  1. Having said this the other day whilst driving the rear end slid as it was very wet when I went around a corner. Quite a few people I know wouldnt have known what to do in the situation however it may sound stupid but from playing games on the playstation with a steering wheel it helped me know how to get out of the skid. All thanks goes to Gran Turismo and Need For Speed.

  2. Has anyone used Sketchup? Its some new software created by google. There is a free version and also a pro version. Heres some information about it:

    Overview
SketchUp is the award-winning program that delivers a completely new way to design in 3D.

    What is SketchUp?

SketchUp is a deceptively simple, amazingly powerful tool for creating, viewing, and modifying 3D ideas quickly and easily. SketchUp was developed to combine the elegance and spontaneity of pencil sketching with the speed and flexibility of today's digital media.

Developed for the conceptual stages of design, this powerful yet easy-to-learn software allows for quick and easy 3D form creation, the result is an interface that supports a dynamic, creative exploration of 3D form, material and light.

SketchUp combines a compact yet robust tool-set with an intelligent guidance system that streamlines the 3D drawing process.

    3D for Everyone!

Design software has been around for decades and is clearly here to stay. But we think something has been missing—the freedom, flexibility and fun that should go hand-in-hand with the design process. It's our view that while traditional CAD software is necessary for developing detailed drawings, it's simply too complex for most conceptual design work.

SketchUp bridges the divide between design utility and fun. As designers ourselves, we created SketchUp as much to satisfy our own wishes as those of our users.

We know you've heard it all before: what company doesn't claim that its software is 'a piece of cake to use' or 'the best around?' We're guilty of saying this too. But you don't have to take our word for it—you can try it yourself. Just download a free trial version of SketchUp Pro 5, fire it up and give it a spin. Most people say they're off and running in a few hours.

    Who uses SketchUp?

Fans of SketchUp include everyone from industry giants to industry-giants-in-the-making. As the 'Switzerland' of design software, we're neutral with respect to file formats and work hard to get along with everybody. In keeping with this, we've designed SketchUp to be compatible with most other modeling, image editing, and illustration applications that designers use. From architects to movie and set designers, from game developers to graphic artists, our users rely on SketchUp to help make their design ideas come to life.

Don't wait another minute to experience SketchUp Pro 5. Download our free trial version of SketchUp Pro 5 and get for 8 full working hours of use. That's more than enough time to fall in love with its remarkably easy interface and unbelievably powerful functionality.

    Use SketchUp Pro 5 for:

    Quick massing studies
    Exploring options and ideas
    Figuring out spatial design problems
Setting up proper perspective for hand drawings
Using SketchUp models as a base for presentation boards doctored with Photoshop
But nevermind what we think, here's what customers have told us SketchUp is to them:
    "Communication tool"
    "Problem-solving tool"
    "Productivity tool"
    "Creativity tool"
    "Problem-finding tool"
    "What-if tool"
    "Teaching tool"
    "Prototyping tool"
    "Design tool"
    "Best sketching tool ever"
    "Draft preparation tool"
    "Marketing tool"
    "Visualization tool"
    "Level design tool"
    "Consultation tool"
    "A form of therapy"

Add-ons can be downloaded from @Last's Web Site.

    Google Earth
One such add-on allows the user to export the 3D model as a .kmz file which can then be opened in Google Earth. This allows accurate geo-referencing of SketchUp models and accurate placement of those models in Google Earth. It also allows SketchUp to import modeling context (photographic + terrain model) from Google Earth for modeling reference.

    Other Add-ons
Other add-ons are provided for export to:

    3D Studio
AccuRender for SketchUp for to ceate ray trace, photorealistic images.
RPS 3D PDF for interactive PDF documents.
    [3D Text] - for creating 3D text.

So my question is has anyone used it and is it any good?

  3. My best advice to you would be give them a go and see what best suites your needs. We have all mentioned various services. All you must do is check them out and see what you think of them and their interface. It doesnt take much time to install and uninstallthe ones you dont like. So give it a go and please give us feedback to, which ones you prefer.

  4. Here is some more information about it:

The vast orange fireball blooming in the night sky is the signal for the second phase of the attack. Large NOD armies flood into GDI strongholds, taking advantage of the chaos created by the decapitation of GDI's command and control networks.

Battles rage across the world. Things are looking very grim for GDI. That's where you come in as a GDI commander who must rally the demoralized and scattered GDI forces, mount a counterattack against NOD, and ultimately drive them out of GDI territory.

As for how the story will be told: We will have FMV cut scenes (with live action), but we're also weaving story into everything we do in the single player campaign - from mission briefings to objectives to database entries you uncover in the world to radio conversations you overhear on the battlefield. We want to immerse you in the game world like never before.

In addition to the cool new single player campaigns, we are updating C&C gameplay so that it feels fresh - adding mechanics that are standard to cutting edge RTS games and creating some new features and innovations to drive the genre forward. Some examples of the new features include mobile bases, units that gain capabilities based on how close they are to the center of an Ion Storm (which can be summoned and controlled by one of the three game factions), and units that can work together to grant the player new battlefield capabilities.

It's also worth mentioning the return of the side-bar interface: Our in-game UI for C&C3 is a side-bar that will feel familiar to C&C players but it has some added features that make it more useful - and make it feel interesting and new. We are combining the centralized production queues in the classic C&C side-bar with contextual space for selected units and structures. The new UI lets you quickly build units and structures, easily control grouped units, and access your build queues anywhere on the map - even in the middle of a battle. But you can still get lots of information about your selected units and activate their special abilities - which is pretty much expected in the latest generation RTS games. We think our interface for C&C3 is the best of both worlds.

  5. What does everyone have as their desktop image? For me I used to always have cars and then went on to chinese and martial art related. However since playing around with various themes with windows I have started to like shapes and weird emblems. So guys come on heres the chance to show off your desktop wallpaper no matter what it is. I am interested to see what people have as their desktop.

  6. Thats a very interesting story KDEWolf. I didnt realise this. I may have been wrong saying that Windows Blinds slowed my computer down. It could have just been the software I had open at the time. I will test this to see. As for windows blinds has anyone got any screenshots they care to show us of their desktop set-up? It would be interesting to see this.I will post mine shortly when I get in, as I am currently using my work computer.

  7. Oh cool. Well I have finally got hold of 3d's max until the 30 day trial is up, which I would like to use just to learn the basics with, as I may upgrade and purchase it in the future if I do feel the need for it. So has anyone got any tutorials for 3d's Max?Thanks in advance guys.I have tried blender but have found it is pretty slow. I dont know if this is my computer or not but 3d's max seems to run perfectly.

  8. Cool. Thanks for all the advice people it is greatly appreciated. I have a friend who owns 3d Max and says its great he says he doesnt mind me borrowing it so I may check it out. Does anyon have any good tutorials for beginners?Although for now I am going to fiddle around with the open source software mentioned called Blender. It looks pretty good, however very complex. Please post any good tutorials. Thanks in advance guys.

  9. Some great views guys. What did you think of the Grand Theft Auto series. I feel they have got better as time has progressed. The gameplay has certainly got better than the very first one.I remember the first one compared to San Andreas. What an amazing difference. What about the old fighting games like Tekken? Do you think these have been getting better? I certainly do. In the latest one you can even play the old games in it, which is a great feature that not many games would offer. It allows you to go back and play the older games and it makes you think how much games have advanced over the years.

  10. I used to use a download manager called Get Right Tray.

It doesn't matter how fast your connection is, if you download big popular files like game demos, Linux installs, or videos, you can still have problems with disconnections or slow servers. GetRight's resuming and acceleration will make your downloads painless and easy--and as fast as possible.

The web link for this software is:
