Today, I turned my computer on like any other days...
When the "log-on" window had problems with the loading, I understood immediately that my GFX card had problems. When my computer had loaded everything, I checked my screen properties... Even if the resolution was normal (but the screen was too much on the right), it showed that my resolution was set to 480x640, and the colors was on 8 bits. (but the screen had the normal resolution (1280x1024) and the colors was on 32 bits!)
I clicked cancel, and then my screen was set to 480x640. strange...
Well, I turned it back to 1280x1024, and now the card seem to work again...
If someone is wondering, it happened some months ago too...
it think it should be the driver problemtry to install the driver again
if not ok, try to reinstall window

I want to overclock my computer, and I thought if I was to upgrade the BIOS, then maybe I could. The whole thing is it is a prebuilt, and as you (should) know, you cannot overclock a prebuilt. So, my question is, if I upgrade the BIOS, could I overclock it? Thanks for anyone who helps me out.
yesbut how do you get the bios which can be used to overclock?
it is hard to find such thing although it is very usegful

Ok, I am aware that it is possible to take a normal DVD-ROM, and by switching the drivers, since it uses the same laser, change it to a DVD-RW... Since with today's market where I live, that would save me between $60 and $200, it really sounds like an intrigueing offer...
My question starts like this... Where would I find the drivers to make this transfer come from thought to reallity? How do I go about transfering the drivers safely? An once it is done, does anyone know the ratio as to speed differences? Like if you are using a 54X DVD-ROM, what would the DVD-RW speed be, etc... Anyways, if someone might be able to get back to me on this with what they know or have done when you get some time, id appreciate this... thanks...
i don't think this is possible because there is some chips in the driver.it is different for DVD ROM and DVD RW

(Sorry if I posted in the wrong place but I wasn't sure where to put this, move the topic if in wrong place, thanks).
I have this random problem with my pc, and it randomly happened. I turned off my computer normally at night and came back the next day. I tried turning on the computer and it came up with something saying like windows could not open and came up with choices. Either I start the comp in safe mode, safe mode with prompt, with the setting that last worked best, or just start normally. None of them work! It comes up with the loading xp thing, (the logo with the three bars moving across the big bar, you know, the three bars can be blue or green depending on home edition or proffesional version xp) and then it keeps stopping at one point and then restarts and comes up with the choices of how to open my computer again and whatever choice I choose, it just restarts again. I dunno whats wrong with it, if any of you know what it is and how to sort it out please reply
(And for you people who are wondering how I made this post, I'm using a school computer)
I think the most efficient way is to reinstall your computerthis can solve most of the problem

Ok, heres my situation... I am going to be going to school here in the fall to get certified in Oracle and Java...
To help excel that along, I am going to be buying a new laptop here shortly... I was thinking about purchasing a totally tricked out and customized (down to the last detail) Dell Inspiron 6000 D (the one on the Right if you go to the page)...
From what I know about PC's, if I customize it correctly, I can get a pretty good payload out of it, and be able to efficiently use it for schooling, gaming, etc...
Does anyone here know of either a better bang for the buck, or just a better one in general? Totally customized how I wanted it, with a wireless router and 256MB flash drive, it came out to just over $2,100... well, lemme know... thanks...
This one is good, cheap and fastin addition, the dell's conputer is very good~
notice that you must have 512M RAM in order to run smooth
