Unrecognizable Cd-rom Drive? locate drive

thats not quite the problem, it will randomly recognize and not recognize the drive ive tried trying other CD's and thats not the problem either. -
Im trying to play a CD on my comp. but the computer wont recognize that theres a CD in the drive plus it wont recognize that there is even a CD Drive to begin with.any suggestions as to how i fix this?

Im trying to fix some things on my acount but, i hava to be able to log into my Admin. acount. my dad had the comp. before me and he forget the password to get into the acount. how do i hack into my own computer to get the password, or is there any way of defragging my comp. without being a admin?
