What do you want to do with your new computer? Get work done or constantly try and keep your computer working? Get a Mac. I made the move to Mac over 6 years ago and have never looked back. The arguments over price don't hold true when you look at what you get. Security, performance, applications (such as iPhoto, iDVD, iMovie, iCal, iTunes, iSync, Mail), ease of use, unix robustness, etc. There is plenty of software available for the Mac.
