  4. since the recent release of microsoft's windows vista beta 2, microsoft has been facing great bandwidth problems. because the beta release has been the most downloaded thing in internet history. microsoft associates have said they knew it was gonna happen, but they did not know it was going to be this bad. rumors say that some servers have even broken down, and a lot have been maxed out. i don't see what the big fus is about vista. its another failing operating system that has copied features from mac os x and linux and just has changed the names of the technologies so they can say they invented it and they own it. microsoft will eventually fall and i don't think it will be a surprise. i'll be happy to debate these facts with someone that doesn't agree.

  6. Debates in the aftermath of the Google Spreadsheet announcement have climbed the mountains and traversed the valleys of Google's supposed master plan. They've covered the Google vs. Microsoft gorge, the trickling AdSense stream. What they haven't discussed is the file format war, and I suspect that this is far more important than it may at first seem. These days it's not hard to pitch anything Google does as part of some brilliant strategy to dethrone Microsoft. Despite the fact that the two company's businesses touch at only a few points, the meme is that the two giants are fighting over the same pot of honey. After snapping up Writely, a web-based word processor, Google's eyes looked hungry for Microsoft's Office cash cow. The problem has been that, despite everyone's assumption that the two are locked in battle, it's not clear how a Google Office fits into Google's business plans. The question is made more complicated by the fact that there's currently no shortage of Microsoft Office competitors out there, and some of them are even free. There is no obvious link between Writely and Google Spreadsheet on the one hand, and Google's search business on the other. At least, it's not anything the analysts are talking about.
  7. ubuntu 6.06 just came out so whats new, it has got very good reviews. here is what a profession reveiw.
  8. the RIAA is now fining who ever installs kazaa. for those who dont know what kazaa is, kazaa is p2p program. Which allows anyone to be able to download media, like games, music, and videos illegally. there are major electronic companies like sony that are backing this up. some of you might be using limewire so if you use it too much you might want lower your usage because it could fine you some day. bittorrent is much safer.
  9. thepiratebay.org was recently raided by swedish police becasue it promoted and had increased piracy of movies , software and other media. there have been different points of views about this. Some people think it will be the end of software piracy because other countries will soon take down a pirate site hosting in their countires.others think this will just promote pirates and hackers to find new ways of obtaining illigal files. there is also the p2p and wraz programs that can't be taken down because they do have legal perpouses.
  10. The biggest shift over the next ten years will be one of attitude, as our mindset of "going online" is replaced by one of "being online". This change has already started, as telephones and televisions become more integrated with the Net, and connectivity will grow to include everything from your morning alarm clock to the book you read before falling asleep at night. The "Internet" will no longer be a destination, but the essential glue that holds our world together. Along with a change of mindset will be a generational shift. By the year 2016, no one under the age of forty will remember a world without personal computers. The average twenty year old will find it hard to imagine a time when there wasn't any email to check or Web sites to visit. When we reach this point, even the novelty of the term "Internet" will have long since faded to join such golden buzz-words of yesteryear as "space age" and "atomic". In addition to constant Net connectivity, computing power itself will grow by leaps and bounds -- and this technology will also find its way into everyday objects. Your mobile telephone will be able to record broadcast-quality video, and a cheap child's doll will have the full interactivity of a video game. As the bulky footprint of personal computers becomes smaller, the desktop computer as we know it will disappear. Thanks to decreased computing costs, the average American home will become littered with computers -- like the television sets of today, you'll find them in cars, kitchens and even bathrooms. 12. Japanese-language game and entertainment magazine Famitsu found that 88 percent of their readers believe that the PlayStation 3 is too expensive, with 69 percent saying that that they are most looking forward to the Nintendo Wii this fall and winter. In the quest for who gets to be #2 in Japan, 21 percent said that they were looking forward to the PS3, while only 7 percent cited the Xbox 360. Peter Moore can't be happy about that. The survey was conducted after E3 in order to assess how gamers feel about this year's upcoming console extravaganza. Gamers were also asked to rate the forthcoming gaming titles they are most excited about. The results show a mix of titles from all three consoles, plus some adoration for the Nintendo DS: 1. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii/GC) 2. Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) 3. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3) 4. Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen & The Tower of Mirrors (Wii) 5. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) 6. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) 7. Final Fantasy III (DS) 8. Monster Hunter 3 (PS3) 9. Biohazard (Wii) 10. Halo 3 (360)The Japanese gaming market is notoriously complex and full of life, but one thing is absolutely clear: it must feel really good to be Nintendo right now. The top 10 list is dominated by Wii entries, and Nintendo scores a 1UP with an additional DS entry, for a total of six spots on the list. Sony has to be content with three, which while low, is still higher than one.If the PlayStation franchise is the Godzilla to Nintendo's Mothra, it's not clear who the people really want to win. Sony has earned the loyalty of millions of fans worldwide, much as Nintendo did before it. This survey suggests that this might not be enough, at least while prices remain high. The recent "dark days" at Nintendo, if you can call them that, look to be a thing of the past. The Nintendo DS has outsold Sony's PSP to date, and the new revision of the DS has plenty of gamers drooling all over again. Now with the Wii almost fully revealed (still waiting on a reliable price), Nintendo looks to be ready for a super smash in the revenue department.
  13. ok look if the word pops up in a biology book then people know thats talking about animal and organic type evolution. not cosmic evolution. Evolution is a simple topic but people like to make it religious if though everything that supports it is scientific.
  14. i like ipod linux, and i am a linux fan but most people would not do this to a video ipod because it already plays videos. So the next choice to put ipod linux on is an ipod nano, but the nano only offers up to 4 gigs. that is not suffiecient enough for someone that wants to use the nano like the ipod video. Though i am sure some hackers and hobbiests will enjoy it.
