  1. SUPER SMASH BROTHERS...BRAWL!!!This game will be for the Nintendo Wii. It is definitely going to become one of the best games ever. Featuring all the old characters like Link, Mario, Pikachu, Kirby, Yoshi, Fox, Samus it also has a ton of new character such as and including:-Zero Suit Samus-Pit-Meta Knight-Wario-Solid SnakeIt will have many new arenas and probably online play as well. It will play a lot like the older versions which were some of the best games ever. Plus Online Play was confirmed but the maker of the game, Masahiro Sakurai, said maybe they wouldn't include it but he hopes they will. It can be controlled using the Wii Remote, the Wii Remote and the Nunchuck, The Nintendo GameCube Controller (wireless or wired), or the nintendo Wii Classic Controller, but he suggests using the Nintendo Game Cube controller because it has a really really powerful rumble! There are also many new weapons: teh Gooey Bomb, which sticks to characters like gum and explodes, plus there is the Cracker Launcher which launches a really big rocket for MASSIVE damage! All in all, I already give it a 10! GO NINTENDO!Oh and I forgot, there's also the pokeballs that were in the old one, but this time they'll have a lot more Pokemans! Notice from jlhaslip: Merged posts. 2. Although this game is a few years old, the game is worth purchasing. For graphics fans, the graphics are good, even since it was one of the GameCube's first games. It is quite a good jump compared to the N64 version (Super Smash Bros. is a good game, too and probably took advantage of the graphical capabilities of the N64 to the greatest extent possible at the time). For fighting fanatics, it's not your average fighting game. Instead of a limited amount of health that can't be recovered (Soul Calibur 2 players are excused), there is a percentage meter. The higher the percentage, the more of a chance that your character will get knocked out of the arena and start over. Even beginner fighting fans can play this game because of the characters' moves simplicity. The most anybody will ever see as a combo is the B-button and a analog stick direction. As for stages to fight on, they are plentiful. Want fast-paced? Two F-Zero stages are for you. Feel like retro? The Game&Watch stage is for you. Feel like mountain-climbing? The stage based on Ice Climbers is for you. There are various modes, each and every single one fun. Collect trophies of Nintendo characters of the past, present, and future (when the game was released, now we can't say K.K. Slider has not encountered Americans yet anymore) by achieving certain things throughout the game. Play a match with limited health in a stamina melee. Play the way you want to play in Training mode. Live one-ninth of a cat's life in All Star Mode, where you get three Heart Containers to use, if necessary. Play through a mode similar to the original Super Smash Bros. in Classic mode. For baseball fans (and everyone else), see how far you can hit a sandbag. On another subject, there are a variety of characters to choose from including Marth, Roy (both from the Fire Emblem series), Samus, Mewtwo, Ganondorf, and nineteen others. Each character has a uniqueness. Falco, for example, (I just told another character) is not as fast at the blaster as Fox McCloud is. Pichu (another one I just revealed) damages himself when he or she (who knows?) does electrical attacks. All in all, Super Smash Bros. Melee is worth it. You can get it very cheap, around 20 dollars, now, and its playable on Wii too! A great game to pass the time as you wait for Metroid, Mario, and Brawl.
  3. Category: AdventurePlayers: 1 playerRelease Date: Jan 22, 2007Publisher: NintendoDeveloper: CING INC.ESRB Rating: Teen (T)Hotel Dusk: Room 215. From the guys who brought us Trace Memory, one of the older DS titles, Cing pulls off a simply superb DS adventure. Hotel Dusk can be described as an interactive novel, and what an amazing interactive novel it is. From start to finish, Hotel Dusk (Which will now go by HD) is a story of mystery, lies, and betrayal. In HD you play a guy named Kyle Hyde, a former NYPD officer in his 30s who now works as a traveling salesman for a company called the Red Crown. Besides going around selling junk people don't want, Kyle also works in a side business ran by his boss Ed, finding things their clients can't. This brings Kyle to Hotel Dusk in December of 1979.However, there's more then this. In the introduction we find out about a guy named Brian Bradley (who goes by Bradley in game), Bradley is Kyle's former partner from the NYPD, however he has been missing for the past three years, Kyle has memories of shooting Bradley into the water, however, he sill believes he is alive. Throughout Hotel Dusk you will wonder why Kyle made that shot, and why he must find Bradley.Upon entering Hotel Dusk, Kyle will meet quite a couple of very interesting characters. At first they'll all look rather normal, but it doesn't take long to realize not everyone is what they first appear to be. HD balances out the timelines for character development very well. It won't be as if you know every secret about everyone ten minutes after talking to them for the first time. The game will only allow you to learn a bit about them at first, but over time they are tied into the story, this not only boosts the character department, but aids the story very well.As a detective, naturally you ask questions, and search for clues. That is basically what HD is all about. You will search every little corner of the nicely sized hotel for information and items you need. Then you ask people these questions to progress the story. This all sounds rather simple, but it is actually rather difficult.Searching is set out nicely, a little button on the bottom of your touch screen will flash when you're near an area you can check out, simply tap it. Then by using either a little scroll bar or the control pad, you can look around the area. Find something you want to check out, and double tap it. You will either then receive the item, or get a description on it. What makes it a bit more difficult though, is there's a lot of items you can search. It's not just a couple of items through out the hotel. It's more like a five areas in each of the rooms, with about four items in each of he numerous areas. If you don't know where you need to go, this can prove annoyingly frustrating.Asking, and finding questions isn't too difficult. When talking to characters, Kyle may think of a question from the things they say, you will then have to choose one of normally multiple questions available to ask, later on in the game you will usually have to pick one of two choices a bit after asking the question, depending on whether you say the right or wrong thing, you may get a game over. Also, you can use items in your inventory, these can help progress the conversation or bring out some secrets of the person you're talking to.Puzzles are nice in the game. Some are difficult, but after you complete them you'll figure out it's easier then you thought, you just have to think for a minute and you'll usually be able to get it. Puzzles often use items found in the game, though sometimes you just need your trusty stylus. When playing HD, you hold the DS sideways, like a book. This is also done in Brain Age. From there you see the two screens (obviously). When walking around and everything, the touch screen will be an overhead map, while the main screen is a 3D view of what Kyle sees. When taking to people, Kyle will normally appear on the main screen, while the other person is on the touch screen. There's always some buttons in the bottom corner of the Touch Screen. These are: A door, person, notebook, and magnifying glass. They'll flash when you can use them.On the overhead map, you control Kyle with the touchscreen. Simply drag the stylus along the map and Kyle will move there, it works very well, I haven't really found a problem with this at all. As said earlier, when investigating. The same works for the door, you can either double tap the doorknob to open the door, or double tap the door itself to knock on it.The graphics of HD can divided into two part. Conversation graphics, and well, non conversation graphics. When talking to people the graphics are simply beautiful. The characters are drawn out in black and white, although they still move, it looks brilliant. They also feature a large amounts of expressions, so they're not always in the same position. Along with this, a background image of the room is featured, which is a nice addition.Outside of conversation, the graphics are still pretty nice. The touch screen map is done well, with clearly marked characters, doors, and other items. The 3D map is where the problems come though. For the most part it looks great, however there are two little things that could be better. When you walk up really close to a wall, it just looks all bad and messed up. It's like taking a picture off of the internet, and zooming up on it with MS Paint. It doesn't look right. Also, the characters are bad looking. They suffer the same was as the close up walls, and they don't look good on the 3D background. The music on HD is great. A lot of it is some jazzy sounding stuff, it all sounds pretty nice. The piano music especially is beautiful. There's a pretty large soundtrack too, which can be listened to during certain chapters thanks to a music player. Sound effects are generally nice too. One thing HD is missing though is voice acting, although this is expected due to the mountains of text, so no real problem there. This game is hard, to put it simple. Unless you use a guide you will often find yourself wandering the halls and knocking on doors. HD does not give you a list of things you have to do in the chapter, so there's going to be trial and error at times, especially when figuring out what to use for puzzles. Later in the game, it's easier to get game over too. Being seen by a wrong person can cause this, and even asking just one wrong question. However I personally don't mind this, and I feel it adds to the challenge, in a good way.Replay value is actually quite nice. HD offers a New Game Plus sort of thing, where you just continue your file after finishing the game. You'll go back to the start of the game, only it will be slightly different. Some rooms you couldn't reach before will be accessible in this time through. And the dialogue and items can change a bit. Also, HD has multiple endings, so if you want to get them all you'll have to play again.Overall, Hotel Dusk is a simply excellent game, and I highly recommend everyone to buy this. It will take you about 15 hours your first time through, however as I said, the reply value will want you to keep playing this excellent mystery adventure.Score BreakdownStory/Characters: 10/10Gameplay: 9/10Graphics: 8.5/10Sound: 9/10Overall: 9.4/10 (Not an average.)
  4. This is really something everybody should integrate into their email...Having the two so closely related only makes sense. IM and Email, I mean. They are basically the same thing, just IMing is a lot faster but less used. I think in a few years we're going to see more people integrating these. They will probably most likely even integrate in a lot better ways too.
  5. Very helpful tutorial, I'm sure I'll use this with my coding in the future! Thanks for the heads up. Anyone have any good suggested uses for this?
  6. The problem is the TV's resolution makes everything on the internets seem super small. Wii provides a solution by zooming in on the page, but another problem arises where you can't see enough information. If we sat as close to our TV's as we do to our computers, we would be fine, but since we like to relax in a distant chair with game consoles web browsing is inefficient. Additionally they are slow, even the PS3 browser is slow for some reason, lack of RAM probably. Wii is actually pretty fast but it takes too long to type without a keyboard. I think the next generation of game consoles will just drop web browsing all together, its ineffective and a waste of time and money. Though I admit watching youtube on my TV is pretty cool, I'll probably be able to do it better with an Apple TV later this year. Maybe someone will find a solution to this problem and computers will become outdated, but I doubt it. Another problem, by the way, is that web browsers take too long to access - with Wii, it takes about 5 minutes from startup until you actually get to your browsers, but in PC it takes seconds to load up a computer and start browsing.
  7. If Linux really is violating these patents, I support Microsoft. Theft of ideas should not be allowed in this world, and Linux OS's have been known to have some stolen-ish elements in the past. Then again, if Linux hasn't done anything wrong, then shame on Microsoft for attempting to do this.
  8. This could quite well result in a new age of computer "laws", where we see many more people being arrested for spamming or hacking and such. However, I wonder... how did they manage to catch him? It seems like it has become very hard to track a person down on the Internet without them telling you their personal information.
  9. Wow, a very well thought out and insightful post. I know many people have opposing feelings on Marth and Roy, but I believe Marth a superior character simply because he looks so much cooler. Roy is a lame purple prince, while Marth looks like an Elegant king. His colour scheme fits much better for his character than Roy's does. Roy's colors clash, purple and red don't go well together, and his alternate costumes are lame. On the other hand, Marth's colors are wonderful and he has great alternate costumes, like snow and black flavors. Additionally Marth is a much more powerful and easier to use. Plus he sounds cooloer. Overall Marth is much greater than ROy.
  10. PresentationYou turn on the game, and see a fairly simple screen. On the top is the start menu - on the bottom is a focused view on one of the animals in your town. Pressing start allows you access an option menu - all of the options are fairly self explanatory except for Tag Mode, which is soon explained. Generally, Nintendo did a great job on the presentation. However, some characters have lost their "Where Am I?" making it hard on beginners. Also, one thing to note. When you turn on your character, it takes a minute to load your town. I am wondering why this is, considering everything is perfect on the opening screen. It seems as though Nintendo put that in there to annoy us!Overall Presentation : 190/200Final notes: Nintendo, you don't need loading times.Controlling the GameI hate to say it, but the controls are rather terrible. Sure, they work and are above and beyond what is expected. However, there is just so much more that could've been done! Something that would've helped would be an option that allowed you to only control the items menus by touch screen - allowing you to control your character on the top screen. The touch screen controls are strange - it seems impossible to open my cabinets using the touch screen. Overall, the controls were exceptional, but in a game with so many options and so much movement, I think Nintendo should've tried harder.Overall Control: 79/100Final Notes: I would think everyone at Nintendo would be trying to maximize control to practice for the RevolutionGraphical FeelThere really isn't much to say here. Animal Crossing basically hits graphics as hard as possible for the DS. When you're running up, sometimes your patterns will have black lines. Some things are a little blocky. Overall Graphics: 99/100Smooth?I think the framerate could be a little better. The game doesn't really feel very smooth - when you run into trees, they become blocks for a split second and sometimes the game will lag up on you. Still, everything is decent.Overall Smooth: 40/50Final Notes: Great for such a poor spec systemSoundThe DS seems to have some sound issues every once in a while. I have noticed the echoing even more in Animal Crossing : Wild World. However, the sounds are otherwise great. K.K. Slider has a beautiful voice and I have had an enjoyable time listening to him.Overall Sound: 49/50Final Notes: Animal Noises are weird.MultiplayerI'm going to only touch the Wi-Fi Connection here. Easy interface, easy to connect. I have problems going to other's towns sometimes, but only on the weekends. Generally, going to a friend's town is AMAZING! The chatting is easy - and everything is practically perfect. Extra features, like Blanca, make it even better. There's so many possibilities!Overall Multiplayer: 100/100Final Notes: I love the way Nintendo is going online.LengthThis is an awful section. Simply put, the game goes on forever. Play it for half an hour a day and you'll never get bored.Overall Length: 100/100Fun levelFor some, the game is fun. For some, the game is life. For some, the game is work. Animal Crossing : Wild World is free for all. You do what you want, when you want. Don't like someone? Push them around. Want to get revenge at a friend? Invite 'em over, and stick 'em in a Pitfall. Animal Crossing : Wild World is as fun as you want it to be. Enough said.Overall Fun: 200/200Final Notes: HAHAHAHA YOU FELL IN MY PITFALL U NEWBExtrasI cannot honestly grade this part. There are so many things nobody knows about - for example, it took days after the game was released for people to find out about feathers. Who knows what else there is? Note: My Turban rules.Overall Extras: 100/100Final Notes: Note: My Turban Rules.Overall, I greatly enjoyed this game and will continue to enjoy it. Overall Grade: 858/1000 Grade Level: B Above Average Note / this will be a higher grade than most games.
