  1. Alright all, I've uploaded this template for a trial & error testing period and I would like some input on the live version of this template and how the scripting responds to different browsers, as I only work with IE and Mozilla Firefox... Just remember that the page this is located on is still under construction and a lot of the links still do not work yet. Please, visit: This Page For the Trial & Error test page for this template and give me feedback on how the template looks within your browser. Thanks in advance...
  2. First; thanks for all the replies and the comments on my new template. I will shortly have it available from my site. I'm still working on the scripting part of it at the moment. Then I will be adding it to my website so others can get it for their use. It is very sad when a pet dies, especially from an illness that could be prevented if people would start looking more into cures for pet diseases like they do human diseases. As for my dog, Ebbie. The illness she had we couldn't figure out if it was genetic or if she contracted it somehow, simply because the vet had no idea what it was she had in the first place. The details of the disease are a bit on the graphic side, so I wont really go into it. But she apparently was dealing with this disease for the better part of a year and we had no clue. It didn't show any symptoms and she didn't seem to be too bothered by it. When she did start showing signs of being sick, the disease was spread to far to have been able to stop, even if we knew what it was. The vet's guess as to what it was, was that it was some sort of skin cancer or skin eating bacteria. He couldn't precisely figure it out. When he put her down, he logged it as a mystery illness with no known cure or treatment.
  3. Hey all, I've just finished my first free, personal template and thought that I would post a sample of it for you all to see. This specific design is dedicated to my long-time friend Ebby (my dog) who had to be put to sleep because of a unknown skin disease that was slowly killing her. She was the best dog I have ever known and loved. I will always remember and miss her. This is my way of giving her something, even if she cannot enjoy it herself. here it is: click to enlarge Let me know what you guys think..
  4. Yet another update I thought you all would be interested in knowing about. I've recently added a new section to my site called "Resources." Within that section there are subsections directing and informing others of resource sites for various webdesigner tools and scripts and also were I will be posting future tutorials and tips & tricks for some simple website tricks. I've also stated that this section requires visitor support for the simple fact that others may or may not know some sites available on the web that would be a good source of information for new webmasters/mistresses or even experienced ones who are looking for a good site to use as references. Hope you all stop by, take a look and let me know how it's starting out. Input is, as I mentioned above, very important to this section of my site and all of your input is more than welcome.
  5. I have 50 invites available for anyone who wants one, just send me and email to my gmail account at devion.sb AT gmail DOT com and I will be more than happy to send you an invite.
  6. Well, I've updated my website just a bit. There is still not much in the way of content at the moment, which I explain in the news article on the front page. But I have added an 'About' and 'Contact' page so that my visitors will learn more about what my website is all about and if they have comments, suggestions, and/or questions pertaining to my site or myself they have a why to get a hold of me. Let me know what you all think of the navigation.. Took me a while to decide how I wanted to do it.
  7. Yes, the margin at the top of the page was intended to be there. I don't particularly care when the edges of my designs are at the exact top of the page. I like a little space between my graphics and the actual chrome of the browser. As for the 800x600 res problem. I had already mentioned that this design was not intended to be viewed in such a small resolution. I design for the higher resolutions, simply because I refuse to work in an 800x600 resolution. But, for those that still use this resolution, I may, mind you that's a big may, decide to reformat my site so that the 800x600 screen res. can view the site properly...
  8. Well, if you are still interested, making one cell a certain colour is simple enough, just put the background property in the td or th tag for that cell. As for your website and it being done. That is entirely up to you. We are just commenting, whether you take our advice or you decide to go your own way is your choice. I'm quite surprised actually that you changed so much on your site because of the comments posted here. But, I suppose if your site is ment to please the public, it's a good thing you took everyone's advice into consideration. By the way, what happened to the $ signs you had with the title, I thought it was a rather cute design. But if you want any further assistance with scripting or anything, send me a line at: devion.sb AT gmail DOT com. I would be more than happy to help out where I can.
  9. What, precisely, is the link for? I know of the world wide consortium. Is there a reason you felt I needed reminding?
  10. If you want the background to scroll with the page, you would need to make that background the background for the table you use to hold your text and not as the main page background. I would suggest getting the hex code for the colour and using a background colour rather than an image.. It loads faster at any rate.
  11. Hate to be the one to burst your "happy bubble," cause you've been working hard to make your site decent to look at. But whatever image you are using for the background is repeating.. This makes it very hard to figure your site out.. You should probably put a "no repeat" rule into your script... Since you don't use css I would suggest that you put bgproperties="fixed" into the body tag for you pages.
  12. My design was not ment for an 800x600 screen resolution. None of my designs will be made for such a small space. When I create the entrance page, this will be stated and hopefully understood. I do not design for sites below 1024x768 true color. I can't stand how large it makes everything look and it bugs my eyes, so I don't bother with it, even though a lot of people still use that resolution. Those wanting their system in an 800x600 res will just have to deal with the disadvantages that come with it. Anyone with a higher setting than this will see my site correctly and shouldn't run into any visability problems.
  13. Not to sound cruel or anything. But if you have your own website, shouldn't you be able to create the graphics for it yourself? I can understand running out of ideas for something, but not making effort to create your own graphics is somewhat mind-boggling to me for a webmaster/mistress. Are you looking for ideas for a banner or are you trying to get some webmaster/mistress to take the time to create a banner for your website, which you should be able to do yourself? Again, I don't mean this to be a cruel statement. I'm just wondering what the point is of having a website if you use other peoples materials and not your own...
  14. Hey all, Just thought I would put my new layout up for review. At this moment, there is no content to my site. I wanted to get some feedback on the layout before I started puting up content on my pages. By the way, the little catch phrase for my site "Look inside and find..." is supposed to be a fun add-lib sort of thing.. Put a word at the end of the sentence describing my site as it stand now... The link to my site is in my sig, that way I wont have to try and update you guys on the link...
  15. The overall appearance of the image is fabulous. I don't care for the text in the center of the image though. I think you should just delete that and leave everything else as-is. I actually saved this image to use for my desktop background. As I said, it's very good. Just needs a bit of tweaking here and there and it will be awesome. First thing you should do is get rid of that text in the center and replace it with something that actually fits into the image.
  16. I would have to say that there isn't too much that scares me, but what does is probably strange to most people. I haven't, yet, seen a movie that has scared me since I was a small child. That movie, amazingly enough, was "The Gate". I watched it again recently and have to wonder why it scared me so much when I was little. It seems quite retarded now. As for the things that absolutely terrify me, even though I wouldn't willingly put myself in the situation to be scared that much, are as follows:- Large crowds : I'm currently dealing with extreme social anxiety and will not put myself anywhere in the vicinity of a large group of people. I completely wig out and have to leave.- The ocean : I personally cannot stand the idea of not having earth beneath my feet. The feeling of being weightless and the possibility of something getting ahold of me just creeps me out, to no end.- Spiders : Hate the critters! My first thought when someone even mentions them is "Squish." If I see a spider in a room, I'm not going in there until someone kills the thing and removes it's squished little body... :: shiver :: eeeh
  17. The reason I put the files into a pop-up window is so that the window can be minimized and visitors could continue browsing my website. Right now, I only have the music page available, but I think in long-term usability. If I had the files embeded now, I would just have to redo the page again later, making it so visitors could browse my site and listen to music at the same time. I decided it would be alot easier for visitors to get used to it now rather than be surprized by it later when I would have had to change it to do what I wanted it to do in the first place. Make sense?
  18. Gorgeous! Gorgeous! I love the clean layout and the ease of navigation that you implimented into your design. I think that the page background of pastel green and the content background of pastel pink are a very nice combination. They somewhat blend together so it's not so hard to look at as some site's I've seen. Looking forward to see what else you have in store for us...
  19. Alright, I don't know what happened. But I posted a reply letting you all know that I had updated that specific page and that it moved. I don't know what happened to that post, because I saw it posted before I left. Oh well, I'm here posting it yet again so you all have the correct link.. SecretBox Music P.S. You need both Flash and Shockwave to view the player and hear the music.
  20. Thanks! I just wanted to make sure it would work for my visitors before I tried adding any more. It would be kinda pointless to go through all that work and not have it work..
  21. I just got this software that is supposed to make it easier to stream music from my site without using the mp3 format and encrypt the actual song file. I know it works for me, but I need someone to visit the page I have for it and tell me if they are able to hear the song that I have up. If you can hear what the song is, I would be real appreciative if you would let me know. I've been looking for a good program that would do this for quite some time now, that way I don't have to worry about thieft. Here's the page you can find it on: Song Please, let me know how it works...
  22. Hey there, I've actually had to deal with this problem before and I know how difficult it is to find specific codes for a specific purpose. I think I might know of a script that will work the way you want it to at CodeBrain this will enable you to use a normal link (text, button, image, ect.) to open a new window that will resize itself to the content of the page. Hopefully this is the type of script you are looking for. Later,
  23. That sounds great. I would really appreciate any help on this subject. I'm not very good with php yet. I'm still learning new things about it and trying to understand the components of it better. I always learn better with hands-on experiance, which is why I like to mess with scripts and look at the source page for sites. It helps me learn how something works. If you are able to help, in any way, that would be great. Thanks again for the suggestions and help on this.
  24. Hey all, I've been searching the net tonight trying to find a tutorial or script that is capable of allowing members of my site to add to a list of information easily. Let me try to explain this a little better so you can probably help me out. I want to make an archive for my members, kind of like a contact page, where their information is posted in a list (Username, Address, Website, Age, ect.) I want them to be able to fill out a form and have it posted to this page in real-time and also be allowed to edit their own information and not able to access anyone elses. I would like it to be formated on my page in a table with every other row a different colour, so it's easier on the eyes. I hope I explained sufficiently enough for anyone to be able to help me locate a tutorial or script that will explain to me how I go about doing this. Thanks in advance...
  25. I would suggest that you go to TSware.net and get Webcoder 5. It has all that you ask for and a bunch more. It's completely free, all you have to do is register it. It comes with a good variety of script helping and also includes an auto-complete for biginning webmasters/mistresses. I think you will find that it's one of the best free editors around.
