PHP/MySQL is the way to go. Unlike asp.net, PHP is completely open source. As far as designing the HTML goes, I just do everything by hand. At first it may seem daunting, but actually writing the code from hand gives you much more control and usually better quality code.
Absolutely. Coding by hand allows you to actually organise things how you want them organised, and allow you to employ possibly the most useful language of them all --CSS.

Yes, very plain and boring --But it looks clear and professional. I like it. Great job. Though, some more class would be nice.

Damn...it says "server cannot be found"....

I've an Intel Pentium 4 3.06 GHZ. Don't like it? I do.

Well, to tell you the truth, I learned HTML at http://www.w3schools.com./; Do you guys think that their HTML tutorial [lessons] are good enough? I learned how to make a whole page and I even know some javascript (how to make those buttons so that when you click on it, a little pop-up [containing whatever you want it to say] pops up on your screen). Opinions on learning more HTML? Do you guys think that I have learned enough HTML?
I'm not a fan of w3schools, it seems to give you loads of random and not necessarily useful information in no particular order.

I also like the vast scope of it, unlike other brands <cough>PHPBB</cough>

I'm liking this place already.Maybe I like Bungie.net because I got linked to here from there.

I like Invision so much. So many options.Perhaps it's the knowledge that even I haven't figured it all out yet that's so indulging

I suppose it just takes a bit of adjusting. There, look, I'm getting used to it already

What he really needs is recommendations. I'm hoping some experienced users can help out in here.

Please provide reasoning with your answer.

I mean, get rid of it altogether, it takes up too much space in any scenario.
-
Or rather, my friend does. Where can he purchase tutorial guides or anything of the sort, preferably something that lists all commands.

My favourite developer, by far, is Invision. However, I like Bungie.net. Then again, that's just me.
-
I'd thought of that. Maybe an option to disable it and the announcement box would be useful once a member has a hosting plan...

I find HTML Dog HUGELY informative and helpful. In short, it's the best I've had the pleasure of seeing. Try it, and see what the fuss is about.

I've an ongoing project here, but I can't guarantee that'll be up for a while. It's not completed yet either, I just haven't had time. But you'll notice I make excessive use of CSS, and without that, the site would fall apart (literally!). If you need any tips in that department, just make a post or contact me personally and I'll give you any advice you need. This is really just a clan site, I hope to get a site up here with a few more of my personal touches to it. But remember, any help you need, I'm always around.

I tend to not get "involved" with TV things any more. Personally, I think the Beeb are, have been, and always will be the best. They put British things on, for Brits, and which we enjoy. But, I imagine our neighbours across the pond wouldn't have the same opinion, as their sense of humour isn't quite as dry

I'm really not a fan of the shoutbox being at the top of the page. It takes too long to load, and pushes the actual Forum content to the bottom. I think it should be included just above the footer & copyright.

I'd have to say this is the most helpful site I've had the privilege of viewing. It helped me to become the web designer I am today, and I think any of you considering learning a bit of raw coding should check it out - you really do learn lots, fast.
I've also found it works great in conjunction with Dreamweaver.

The only things I can get to work for me are Net 2 FTP and Dreamweaver.
