How long can a person last without food and waterHow Long Can A Man Live Without Water? My brother in law has started the dying process on Friday, 10/16. He has pancreatic cancer at the age of 49. He went without food for 4 days prior, then on Friday stopped drinking water. By Friday night, had lapsed into a coma. His breathing became so slow that it was only coming in gasps 2 breaths per minute through the weekend. He's been medicated with morphine, adavan, and atropine all put under the tongue as he cannot swallow. he had no measurable blood pressure, and his heart rate was 130. The nurse said his heart would get tired, and he'd go. On Monday, he was so far gone, very still, and looked as if he'd expire at any moment, but he did not. On Wednesday, 10/21, his blood pressure had returned to 80 over 60 and his heart rate went down to 89. I put the phone near his ear so he could hear his son speak, and a tear came out. It looked like he was trying to say something. When I asked him if he was in pain, he blinked at me...To be sure, I asked if he needed some morphine, and he raised his eyebrows! This morning, his wife said she wanted a kiss, and he tried to pucker up. At this point he is 11 days without food, and going on 7 without water! He has had no bowel or kidney sounds for over 4 days, but yesterday, he had urine in his diaper. Should we call in a doctor to reassess him? What does this mean? -reply by Jalishelly

Pet/animal Care Forum Online veterinary advise
iGuest replied to kashvet's topic in General Discussion
Fur matting on CatPet/animal Care ForumHello and thank you. I have adopted 5 cats and 2 dogs on my acreage. I have them all neutered and spayed. Blue, a Tomcat of approximately 10 years has longer fur. He is semi feral and difficult to handle at times. He is allowed in the house and is inside all winter. All the cats except for my 21 year old tabby go in and out all day long. However, I am having a hard time keeping Blue's coat free from mats. I try to snip them out when he is feeding but it is difficult as he will bite or scratch me. We live in a rather remote area in Canada and there are no groomers, nor would he allow being handled without sedation. He was neutered last year and the vet shaved him. Now his hair is grown out and he is having the same problems with a lot of matting on the back, sides and chest area. How do I tend to his matted fur without hurting him or me! And he gets matted very easily and very quickly. This is serious as the matting causes the skin to tighten and it is very uncomfortable for cats. I have rescued cats and removed matting on their backs as large as a fist. Can you suggest some way of treating him either with food to help his coat stay unmatted or?????? Thank you for your help. -reply by Christine -

some tips on acneBest Ways To Reduce AcneI found these tips useful for myself, sharing them here. 1. Stop popping the spots, also known as pimples and zits. This may make the pimple look worse due to inflammation and irritation. Popping a zit can spread infection under the skin and produce even more pimples than before. If you do pop a spot then immediately clean it with soap and water or rubbing alcohol in order to prevent infection. If a pimple erupts in a particularly bothersome place, learn how to target a single pimple. And if you're determined to pop, learn how to pop a pimple safely and properly. If you do pop a pimple and you want to avoid anything resembling Western medicine, one thing to try is put a mixture of honey and ground cinnamon on the spot. Put a band-aid on it also. You may also want to stay away from stress. 2. Use a mild soap Make sure it is not comedogenic - and does not contain such ingredients as Sodium Laureth Sulfate. 3. Remove dead skin cells regularly by exfoliating. Use a gentle scrub with natural defoliants like ground walnut shells, or use an over-the-counter chemical defoliant like salicylic acid or glycolic acid. Adding ground walnut shell to a thick moisturizer like cocoa butter can be effective too. Take caution, because over-exfoliating can actually increase the likelihood of acne by irritating the skin. Pat dry, rather than rubbing, since rubbing can cause irritation to the fresh skin you've just revealed. 4. Use a good toner. Spray onto face or wipe on with a cotton ball and wipe off with a clean, dry cotton ball. This gets rid of excess cleanser and tightens pores. Good, inexpensive choices include plain witch hazel for normal to dry skin, lemon juice, or 3% hydrogen peroxide for oily skin. 70% ethyl rubbing alcohol can also be used for severe oiliness, but it can really dry out your skin and irritate it more. Some toners are medicated, and this stage is the best for using a medicated product if you're only going to use one medication. 5. Dermabrasion removes the redness. A simple natural home remedy for this is to use the skin inside of an egg shell. Google "dermabrasion with eggs". 6. Bacteria in pores is one cause of spots. Reduce the amount of bacteria by using toners containing anti-bacterial agents like alcohol, peroxide and benzalkonium chloride, and by using creams that contain benzoyl peroxide (ask your doctor about benzaclin, with moisturizer if you have dry skin, as it works better than just plain benzoyl because benzoyl takes up to 8 weeks before improvement is seen) which kill bacteria as well as cause the skin to regenerate faster. 7. Maintain a routine. Most acne treatments take time to work. It usually takes between two and eight weeks before you see any significant improvement, so you are going to have to be patient. Once you've gotten your acne cleared up, it's important to continue with the treatment that's working so it does not return. 8. If all else fails, contact a doctor. Mild antibiotics that are available only by prescription can help reduce acne. Keep in mind though, that the widespread overuse (taking antibiotics when you really don't need them or for something they don't treat) and misuse (not taking medication for the specified amount of time) of antibiotics has led to the development of multiple antibiotic resistant bacteria. That means that the antibiotics won't work for the things they used to (including your acne). 9. Keep hair off of your face if at all possible. If you want to keep your bangs, then consider taking showers regularly or keeping your forehead clean with oil-dabbing cloths / clean tissues / etc. 10. Get good sleep. Stress increases your skin's oiliness, which, combined with sweat and dirt, can clog pores and cause pimples. (Change your pillowcase frequently.) 11. Acne medications may cause your skin to initially break out worse than before because all FDA-approved acne medications (benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, blue light therapy and sulfur) are causing your skin to regenerate faster. This brings existing acne pimples already under your skin (but not visible yet) to the surface, which in turn causes a massive but fortunately temporary break out. Give the medications time to work -- about one to two weeks -- and you will notice a big difference in the quality of your skin. Thanks Austin Strickland -reply by Austin Strickland

iMac G5 display problemMac G5 Monitor Goes BlackSame exact issue. Unplugging all cable and restarting computer usually brings the display on. Perhaps there is cross-over between cables and video out on the iMac that causes USB or FireWire cables to be mis-represented as video out and the signal goes to video out?? I have had this problem for one year and just restart restart until it comes back on. I have checked capacitors for leakage, video settings, reinstalled OS's and updated to Leopard now. Still the problem of waking from sleep and restarting/turning on computer will still give me black display (as in off). -reply by Neverhadapc

Resolution Keeps Changing To 800x600 After Restart
iGuest replied to WeaponX's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I have the same problem except I change it to lower resolution and 16 instead of 32 because I can't see the little letters and it hurts my eyes. I don't do anything but log off user and it power down to rest only, not off, and when I open the top it comes out of rest and automatically it changes back to highest resolution available... I can't see it... And have to go back into the control panel to change it. It's a bother -reply by Diana -

I have two computers in my room which are stranded from the rest of the computers in the network because the main router/switch ports are full... What can I do? I am thinking of buying a wireless usb lan adapter and installing it on PC A, and just attaching an ethernet cable from PC A to PC B. Would that be possible? @ SupriyaTwo Ways To Create A Dll(.dll) In Vb.net Part 1I beleive this is possible but the OOP method of encapsulation would be required. you shoul be able to hard code a second class right into the one code file perhaps like this: Public Class fatherPublic name as string Public Class progeny public name, gender as string End Class private child1 as new progeny public sub dysplay msgbox(name & " has a child. The first child is " & child1.Name & " who is a "& child1.Gender) end sub End Class This could be simply used by the following: Public Class Form1 Imports father dim dad as new father public sub main dad.Name = "richard"Dad.Child1.Name = "hanna"Dad.Child1.Gender = "girl" dad.Dysplay end sub End Class Well I may not be right but I think atleast the basic idea is correct, anyways. Thanks a heap shadow the information on making and using dll's is scarce and scattered but this is very simple and oh-so needed, ive learned alot. Thanks Nekroze -reply by Nekroze

You know, I have played every single NFS except for the orginal and I have got to say that Most Wanted is my favorite. I has a great story line, the graphics are so-so, and the gameplay is very enjoyable. I do have to say that I also like NFS Hot Pursuit II which was the last of the true NFS where you race high end sports cars.

Disk Read Error I keep getting a disk read error...
iGuest replied to spacewaste1405241471's topic in Hardware Workshop
You are not alone man.. I also encountered the same problem with my pc. I formatted my PC using a kill disk then tried to reinstall windows XP. but after it has completed the stage where u install it in bios mode and the computer reboot.. U will eventually encounter the same problem again.. Ive already tried to fix it by installing different OS. Tried windows XP. Vista and 7 the only difference in vista than xp is that vista halts somewhere in the middle of the installation due to unknown error, while in xp cannot read disk(the same problem after reboot). I feel hopeless for this case tho. Guess there is no choice but to buy another HDD -reply by jessan -

I have a question...Automatic Login Ok so this is probably what was causing it... But the previous owner of this computer (because I'm on an online schooling program that provides a comp for me... Which surprisingly can handle really high end games like gta 4 and cod 4 lol) anyways so it would automatically log on for one of the accounts. I deleted all other accounts and just made one for me.. And ever since it would come up with an error wrong password thing when I would try and log on and I would have to choose a different profile and that's how I would get on mine. But sometimes it would display that error message for about half a second and then just go to "windows is starting up" and get stuck there. I want it to go straight to the welcome screen rather than trying and failing to log in to one of the other accounts. So I did the Start >> Run: control userpasswords2 thing but instead of setting it up to log into mine I checked the box saying "users must enter a password to use this computer". I don't want to restart my computer because sometimes it takes like 20 mins of starting and restarting my computer JUST to get it to finally work right, so do you think this will have fixed the problem??? -reply by Brandon

Forgot The Wireless Wpa/wep how to find it bacK?
iGuest replied to tklee87's topic in Computer Networks
Jennifer, you said "It still shows the old password (I can tell by the number of dots)" Some models will display the same number of dots all the time, regardless of how long the password originally was. This is a security feature (so people can't tell how long the password is). You've got nothing to worry about (unless your connection still doesn't work, in which case it's not the password that's your problem). Just make sure all the other computers are configured with the new password as well. Regards, FriendlyZen -reply by FriendlyZen -
