  2. When Yang Lan was serving as a bidding ambassador for the Olympic Games, her main task was to introduce new Beijing and its culture. Now she focuses on promoting Olympic culture in China, producing and hosting Olympic programs on TV.

Beijing 2008: You participated in Beijings two bids in 1993 and 2001. How did you feel on the evening when everyone was celebrating the one-year countdown to the 2008 Games?

Yang Lan: How time flies! I feel quite lucky that I took part in the two bids. They were important experiences in my life. Now Im more confident in introducing Beijing to the whole world.

Beijing 2008: There were two completely different scenes in 1993 and 2001, when China lost and then won the bid. What are your unforgettable memories of the two bids?

Yang Lan: It was quite shocking to me when we lost the bid in 1993 for hosting the 2000 Games. There were many misunderstandings about China in foreign countries, and we knew too little about them. Many foreigners thought that Chinas bid was only a governmental move, instead of representing a wish of Chinese people. And the government then thought misunderstandings could be cleared if many people were mobilized to express our passion. However, our communication was not effective.

The successful bid in 2001 was a national honor, and I felt extremely excited and proud. People were jubilant and cheering: nobody noticed that I made a mistake in saying a persons name when hosting the celebration party.

Beijing 2008: When you took part in the second bid, your younger daughter was only three months old, and you had to leave her at home. Have you ever told her about this?

Yang Lan: She is in primary school now. Her grandmother and I told her about this, and she laughed, Oh, I had made contribution to the Beijing Olympic Games. But I still feel sorry for her.

Now she and my other children are all interested in sports. In my spare time, I like to play tennis with them and watch cartoons such as Tennis Prince with them. I really hope that I can I can take them to see next years Games.

Beijing 2008: You were responsible for the statement on Olympism and Culture, about how China promotes Olympic culture and how Chinese culture enriches Olympism. How did you make your presentation?

Yang Lan: My statement used ideas from many experts, including He Zhenliang and PR consultant from Australia. We discussed how to express our ideas in a way that would be more easily accepted by foreign judges.

At the beginning, I wanted to talk about The Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon as the introduction, because tiger and dragon are powerful creatures in China. But Mr. He and the Australian consultants disagreed, saying the two creatures were sometimes considered evil in the West. Later we used the example of cuju, a football game in ancient China.

I fell that the biggest change comes from Chinas economic development. We feel more confident and have more effective ways to communicate with foreigners.

Beijing 2008: What do you think of Beijings preparations for the 2008 Olympic Games? What are your suggestions for improvement?

Yang Lan: Ive written in my blog that the 2008 Olympic Games have gained wide support from the government and the public. I believe there will be no problems in terms of hygiene, traffic and venue construction. I hope people will pay more attention to their manners and to cultural traditions. What weve done today is not just for the Olympic Games, but more for ourselves and descendants.

Beijing 2008: In your opinion, what kind of impression will the Beijing Olympic Games leave on athletes, officials, and spectators from around the world?

Yang Lan: I think the most important things to do to leave a good impression is to have professional organization of competition, good services, and a comfortable environment in terms of infrastructure and culture.

There will be tens of thousands of overseas athletes, officials and tourists. It will be a good opportunity to introduce China to the whole world, but there are possibilities that our shortcomings will be seen. I think there will be praise and criticism, both of which we should be happy to accept. We should exhibit the real China, which will be more helpful.

Beijing 2008: You are a woman with a successful career and happy family life. How do you plan your time?

Yang Lan: Its indeed a difficult question. Recently Ive read an American book Secret, in which psychologists and writers all believe that a strong desire can become a reality. I agree. As when people have the will, they make their best efforts to realize it. Often, one tells their family members or friends about this, and they get help from them.

When one has a strong desire to do something, the second important thing is to plan the time. I ask my secretary to help schedule different sections of time for different people. For example, every day I have special periods of time for my children. I try to dine with friends and customers at lunch time. Dinner time belongs to my children and me. If meetings have to be held late, I prefer them to take place after 9 p.m, as I can accompany my children to watch cartoons and make handcrafts. I try to limit my business travel time within one week every month. I find that if wont be so difficult to manage the time if one plans well. I believe there can be a balance between life and work.

  3. Joy in living comes from having fine emotions, trusting them, giving them the freedom of a bird in the open. Joy in living can never be assumed as a pose, or put on from the outside as a mask. People who have this joy don not need to talk about it; they radiate it. They just live out their joy and let it splash its sunlight and glow into other lives as naturally as bird sings.
We can never get it by working for it directly. It comes, like happiness, to those who are aiming at something higher. It is a byproduct of great, simple living. The joy of living comes from what we put into living, not from what we seek to get from it.

  4. Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love. Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment. When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help. Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,"Richness, can you take me with you?" Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you." Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!" "I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered. Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you." "Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!" Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her. Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder, Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who Helped me?" "It was Time," Knowledge answered. "Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?" Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."

  7. 1. Wherever natural, eliminate pronouns and replace with descriptive nouns.
The idea with this tip is to help the search engines identify the semantics of your article. Nouns help specify your article and also reduce the noise-to-signal ratio. For the most part, think of pronouns in the same way as clunky, excessive HTML code -> they keep your article from reaching it’s highest potential.

    2. Choose Highly Descriptive Titles For Your Articles

This is not news to most of you, as it is the most heavily emphasized optimization strategy around. However, I usually add a few pointers such as the fact that in my experience an ideal title length is usually 4-7 words long. The title should accurately reflect the content of the article, but also hone in on the most important keyword phrases.

Instead of “She’s Hot Like That…” you might choose “Scarlett Johansson Looks Hot As A Blond”

    3. Reinforce Your Headline Keywords In The First Paragraph

So you’ve chosen a rock solid headline. Well, you shouldn’t stop there. In the first paragraph of your article, you should supplement your title with:

    A) an exact phrase match of a portion of your title (Every guy in the world thinks Scarlett Johansson looks hot.)
:P an additional sprinkling of keywords (But as a blond, Scarlett isn’t just hot…she’s smokin’)

    4. Aim For Articles That Are At Least 150 Words

The thin content penalty can hurt. But having too many diluted words can hurt too. For newsy items I generally recommend 150-250 high keyword density, low-pronoun words. For how-to and reference articles, I generally recommend 500+ words. With 500+ words, it’s easy to overdue the keyword optimization, so to avoid unnatural pattern penalties I usually keyword load in every 3rd paragraph. Everyone has a different opinion on these items, but the important thing is to be mindful of the importance of article length. By trying different techniques out, you’ll eventually find your sweet spot.

    5. Promote Your Article With Keyword Anchor Text

I’ve been doing some tests lately and I can’t overstate the difference it makes to acquire even just one link to your article. So the most important thing is get links. But almost as important is to get links with anchor text that matches the keywords in your article title.

The good news is that social media networks provide a quick and powerful way to start your promotional campaigns off. A link from Digg or Propeller can do wonders to push your article up in the SERPS. And the more people who vote for your article, the stronger the backlink ends up being.

But the work doesn’t stop there. Encourage others in your blogging community to use your post as a springboard for commentary. Every blogger is looking for writing topics, so a well written article is often well accepted. Over at College Startup, if someone sends me a good, well written article, more often than not I comment on it. My number one struggle is coming up with things to write on…so when someone else gives me the framework within which to write, I’m very appreciative.

    6. Encourage Conversation

Every article you write is an opportunity to engage in conversation with your readers. There are many ways to encourage conversation, but the most important method is to explicitly request comments. Make it clear that you value your readers’ opinions. Ask them what they think. A provocative question at the end of a post can spur on some fantastic dialogs.

    7. Make it easy to subscribe

You may not know it, but you really do want to build a base of feed subscribers. A feed subscriber is much more likely to return to your blog in the future. If you really want to get fancy, you might also consider starting up a monthly newsletter by building up a base of opt-in email subscribers. In either case, each of your posts is an opportunity to encourage people to subscribe. Whether at the top or bottom of your posts, a big bold call to action is in order.

Ok. So those are my 7 tips for maximizing the effect of your blog post.

  8. Brief introduction to the speaker :Oliver Wendeil Holmes (1841-1935) Oliver Wendeil Holmes, Jr., was known as ?the great dissenter?. In 1902 President Theodore Roosevelt appointed him an associate justice of the United States Supreme Court. He served until he was almost 91 years old.In this symposium, better is it only to sit in silence. To express one?s feelings as the end draws near is too intimate a task. That I would mention only one thought that comes to me as a listener-in: the riders in a race do not stop short when they reach the goal, there is a little finishing canter before coming to a standstill, there is time to hear the kind voice of friends, and to say to oneself, the work is done. But just as one says that, the answer comes the race is over but the work never is done while the power to work remains. The canter that brings you to a standstill need not be only coming to rest, it cannot be while you still live. But to lives is to function, that is all there is in living. So I end with a land from a Latin voice who had heard the message more than fifteen hundred years ago:death, death, clutch my ear, and says, live, I am coming.

  9. Creative gratitude is an attitude. It is magnetic and will draw good to you. It is good therapy, a road to happiness.Thankfulness is a way of living more fully. Be thankful for your health and you will have health in more abundance. Be thankful for the love you receive and it will be increased. Be thankful for your success and you?ll open doors to further achievement. Be thankful for your friends and more friends will come to you. Be thankful for beauty and you?ll experience it more deeply.
