Strange Thing I Saw Anyone know what it could be?
FuChelle replied to FuChelle's topic in General Discussion
The time I went to bed was sometime between 12 and 1 am, which is about the time I normally go to bed. I don't remember being very tired, but I think I may have been a little more tired than normal. I don't remember watching anything unusual on TV. I remember it was a Wednesday night, so I would have watched The Glass House, and possibly The Kumars, which are both basically just comedy things. I didn't watch any movies. After that, I remember I was studying, using the computer and a text book, and listening to music through my stereo. I dunno if any of that will help out, but anyway... I have also heard that. It's very interesting how most of these weird things can have such normal explainations. I don't quite remember the reason for it either, but I think it's along the lines of you wake up paralysed, you're scared because you can't move, and because you're asleep you're mind is still producing images like a dream. Very weird... Anyway, like you said, that's not what happened. I don't know what it was...I am thinking since I don't believe in ghosts or UFOs, that I was just tired. Although, I do believe that there are some strange things in this world that we don't quite understand. So...yes...I don't know. At least I have some ideas now though. -
I am using 1% of my Gmail space. I've had it for just over a year now and never deleted anything....except junk mail. They keep adding more space too, so I'm never going to use it all.*Looks at all that space going to waste*

Strange Thing I Saw Anyone know what it could be?
FuChelle replied to FuChelle's topic in General Discussion
At the moment, I think I'm leaning toward what Spectre said. It's true, when you're tired your eyes can play tricks on you so it could have been that.I know I couldn't have been asleep previously and had just woken up. I was sitting up in bed, and the light was still on...I hadn't turned it out yet. And I don't get to sleep that fast.I wasn't really that scared either. It happened so quickly, I don't think I got the chance to get scared. It was all over in about 2 seconds. I have had my heart skip beats before (although not that often, so it would be a fluke if it just decided to happen just then) and you can feel it.Oh, and Acidify...nobody in my family has died...that I know of. There was an old lady that lived here before us though and she died here. I don't really believe in ghosts though, so this is all really strange to me. -
Since there seems to be a fair few people here that are interested in the paranormal and unexplained, etc... I thought I might post this here and see what everyone thought. This happened probably a couple of months ago and I've just become interested in what it could have been.I was sitting up in my bed...I was just about to go to sleep, when I saw this thing just about 2 metres away. It was a little white ball of light, only about the size of a tennis ball, hovering in mid-air. It flew up and did a loop, and then came back around and flew straight at me. I closed my eyes just before it got to me, and then at the time I estimate it would have hit, my heart skipped a beat. Then I opened my eyes, and it was gone.I have no idea what it could have been. At first I thought I was seeing things and it was just my imagination, but it was weird I felt my heart skip a beat right when it hit, and I've never halucinated or anything before. I also don't believe in ghosts or UFOs or anything, so I think this is really weird.Anyway, does anyone have any ideas or anything on what it could have been? I don't think I've ever even heard of little light balls appearing from nowhere, so I have no idea what it was. I just think it will be interesting to hear thoughts and ideas from other people...even if you think it's my imagination, you could be right

My mum used to be really into diamonds and knows a fair bit about them. She heard about these manufactured diamonds a few years ago. Apparently, from my understanding, when they cut the diamond, they cut it so it has a very small flat edge around the rim of the diamond, and engrave the numbers into there. You can't notice it with the naked eye, but if you magnify it, you can see it.I think you can also have natural diamonds engraved similar to this so that if they ever get stolen, they are able to be found again.

I was wondering that myself... Also, what if the CD gets dirty? Do these CDs have a wrapper on them or something so you don't end up eating dirt and dust and stuff when you eat the CD? This is just too weird. I would also like to know what flavours they come in, and how long before they go out of date?

For this story to make sense...and for those of you who may not know, I thought I should tell you all that I am a girl. Now with that said, on with the story...Ok, so the other day my family's computer broke down (it needed a new hard drive), and since I am the only person in my family that really knows a fair bit about computers, it was my job to fix it. Not that that's a bad thing. It can be fun fixing computers. So anyway...In the search for a new hard drive my mum, brother and I went to this computer warehouse type thing where they sell all sorts of gadgets and computer parts. So, we ask this guy there if he has this a hard drive that will fit into our computer...and then the most annoying thing happened. The guy kept talking at (and only at) my brother. I felt like I was invisible. I was so annoyed, I almost walked away. I swear just a few seconds longer and I would have! Here I was trying to ask this guy questions and explain what was happening, and he wouldn't even look at me. He would answer questions I asked while looking at my brother. Then he would ask other questions while looking at my brother. My brother would answer his questions but only knew the answers based on what he already knew from me explaining to him and my mum what was going on. I'm kinda annoyed at my brother too for not telling the guy that it wasn't actually him who was fixing the computer, but anyway. Then, this guy started going off on some weird tangent saying something about maybe it's not our hard drive maybe it's this program...or maybe you need this program blah blah blah...I kinda tuned out since wouldn't even acknowledge me. My brother was just standing there like "yeah", "yeah", "ok" pretending he knew what was going on. In the end I just got so annoyed I just said in this kinda raised, probably annoyed voice exactly what we needed and why, and he just goes "oh" then showed us over to what we needed and walked away...never came back.It was so annoying. I've heard of other men that won't look at women when talking to them. It's happened to my mum a few times, and I have heard her complaining about it. Now I know what she means. It made me feel stupid. Like I was a useless, brainless girl that couldn't possibly know a thing about computers. It sucked!!...to say the least.So...yes. Guys, be warned, please don't do this. Unless you really want to make a girl mad! Girls...have any of you here experienced similar to this? Or I guess the situation could be reversed. Are there any guys here that have tried talking to girls who wouldn't look at them? If you haven't, trust me, you don't want to.Back to the computer (if anyone's interested) it's fixed now. I went somewhere else and got what I needed, brought it home, and fixed it all up. ALL BY MY GIRLY OLD SELF!!!

Halloween And Christians Its origin and, should we celebrate it?
FuChelle replied to wild20's topic in General Discussion
I had no idea Halloween originated in Ireland and Scotland. I always just thought it was an American holiday. Oh well. You learn something new every day!Anyway, being Australian, I don't really celebrate halloween. I don't think anyone here really does....Not that I've seen anyway. And after reading all that (and being a Christian), I'm glad we don't. I can respect if other people do it, but as a Christian, I think that for me to celebrate it would be wrong. The whole message of celebrating and praying for the dead may have become a bit clouded over the years, but it's still there. That's the whole reason why halloween was started. Without it, there would be no halloween, so that's why I think it's still wrong. And now celebrating halloween for the purpose of getting candy showing off cool costumes is promoting greed and vanity, probably amongst other things, which both go against the teachings of the Bible. So either way...whichever meaning you celebrate halloween for, it's still wrong. And no matter what country you're living in, if you are a Christian you should always take the Bible seriously. There is no such thing as taking the Bible too seriously! God does not look more or less favourably apon you and your sins just because of the country you live in! Someone here said something about that but I couldn't find it again to quote...Anyway, those are just my oppinions. I believe that although the Bible may be hundreds of years old, it is still relevant to our modern life. I feel given the meaning of Halloween, it is wrong for Christians to celebrate it. However if anyone else wants to celebrate it I'm not going to stop them. It's personal choice I guess to some extent. -
I have never heard of a Chupacabra before. Very interesting. I like hearing stories about mythical things such as Yetti's, Yowies, Bunyips, the Loch Nes Monster etc... and this. I don't believe it...the picture is obviously a fake...and I doubt that it would be able to breed with a dog. Different species just can't interbreed like that. Still, it is very interesting.I have heard of Vampire bats that drain the blood of cattle. Maybe someone saw one of those, didn't know what it was and so they made this thing up.

Wow! Whoevers computer it was is really lucky that no-one else found it first. I could never even imagine being that careless with my information. I would guess that the previous owner didn't know that much about computers, and when the power supply wasn't working, they just figured it was all completely useless and just chucked it, not realising it could be fixed. You're also very lucky you found it. You got a free computer!Onto the privacy issue, I'm with you. I'm very careful with all of my info. I have a system with my email addresses and stuff that I'm signed up to, and their passwords...they're not all different but I try to make it so no-one who knows one of my accounts can get into another one using the same password. I'm also very careful with the info I store just on my computer...I have a certain family member who has a tendency to go though and check out everyone else's info that they have stored on the computer...Very annoying, but I guess in a way it's good because it makes you more aware of ways in which you can protect your own info.Whoevers computer you found is very, very, VERY lucky! Jugding from what you found on the computer, they weren't aware of what other, less honest people, can do with them....or they just weren't expecting someone else to be able to pick it up and use it.

The last time I drank milk I think was when I was 8. I've never liked milk but I used to drink it very occassionally just for a change...and then I don't think I ever could drink the whole glass. I am actually allergic to milk, so I shouldn't really be drinking it anyway. And if I eat cereal, I'll eat it dry. People think I'm weird for doing that o_O .During the last few years, my mum has turned into a real health freak, and won't even use cow milk in cooking anymore, so I never get any milk at all...unless it's in something I buy already made. My mum will use soy milk in cooking. A lot of people think soy milk tastes disgusting but I actually think I like it better than cow milk. I think maybe I am just strange...

Do You Think That Friday The 13th Is Bad Luck?
FuChelle replied to karlo's topic in General Discussion
I don't believe that Friday the 13th is bad luck. It's just a normal day like all the others. If anything bad happens to anyone on a Friday the 13th then it's just a co-incidence. Bad/unlucky things can happen on any day of the week, just like good or lucky things can happen at any time.I think it's silly too, some of the things that have been done to accommodate for those people who do have a superstition about the number 13. Sonyguy mentioned about the missing 13th floor in some buildings. They also do this on planes and trains...they will skip the 13th row of seats and go straight to 14. I remember once when my family was coming back from a holiday, everyones seat was in row 14...except for me, I had row 12. We all thought there would be a row of seats between us but when we got on there and I was just in the row in front of them. For the whole trip, I kept looking at the aisle numbers and it was annoying me that whoever made the plane couldn't count properly. Now, if we all develop a fear of the number 12, then 11, then 10, they'll have to skip those numbers too and pretty soon there'll be no rows left. *nods* -
It looks kinda cool. It's so thin though. I'd be scared I was going to break it! Especially since it looks than other iPods (although, I know it's not...it's just skinnier.Call me old fashioned, but I still prefer my 3G iPod. It's bigger, thicker, it doesn't have a colour screen, but I don't need to view pictures on it, and at least I know I'm not going to break it!

It sounds like a good idea, but I think it would come down to the price. The cost of the device would be impractical for some people, so they wouldn't buy one and the problem would still be there. The best idea would be to warn people (and by that, I mean the whole community), but even then they would need the money to be able to get out.

What Are You Willing To Give Out? How much info?
FuChelle replied to wild20's topic in General Discussion
I guess the amount of info I give out depends on how much I trust the site. Normally I will only give my email address (which is a seperate junk mail address I use just to sign up for stuff), my first name, user name, and country. I will normally give my state too, since the states are so big there's no way anyone's going to find me just from my state.I would never give out my phone number, street address, or social security number. There is so much that people can find out about you just from this information. Trust me, they can do way more than just call you and pay you a visit. I've heard about people's houses getting broken into (I know someone this happened to!), and even people getting murdered because of info they gave out on the Internet. Probably not by people who run web hosts, but it still doesn't hurt to be careful. I've also seen sites asking for peoples credit card numbers for FREE hosting!!! There is no reason for free web hosts to ever ask for your credit card details! -
If You Had A Terabyte Hosting Pla what would you do with it?
FuChelle replied to Saint_Michael's topic in General Discussion
I don't think I can't even really imagine what I would do with 1TB of space!I think I would sell most of it off because there's no way I would ever use it all. Then with what's left over, I would host my own websites on there, and a few for friends. Actually, I thought of something! I would divide it up between all my friends and we each do whatever we want with our own space. I would host my websites, and all the pictures I have to share with everyone. And I might have a few other files on there to share with people. I'd have a forum on there too where we can all talk. Basically it'd just be like a like a little web community/file storage/webhost (with a LOT of space) for me and all my friends. -
Hi specter, welcome to Xisto! The web hosting may seem too good to be true, but just wait till you get it and you'll see it's VERY true!I hope you enjoy your stay here. As you've already seen, there's lots of interesting topics and people on here. Everyone's really friendly too, so if you ever need help or have questions, there'll always be someone that can help. Have fun!

Do You Have Stairs In Your House? I am protected.
FuChelle replied to Velveteen's topic in General Discussion
I don't have any stairs in my house. There is a small staircase out the front of the house though to get onto the verandah, and out the back there is one step as you go out the back door. There is also a sorry excuse for a staircase leading down to the shed/garage...it's about 3 steps in stone that are all different shapes and sizes...and they're not even level. Lucky we don't get visitors that have to go down them all the time. -
I have seen this before. It's very funny! Not all girls are evil, but I agree that a lot of them are.

Poll: What's Your Eating Style? Alone, semi-alone, or in a group?
FuChelle replied to Kim's topic in General Discussion
I usually like to eat with people around me. Eating gets kind of boring for me when I do it alone. When there's people around though, you don't really concentrate that much on eating because you're too busy concentrating on the conversation. Or sometimes I'll eat while watching TV, where concentration is more on what's going on on TV than on eating. -
Your Name In Chinese what does your name in chinese look like
FuChelle replied to snlildude87's topic in General Discussion
This is cool! I've always been interested in different languages, and I'm always interested to know how my name looks in other languages. So far I have my name in Japanese and Korean (from foreign exchange students I befriended when at school). I have never known my name in Chinese before though...until now. (my name is Michelle by the way) Thanks for the link Snlildude! -
This sounds very interesting. I'll have to remember to try that whever I get nervous about something. This would have been good for me to know in high school because I used to have to do a lot of speeches and stuff in front of the class for English and History, and I used to get REALLY nervous before them. Now that I'm at university, I don't really have to do speeches anymore, but I'm sure this will come in handy for the odd occasion when I do feel nervouse...like maybe going to the dentist for a start. *shudders*

Have You Ever Seen A Ufo? I would like to know
FuChelle replied to wild20's topic in General Discussion
I have never seen a UFO, but I know people who have. I know someone who got photos too. I know a lot of pilots, and this one guy I know got I think 2 (at least) photos of this plane being followed by this round ball thing. The same ball is in 2 photos, at 2 different places in the photo, so it couldn't have been a mark on the camera lens or something. I actually don't believe in aliens, but to see something like that in a photo was really strange.I think a lot of what people see can be explained quite rationally. A lot of them could be secret military intelligence planes that no-one is supposed to know about. Others could be just shooting stars or comets or something. I know someone else who actually claimed to see a ball of light in the sky one night. She rang the cops too...a few times. They told her she was nuts and to stop ringing lol. But we found out later that what she actually saw was a comet that had come really close to Earth. The public weren't told about it until after it had passed because they didn't want anyone to panic and think it was going to actually hit.I've also read in a book somewhere, that a lot of the UFOs are objects that have been created by witchcraft etc. I don't know how true it is but the way the book said it, it sounded quite plausible. They went into all this stuff about demons and how they trick people into mistaking them for ghosts and aliens. They also said how the devil gives his warshippers special powers that they can create these things that people see and think they're UFOs. I can't really explain it that well since it was a while ago that I read the book, but it was quite interesting. Even though I don't believe, UFOs and all the supernatural sort of stories and things have always interested me. -
I don't drink, and I never ever, ever will...ever. I once had a little beer when I was very young, and I got drunk, and I remember it really messed me up so there's no way I'll ever touch any of the stuff again...unless it's in cooking, but cooking it gets rid of the alcohol anyway.I think if someone chooses to drink, and they drink responsibly then that's fine. I've actually heard that something like a glass of red wine a day is good for you, so I can understand why people do it. When you go overboard though and get drunk, then it's a bit much. Especially when someone does it regularly to "drown their sorrows"...they're just making things worse for themselves.I also think it's a little sad when teenagers throw all these parties with alcohol. I've never understood why they do it...except that it's the "cool" thing to do. I've always said, you don't need alcohol to have fun! That's my opinion anyway...
