I, unlike most of the responders, like using Roxio much better. I think it has much more useful tools. Roxio Videowave and DVD builder are the only two programs I can even find that come close to matching iMovie and iDVD's abilities. I think as far as just burning goes, Nero is the right choice, but if you want to have a complete package, I would go with Roxio. Although updates are few and far between, when they come out, they usually cover all known problems. If you buy the complete version of Roxio, it's definetely more bang for your buck and you can get free upgrades until the next complete shift up (i.e. 7.0=>7.1 is free, 7.0 => 8.0 not free), but even when they shift up, you get a great discount.Roxio Lover,Sam

Newbie Questions Upgrades and Maintaining
miakelye replied to miakelye's topic in Web Hosting Support
Thanks so much for your answers! I'm pretty clear on how this works now. The whole suspension (0 credits), termination (-30 credits) and reinstatement (4 credits) seems very reasonable. I think this is perfect for me.I do however have one last question. How are posts scored? It seems like posts that have a lot of words are obviously scored higher and those posts (if you want free webspace) are reviewed, but do you get points if someone replies to your posts or topics? Because the whole point is to promote discussion. That would seem to make sense. Thanks for all your responses,Sam -
I have 3 major questions about this service.1) Once I have gotten a site, how often do I have to post in the forums in order to maintain my site. That is to say, how many credits do I need to keep a Service Pack 1 site up.2) Whatever x number of credits I need, couldn't you just get accumulate those credits and then not have to keep posting? Say the number is 5 credits, couldn't you just get 5 credits and then never post again or do credits diminish over time? When do credits diminish?3) What do I have to do to get an upgrade to Service Pack 2 with 150 MB disk space? Are there specific requirements or is it an easy thing to do, once you have Service Pack 1. If it isn't trivial, could you please describe how? Thanks a lot,Sam

I've decided I want to make the switch from Windows to Mac. So, when I heard Mac was coming out with a new operating system and Powerbooks (which is the computer I want to buy) were getting upgraded to G5 processor in later Quarter 2 of 2005, I thought great that's for me. I've been checking Macrumors.com almost everyday since and it looks like the time table just keeps getting pushed back further and further. If anyone has some real information on when they think Powerbook G5's are coming out or why they're getting delayed, please respond.Sam

I have used both Windows XP and Mac OS X Panther. I must say that I would take Panther over XP any day. I started out a Mac user and then switched to XP when I found out it had much more compatible programs. The programs, however, were mostly junk. I plan to switch back to OS X, not only because of the superior operating system, but because iLife is included. iLife is a great series. As far as the operating systems go, Mac OS X is much more stable. OS X is unix based, so it crashes far less than Windows. The system itself is much smoother and there are cool features like Expose and the Apple Dock that make using your computer much easier. The best feature about Panther is the simplicity. The computer as a whole is much more user-friendly than Windows XP. That is why I am switching to Apple as soon as a PowerBook G5 comes out. Hopefully sooner than later.

10 Cents A Search? is it true u have to pay
miakelye replied to jaybird92185's topic in Search Engines
The one problem about Google AdWords is the fact that they have to approve your site first. Granted, they can't be wasting advertisers money, but I had to wait 3 months for my first site to be approved and then, my second site, which was perfectly legitamate, was not approved. I got a letter back from Google saying that a message board site was not acceptable. But I had seen site like bigsoccer.com, with just that. So all I have to say is, make sure your site is flawless before submitting it to Google. -
I agree with whoever said that lol has lost all meaning. It does not mean that you're laughing out loud, it means you are acknowledging someone's joke. So that's why my friend and I have tried to create the new phrase "ayj". AYJ stands for Acknowledge Your Joke. If you want to use lol, go ahead, but only use it if you're seriously laughing out loud. Otherwise, just say ayj and it's a way of not being rude, but not going all out. AYJ is like the online version of the fake laugh. The worst, however and I know this is sort of a different topic, is when people say LOL in everyday conversation. When I'm talking to my friends and someone decides to say LOL, it pisses me off so much. Why can't you just laugh? Are you seriously that disconnected from the conversation that you're thinking about throwing in an AIM phrase? People who use AIM lingo in everyday conversations can eat dirt. But seriously, use AYJ. It could be great.~Sam

Does anyone else feel like Google has gone overboard with their artwork? I mean, it used to be only on special holidays or commerating great people/achievements. But now, it seems like every other day I go to Google and there's some Google artwork. If you don't know what I'm talking about it's on the frontpage of Google and on some "special" aka irrelevant days, they make artwork out of the Google letters. I could be wrong, but National Library Week is exactly an interesting holiday. Am I the only one who feels like Google could cut back on the artwork?
