  1. Lastly, there are so many great alternatives that people underrate because the iPod is so popular.

Name a couple of 'great alternatives.' I like iPods for it's durability and plus, from model to model, they haven't raised the prices. If fact, you get more for you buck.

    Model - Year - Price

    First - 2001 - $399, $499

    Second - 2002 - $399, $499

    Third - 2003 - $299, $399, $499

    Fourth - 2004 - $299, $349, $399, $449

    Fifth - 2005 - $299, $399

Each model growing in gigabytes for the same price seems very generous to me.

Since October 2004, the iPod has dominated digital music player sales in the United States, with over 90% of the market for hard drive-based players and over 70% of the market for all types of players. During the year from January 2004 to January 2005, the high rate of sales caused its U.S. market share to increase from 31% to 65% and in July 2005, this market share was measured at 74%.

I think Apple is doing quite nicely :P

  2. How big is infinity? The word infinity comes from the Latin infinitas or "unboundedness." It refers to several distinct concepts (usually linked to the idea of "without end") which arise in philosophy, mathematics, and theology. The symbol for infinity is the little sideways eight :PIn mathematics, infinity is often used in contexts where it is treated as if it were a number (i.e., it counts or measures things: "an infinite number of terms") but it is a different type of "number" than the real numbers. There are quite a few different uses for infinity in several languages such as calculus.Say if X equaled infinity...this means that X grows beyond any assigned value, and when X equals -infinity, X is eventually less than any assigned value.Source: Wikipedia :PHope this answered your question(s).

  3. Still, it provides fun entertainment when people find out they've stopped working. Most end up being thrown across the room or used as a small football.
Personally I would recommend any Creative player as a replacement - they sound perfect, and no-one I know has ever had a manufacturing problem with one. The only problem was someone making their own charger for it and trying it out - the result was a small bang and lots of smoke!

Whenever I get CDs in the mail, I toss them across the yard and play frisby with my dog :P. My sansa's heavy, cheap plastic probably would have hurt my little pup. Then again, CDs can act as papercutters at the right velocity.

Small bang, eh? Maybe I should try that out :P

    Thanks for the sympathy :P
Not sure about the double post though.

  4. I saw on the history channel last night that they could have made saws by placing a heavy, coarse stone on top of the said block they wished to carve then have oxen pull the coarse stone with a series of rope and something to hold the stone up. They showed some blocks from way back when with such precise cuts that no hand could have carved it.Also, I think they said the romans had a similar method but it was water powered and had multiple blades.

  5. I wish I had a credit card to get a paypal account personally. Well, I do have a debit card and just haven't activated it yet. Curse my laziness :SAs for paypal and charging money, they're just trying to make some money.Like wariorpk said, "Paying $6 to get $200 is not a big deal at all. Would you rather drive or fly to where the money is. It would eat up your $200 thats for sure." (He also had 666 posts at the time lol). You could also try mailing the money but I wouldn't think it to be as trustworthy.

  6. When I first saw the cpanel [5 secs ago] I just stared at the account information and drooled. At first, I was like, wow look at all the pretty 99s then I thought, what the heck am I going to do with 99 subdomains? I'm thinking about getting/buying a domain and parking it here the service and server are so nice! It's so nice that I don't have to remember annoying site names to find the cpanel. I can just type http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. Eek! There are so many awesome things at the cpanel that--actually I'm going to go look now.

  7. Who here hate smokers?

I'm neutral at the thought of smoking because the person might not be able to quit smoking and I also feel for the innocent around smoke.
I wrote a paper on second hand smoke and no, it's not worse than 'the smoker himself smoking it.' Why are you indicating it is a male smoking?
One thing you could do is discourage the smoker by pointing and gagging while holding your nose and then proceed with running away. Their reaction makes smoking worthwhile. :P

  8. What the hell is their problem?

    1.) They weren't expecting you.
2.) They wanted to get jiggy and didn't think about children.
    3.) The 'protection' broke.
    4.) They're normal humans.

Well, maybe someday you'll be lucky enough to become a parent and have your kids hate you too.
    I can't hold grudges either :P

  9. conal, what model did you have?

I believe it was an e250, not sure what an m250 is unless you mean model 250 or still e250 :P
Eh, it's the 2 gig one.

I'm jealous that yours didn't break [sarcasm]. :P
I've never had ear buds before and don't plan on getting a pair. They hurt my ears. :P

The only reason I bought the sansa and willingly sledged it was because I bought it for $50 on discount.
Plus, I've got a free Zune coming in the mail :P

  10. 4/10 on Twilight PrincessThe game was incredibly easy! I beat it within the day after I bought it. The graphics weren't as great as I hoped for and ALL the puzzles were extremely easy. I could just be getting older and wiser but I don't remember the games being *that* easy. The howling stones and new skills were a nice add-on but kinda random to through in. It made killing monsters a little more interesting than just swinging your sword and making your arm tired.

  11. "I had watch a program on the History channel about video games a few years ago so I vaguely remember why tetris became a copyright problem, so I went to wikipedia (yeah I know bad place to go), but with what they had about the problem I would say they were close to what the tv program mention."I also saw that on the history channel pretty recently. It dragged on for almost an hour but I couldn't help but watch it because of my love for Tetris. Apparently some other company thought that they had the rights of Tetris and owned it. They went on distributing the product until, I guess, Alexey complained. I think he didn't sue and made out with none of their money. He works for some big company now. I remember him drawing blocks for some idea of another game on the show.I loved filling up the screens with the blocks and listening to the music speed up :P

  12. Runescape used to be a great game until they split it into two sections. Now theres the 2d version and the 3d version. If you want help, you can check out runescapecommunity.com. And don't try hacking because that will just get you banned and that not good lol.

They never split it into two sections. They just updated their servers for better graphics (hard to tell lol), and room for more gameplay. There is no two dimensional version of runescape. There is no way to go back to the old version of runescape also known as runescape classic unless you still have an active account in RSC. The only split version of RuneScape I know about is members and nonmembers.

  13. It's a decent game, but friends who had the game time traveled, cheated, and made the game pointless. What's the point of playing a game if you can get all the items instantly and have infinite money? Sure it's cool, but only for a few minutes. I usually only play a game for the competition against friends. I guess the game is pretty good to kill time such as in car trips."About the WiFi, do you have to use the silly friend codes, or can you just go to random cities and meet random people that you can interact with. Also is the DS microphone thing compatible with it? What I mean is, is the extra acessory that you can talk to other people with it compatible with the game?"Yes, the silly friend codes are back to haunt you. It's pretty hard to find somebody else's friend code unless you sign up for a forum or join another community. No the DS microphone is not compatible with it. No you can't talk to other people with the DS microphone or an accessory. Depressing when you learn that your hopes for a game turn out to be false :P

  14. Well I got the little mp3 player from some store. I thought it was pretty neat as it was my first mp3 player. While riding in the car, I glanced over at the sansa while I was listening to it and the screen cracked right in front of my eyes. I don't know how the heck it happened other than it must have been cheap plastic. The crack didn't obstruct the screen too badly so I kept using it. Then after a week, the left ear of the mp3 player stopped working. I tried switching headphones but it stopped outputting music from the left ear. So, I bought a pair of headphones with a mono switch and it worked fine. The quality was worse and it was embarrassing to be seen with a little cracked mp3 player. Then after another week, the sansa screen wouldn't turn on, only the buttons would light up. I tried turning it on while it was in the charger, etc. I used my sansa as a night light for less than a week but then felt so angry that I took a sledge hammer to it. It shattered quite nicely in a wide array of cheap plastic.Don't get any form of sansa (SanDisk).

  15. This website should point you into the right direction on how to fix this problem, and although it has to do with opening applications, the solution should still be useful when booting your computer.

Well, I couldn't quite get it to work. I'm not sure where to get the Instmsi.exe file mentioned in the tut but I have a Windows Installer 3.1 v2...Which apparently was only an update?

I tried the temp folder and the c:/temp/filename.exe \c thing anyways but it still didn't work. I was only prompted with the setup of the installer and a display of some switch commands.

    Thanks for the help :P
More help would be greatly appreciated :P

  16. Whenever I start my computer I get a message about windows installer. I click cancel again and again. After about 10 times the message goes away but it is still tedious to put up with. Once it is gone, I can continue with my regular routine. At the bottom of the screen, where the windows installer tab thing appears, Microsoft Word appears first then Windows Installer overlaps the tab/window thing (I don't know what they're called).

  17. Is Msdos.sys file only available in win9x, i am using winxp and this file is not available in winxp ... is any other file winxp used.

The file is in windows xp. Just go to the C drive and click on WINDOWS. It helps to set the view to list and the files are in alphabetical order. No point though because the same [Options] mentioned in the first post are different to that of windows xp.

  18. Thanks! I've already tried a couple of these suggestions and my computer is running better already. Took me a few hours to defragment my computer :PWhen I started the defragger, the whole screen lit up in red (indicating fragmented files). :PAs a result, it said it's performance was 50% better. Also I heard getting more random access memory can help too. I need some more of that :P
