The Biggest Public Download In Internet History
amir691 posted a topic in Websites and Web Designing
since the recent release of microsoft's windows vista beta 2, microsoft has been facing great bandwidth problems. because the beta release has been the most downloaded thing in internet history. microsoft associates have said they knew it was gonna happen, but they did not know it was going to be this bad. rumors say that some servers have even broken down, and a lot have been maxed out. i don't see what the big fus is about vista. its another failing operating system that has copied features from mac os x and linux and just has changed the names of the technologies so they can say they invented it and they own it. microsoft will eventually fall and i don't think it will be a surprise. i'll be happy to debate these facts with someone that doesn't agree. -

Debates in the aftermath of the Google Spreadsheet announcement have climbed the mountains and traversed the valleys of Google's supposed master plan. They've covered the Google vs. Microsoft gorge, the trickling AdSense stream. What they haven't discussed is the file format war, and I suspect that this is far more important than it may at first seem. These days it's not hard to pitch anything Google does as part of some brilliant strategy to dethrone Microsoft. Despite the fact that the two company's businesses touch at only a few points, the meme is that the two giants are fighting over the same pot of honey. After snapping up Writely, a web-based word processor, Google's eyes looked hungry for Microsoft's Office cash cow. The problem has been that, despite everyone's assumption that the two are locked in battle, it's not clear how a Google Office fits into Google's business plans. The question is made more complicated by the fact that there's currently no shortage of Microsoft Office competitors out there, and some of them are even free. There is no obvious link between Writely and Google Spreadsheet on the one hand, and Google's search business on the other. At least, it's not anything the analysts are talking about.

the RIAA is now fining who ever installs kazaa. for those who dont know what kazaa is, kazaa is p2p program. Which allows anyone to be able to download media, like games, music, and videos illegally. there are major electronic companies like sony that are backing this up. some of you might be using limewire so if you use it too much you might want lower your usage because it could fine you some day. bittorrent is much safer.

thepiratebay.org was recently raided by swedish police becasue it promoted and had increased piracy of movies , software and other media. there have been different points of views about this. Some people think it will be the end of software piracy because other countries will soon take down a pirate site hosting in their countires.others think this will just promote pirates and hackers to find new ways of obtaining illigal files. there is also the p2p and wraz programs that can't be taken down because they do have legal perpouses.

The biggest shift over the next ten years will be one of attitude, as our mindset of "going online" is replaced by one of "being online". This change has already started, as telephones and televisions become more integrated with the Net, and connectivity will grow to include everything from your morning alarm clock to the book you read before falling asleep at night. The "Internet" will no longer be a destination, but the essential glue that holds our world together. Along with a change of mindset will be a generational shift. By the year 2016, no one under the age of forty will remember a world without personal computers. The average twenty year old will find it hard to imagine a time when there wasn't any email to check or Web sites to visit. When we reach this point, even the novelty of the term "Internet" will have long since faded to join such golden buzz-words of yesteryear as "space age" and "atomic". In addition to constant Net connectivity, computing power itself will grow by leaps and bounds -- and this technology will also find its way into everyday objects. Your mobile telephone will be able to record broadcast-quality video, and a cheap child's doll will have the full interactivity of a video game. As the bulky footprint of personal computers becomes smaller, the desktop computer as we know it will disappear. Thanks to decreased computing costs, the average American home will become littered with computers -- like the television sets of today, you'll find them in cars, kitchens and even bathrooms. Japanese-language game and entertainment magazine Famitsu found that 88 percent of their readers believe that the PlayStation 3 is too expensive, with 69 percent saying that that they are most looking forward to the Nintendo Wii this fall and winter. In the quest for who gets to be #2 in Japan, 21 percent said that they were looking forward to the PS3, while only 7 percent cited the Xbox 360. Peter Moore can't be happy about that. The survey was conducted after E3 in order to assess how gamers feel about this year's upcoming console extravaganza. Gamers were also asked to rate the forthcoming gaming titles they are most excited about. The results show a mix of titles from all three consoles, plus some adoration for the Nintendo DS: 1. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii/GC) 2. Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) 3. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3) 4. Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen & The Tower of Mirrors (Wii) 5. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) 6. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) 7. Final Fantasy III (DS) 8. Monster Hunter 3 (PS3) 9. Biohazard (Wii) 10. Halo 3 (360)The Japanese gaming market is notoriously complex and full of life, but one thing is absolutely clear: it must feel really good to be Nintendo right now. The top 10 list is dominated by Wii entries, and Nintendo scores a 1UP with an additional DS entry, for a total of six spots on the list. Sony has to be content with three, which while low, is still higher than one.If the PlayStation franchise is the Godzilla to Nintendo's Mothra, it's not clear who the people really want to win. Sony has earned the loyalty of millions of fans worldwide, much as Nintendo did before it. This survey suggests that this might not be enough, at least while prices remain high. The recent "dark days" at Nintendo, if you can call them that, look to be a thing of the past. The Nintendo DS has outsold Sony's PSP to date, and the new revision of the DS has plenty of gamers drooling all over again. Now with the Wii almost fully revealed (still waiting on a reliable price), Nintendo looks to be ready for a super smash in the revenue department.

Evolution Is Not Science Nor Scientific Theory Evolution
amir691 replied to kasm's topic in General Discussion
ok look if the word pops up in a biology book then people know thats talking about animal and organic type evolution. not cosmic evolution. Evolution is a simple topic but people like to make it religious if though everything that supports it is scientific. -
Installing Linux On An Ipod Ipod Linux Simple Tutorial.
amir691 replied to barnes's topic in General Discussion
i like ipod linux, and i am a linux fan but most people would not do this to a video ipod because it already plays videos. So the next choice to put ipod linux on is an ipod nano, but the nano only offers up to 4 gigs. that is not suffiecient enough for someone that wants to use the nano like the ipod video. Though i am sure some hackers and hobbiests will enjoy it. -
Apple Patents Music That Play According To Your Mood
amir691 replied to amir691's topic in Science and Technology
here is the link to the article http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=32008 I think adjusting to your mood and your mood controls the music are the same thing. its like the transitive property. -
Apple the most innovated company in the world. They made some of the coolest computers and entertainment gears. They are alwasy doing something amazing, the most recent amazing thing they have done is they have patneted mood music. It means exactly what it says. This new type of music adjusts the beat and speed based on the current mood of the listener. This is a very cool yet crazy idea. Though it is apple and we can't underestimate them. The big question how in the world are they gonna determine the mood of of a person, sure they could monitor hear rate, body heat and such stuff, but that a lot equipment. and not to mention the amazing piece of software its gonna take to play according to the mood. The algorithem is going to be one of the most complex software algorithems ever created. My opinion is this thing won't be out until 5 years from now. This has never been done before and i am glad that Apple is doing it because they always do everything right. thanks appleany comments

An experiement was done by nasa recently which resulted to moon soil turining into oxygen. This is huge deal, this could confirm that when our little precious world dies we can still survive somehow and not be extinct. Now your all probobly wondering how they did this. A lens focused a beam on sun light on to a moon rock or soil untill the focused beam of light reach 2500C and after that point most of the substance had turned into oxygen. pretty cool i say. Now just try that with mars and we will know for sure that we wont become instinct.hope this interests you guys.post some comments

UK-based Canonical Ltd. will introduce all-new versions of its popular Debian-based Linuxes -- Ubuntu, Kubuntu, and Edubuntu -- along with its first enterprise server edition on June 1, a company spokesman told DesktopLinux.com May 25.The full release of Ubuntu 6.06 -- code-named Dapper Drake and featuring the latest GNOME desktop -- includes both installable live desktop CDs and text-mode install CDs for three architectures. Canonical will mail free CDs upon request beginning June 1, the spokesman said.Kubuntu is based on the same Debian-powered core as Ubuntu, but utilizes the KDE desktop environment and application packages instead of GNOME. Edubuntu, meanwhile, has a customized interface and applications for the educational sector.Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Edubuntu features a fast and painless install, regular (semi-annual) new releases, a tight selection of application and utility packages installed by default, and many other packages available from the network, the team said.Enhancements in the new release that are common to all the new versions, according to the project team, include: * A new live CD installer that takes on some of the functions previously performed only by the Install CD * Faster system startup and login * Simplified menu organization * Graphical shutdown process * Easy access to power management settings with GNOME Power Manager * Improved support for video playback * Optional NetworkManager for convenient roaming between different wireless and wired networks * OpenOffice.org 2.0.2 * X.org 7.0Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Edubuntu users will also have available to them a new commercial application repository, which allows those who wish to use commercial software easy access to downloads and installation of those applications. More details on this function will be forthcoming, the company said.Dapper Drake also boasts professional technical support from Canonical and hundreds of other companies around the world, the team said. Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Edubuntu 6.0 are the first such releases with a long-term support cycle -- three years on the desktop, and five years on the server, according to Canonical. "This means that free security updates will be provided throughout the three-year period, and that paid technical support will be available from Canonical for that period," the spokesman said.New Server EditionThe Server Edition of the June 1 Ubuntu release will include a mechanism to set up a standardized, certified, and supported LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) server with a single command, Canonical said. The feature reduces the setup time for companies providing hosted LAMP services as well as making it easier for organizations to set up and maintain their own standardized LAMP servers, Canonical said.DesktopLinux.com will have download details when the new versions are released on June 1.

It looks like the PS3 is being fully displayed by sony. The original 2005 desgin had no holes for the hot air from the processor to come out so the a change in the 2006 model is just a lot fo vents and holes to let all the hot air out. Some plugs like usb were swiched around and change but for the most part its the same thing.there will be a 20GB for $499 and 60GB for $599, but it looks like the 20GB has a lot of setbacks and missing features that the 60GB has. One that i know is that you will have to use a wired controller for the 20GB.

Google has become a huge success through these past years. They have grown from a simple company on the corner of the market to a leader in its industry. It keeps comming with new ideas that blows their competetion out of the water. This growth from Google is makeing Microsoft a little affraid. Though Microsoft is the leader of the computer world, it has not reached out to become a leader on the internet, like Google has. Now Google is the leader of the internet world, and also adapts itself to its users with programs and services that ignore what operating system its system is using. People these days are no using more and more online tools and services ever before. This will continue to grow with the popularity of mysql, php and ajax technologies. These reasons show whey Google could become the next Microsoft, because it adapts to its users and it current world, while the rest struggle to keep up.
