Microsoft visual studio 2008 express edition is out! (a long time ago)
It contains ± 80% of functions of the full version.

Yes, MCafee is usefull but you need to buy each your a copy and fully reinstall it.I would strongly suggest to use Mc Afee free online scan, at least for diagnostic purposes.
Of course, if you use it too often, you will be gently asked to buy the product. But at least from time to time, it's really useful.

I use 3ds max 2008.It's easy to use and the auto key function is handy ( i don't know if this is a regular function... ) .But if the scene is too complicated the rendering is slow.So i vote for 3d studio max.
