  1. I happened to go to the midnight release for the 7th book. Normally I wouldn't do that... I can wait without a problem, but it was just to hang out with friends for a couple hours(while waiting around for a book). It was pretty interesting because the line was ridiculously long... people were camping out and... it started raining. I turned to be part of the unlucky couple hundred people to be waiting outside. Now... where I live... when it rains... it doesn't drizzle... it doesn't just in general 'rain'... it pours. Hard.

Now, this would be the point where I would be running around in the street like a maniac, sticking my tongue out as if trying to catch snow. And of course, my friends would usually be the ones to join me, taking pictures. But no... they were too worried that we'd look like... weirdos. That kind of irked me... because we had a groups of people dressed up as witches and wizards with lightning bolts on their foreheads, and wands at hand... humming the harry potter theme song right next to us... and they were worried that we'd look... weird? And to top that... those people were pretending to cast spells on eachother. I definitely felt like the only sane one there.

    Sorry for that unrelating story.

I did buy my copy of the book today and I havn't started reading it yet... but i've heard some pretty amazing reviews about it from my friends- and i'm about to leave the computer after posting this just so I can start it.

Normally, it takes me 5-6 hours to read the book. So i'll post my review afterwards.

  2. Wow, that's pretty interesting. I would love to be able to make my calls to France free... but buying the device, in my opinion, isn't really worth it. I think i'll stick to buying international phone cards and getting charged a few cents a minute :D.I know that the price of the phone cards will eventually add up to the price of the Ooma... but it's just the fact that the person you're calling has to have the device as well... that's just not a trend that's going to happen anytime soon.

  3. Wow. I think i'll be seeing polka dots for awhile. I skipped over the sunglass warning :D.Not my favorite thing to stare at, but the client get what they want. Understandable. In general the site looks really descent. I love how the top logo toggles as you pass your mouse over it, and especially the falling objects. One thing, though. The words are really hard to read against the background you have it on, so you might want to work on that- just a suggestion. All in all, you did well.

  4. Well gmail seems to be that popular one that is authentic and easy to use. It seems to be the fastest AJAX version of mail compared to AOL, Yahoo, and the ugly Windows Live Mail. But isn't that just a bit too bizarre... there seems to be so many features... what is Gmail missing? Google is such a large and rich company, what are they not going to be able to afford. For one thing Windows Live Mail certainly is missing a lot... no POP3 no mail forwarding and really crappy unattractive ads that take up half the screen. And it doesn't let you chat on your Windows Live Messenger inside the mail interface etc. Yahoo mail isn't better, its confusing and slow interface really made it a hassle for new users and definitely wasn't favoured by a lot of people, who quickly switched back to the old, but ugly layout. Same thing with the old and ugly hotmail.
So what do you think Gmail is missing?

Some things I notice are folders. Sure in the web 2.0 era, people use tags or "labels" instead of folders am I correct? Gmail is for those web 2.0 saavys, not the myspace wannabes who use hotmail, right? Well surely enough, Lifehacker and all the popular web 2.0 geeks use Gmail and use it very very effectively.

So I still don't know what Gmail is missing...

    What IS it missing?

I'm not sure what Gmail could possibly be missing. It's got everything I could possibly ask for in an email service. It's a clean and simple thing to use- no confusion required :D. It has an invitation system... but people are giving them away freely. No lonnng email viewer that scrolls down for ages, you simply click on the message to view it and click it again to hide it. You can see who's online and talk to them right on the page. It's a pretty convenient program.
But I have heard of gmail having slight bugs and glitches... but I havn't experienced them myself.
I have no complaints about it as of yet.

G-Mail's missing something? I didn't know... They are the best E-Mail service on the web, even if the "Spam" folder stands out too much. If it didn't say how many spam emails you had and it wasn't in bold, that might make it better. One other thing... I would like it if they had a chat client, like AIM or MSN, as a separate program.Cause I chat a lot on that, and I also like to see what I am doing, like playing a RPG that times out, or something. My 2 cents.

Gmail does have a chat outside of the mail system. Google Talk. It's an okay program, not the most favorite, but it's more useful than having to stay on the gmail page while chatting.

  5. I've been using gmail for awhile now, and out of all the email services i've signed up for, gmail is by far the best. With my previous email accounts with yahoo, tons of spam have made its way into my inbox, and it's mostly my fault because I do throw my email address around the internet, but it still should be able to detect spam. With my gmail accounts, i've rarely found spam in my inbox and i still do throw my email address around as much as I did with my yahoo address... the spam emails always find their way into my spam folder :D.I have several gmail accounts for different things, and spam's never a problem. All I can say is that if you want to recieve less spam, just watch where you decide to give it out.
