crazy!

Just recently I tried to get into the registry and a window came up and it said: (Something about an illegal instruction) then: CS:9fff IP:0054 OP:db ff ff c3 e7 Then I had a choice to either ignore or abort. I chose to ignore and then another similar one came up, again, the choice to either ignore or abort. Again I chose to ignore and another one came up. I think you get the picture. In total about 10 windows popped up one after the other. I just tried to open it up now to see what it says exactly, however, now the command window pops up for about 1/2 a second and then disappears. I remember one of the windows saying something about 16 bit window in a 32 bit window or something like that. To help you with this is my computer particulars: Windows XP Pro - Version 2002 Dell D600 I'm not sure what else I could tell you to help you with, so please let me know if there is anything else you need to know. Thanks alot for this. I can't beleive that you are all willing to take time out to help others and I just wanted to say that I think it's pretty cool.

I bought a DLink-524 wireless router, because I am getting another computer and a laptop and I wanted to share the network. I am running AOL with Broadband DSL which I have had for some time with no problems. Here is the setups (Like I said I am new to routers) DSL modem > Router > Computer (As the manual said). There is an ip to connect to to configure the router. I can get there no problem, and configure it (pppoe). But it doesn't connect. It seems that the only way I can connect to the internet is directly from the modem to my computer. Am I missing something here? All the cables and lines work, and I am up-to-date with my Firmware. I read somewhere that AOL doesn't like MTU above 1400, so it's set at 1400 (no Idea what it is). Anyone have any idea of what I can do here? I would gladly provide any/all further information about my computer to see how to do this. (Another NOTE: This is only the server computer, I haven't even begun the 'wireless' aspect of it yet)

There is some more information follow-up to share. In my first post, I hadn't remembered everything I learned from the day. For those of you that might think you can get by with "generated" keys, heed this: While trying to assess this offices' problems, I was given two separate messages at the update site and the validation site. One was that IE 6 was not the version expected; and the other was that Outlook Express was not the version expected. I can only gather from this (educated guess), considering the deep integration of these two programs with the OS, that the use of a counterfeit key somehow prevents the complete fusion between these three. Even if the owners' kid found a "hack" around the validation site, IE and OE will not update! This businessman is going to wind spending double or triple to fix his problems than what it would have cost him to go legal in the first place. If he doesn't, he will be operating with poorly maintained comps as far as security is concerned. Before I wrote this, the latest prices are $50-$60 for Home & under $100 for Pro (as per Price Grabber). For goodness sakes, unless one is poor, that is not a lot of money for a pretty decent operating system.

I've just come from a new prospective customer's office. I was called in to troubleshoot why his machines (six), were rejected in getting updates. I did not set up his units. This, I must share with our community here. After being initially LIED to, I finally got the truth from one of the gals. The owners' son set up the office. Talked dad into saving some bucks by not buying six copies of XP Pro. He borrows a friends' XP and comes in with a "GENERATED LIST OF PRODUCT KEYS". He proceeds to install Pro on all the machines using the counterfeit keys. Now, each installation program eventually accepted one of these; and the initial Activation process obviously let it through as well. The problem comes in retrieving Updates. Microsoft has a "Validation" screen one must get through before the patches can be downloaded. This extra check point retrieves the key, using a keyfinder utility, from the Registry, and cross-references it to a legally issued list of Product Keys. (Servers can hold an awful lot of data). The program determines the bogus nature of the comps' key, and denies access to the updates. Firstly, I was flabbergasted that a business owner wouldn't want to be legal software-wise; and secondly, to have a problem with an $850-$950 layout? It might have even been less if they called M$, and asked to "buy" five additional licenses. I think you can get a discount in that scenario from the retail box full-version price. I never cease to being amazed at the colossal stupidity of some people!!!! I got paid my 2 hours min; but I walked away from this low-life and his business.
