  1. I have the same problem, I learn everything from my teacher so when I try to explain things to him its hard without being able to SHOW him, I get this message:

    Network Access Message: The page cannot be displayed

    which I'm assuming means that the port used to send information back and forth between your computer at school and the server is already in use or is blocked. Most likely it is in use if you are using a computer that is on the school network. hope this helped explain something, and maybe someone will post a way they found around this little issue.

  2. ok, so I got hosted, uploaded my files, and checked it out. it all works fine. But tere is a slight problem with my site. the main file is obviously index.html If I go to my website it shows http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ though if I hit the home button I get mysite I know I can change a file name in the file manager but wouldnt that ruin my links? I want to be able to customize the way the page is displayed in the address bar. if anyone know how to do this please let me know. I also have a question about the placement of files. in my code I have a link to an imige that goes something like

    img src="logo.gif"

    I placed this picture in the images folder and my web pages in the place where they go but my imiges only work if I put the in the same place as my picture, is this because I need my code to say

    img src="images/logo.gif"

    or is there a diferent way to do this?

  4. you can wire it yourself if you have some extra 3 ppins lying around and a solder gun/wand. If you dont have some extra 3 pins then I would suggest buyiong some addapters from newegg, they should ship pretty fast and you wont find a cheaper price anywhere else. actually I would suggest buying the splitter because if you try to do it yourself then you will most likely miss-align a 12v line with a 5 volt line and fry something, if you think you can do it go for it, but I would deffinently go for some splitters, or some new fans.


  5. Using a gas to help power a fan, then turning it back into a liquid, heating the liquid, and continuing the process over and over again?
    It sounds like a cool idea (pardon the pun), and I can see why it would be so effective and expensive!

    The gas you explained about sounds very much like nitrogen or hydrogen... I would say nitrogen because it turns into a gas on contact with the air, and also it's environmentally friendly.


    The gas doesnt actually power the fan or make contact with the air. all the gas is contained in the pipes, and it cycles through it. the gas never escapes otherwise you would have to refill it every time. It is the same idea that is used in air-conditionars and refridgerators. the fan is only used to cool one end of the pipe that is then used to cool the gas back into a liquid. the processor is the condensor that turns the liquid into a gas.

  6. I dont know what exactly the substance is but I can find out. I sent a request to Zalman asking that very question. I beleive I will get an answer unless they use a special one and dont want to give away information. I found a great article while I was searching for the answer to your question, on SystemCooling.com.

    "The magic of a phase change system comes from the substance used to transfer the heat from one place to another, namely the refrigerant. This magic is due to a property called latent heat of vaporization. This technical-sounding term can be reduced to a very simple concept - a good refrigerant absorbs a huge amount of heat as it changes from a liquid to a gas (or changes phase). Think of it in terms of an aerosol can. Have you ever been using a spray can and felt the can grow cold as it was sprayed? That's a small example of a refrigerant in action. As the can is used, the pressure inside drops, the liquid propellant evaporates, absorbing heat, thus the can grows cold.
    Chemists have long known that one of the best refrigerants is a CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) based substance commonly known as freon. However, what these chemists understood only later, and to the detriment of everyone, is that CFC based refrigerants are absolutely horrible for the environment, particularly the ozone layer of Earth's atmosphere. They went back to the drawing board and have, over the last 15-20 years, worked on developing non-CFC refrigerants that work as well as good old freon. An example of this newer breed of refrigerant is R134a, which is used in many refrigeration and air conditioning applications. In the case of the Vapochill LS, its system is designed to use either R404a or R507 refrigerant, which are variations on the same theme (R404a is actually a blend of several refrigerants, including R134a)."

  7. OK, Let me clarify for all of you. SLI stands for scaleable link interface. it allows you to use two nvidia geforce graphics cards together. all of you pretty much hit the nail on the head with that one. where you got it wrong is the part where you say that the cards have to be exactly the same or that they even have to be from the same line. with the new geforce 80 driver there is much more flexibility with using cards. Another thing is the new upgrade curve. Lets say you go out and buy one card say a 7200. then later you want to upgrade to a 7800. it has been proven that 2 7200's outperform one 7800, and by the time you want to upgrade, the 7200's will be cheaper. the problem lies if you want to upgrade again, you would either have to buy 2 new 7800's or go with the new (hypothetical) 8000 to get the boost past your 7200's. by the time you want to upgrade the price may have gone down and you can throw those two 7200's in another computer, give them to a friend, or sell them. The point is you now have two old cards instead of one. it would be possible to buy the 800 and put it in SLI with the 7200 but the 800 would perform at the same speed as the 7200 so you would basically be paying extra for a 7200 card, not a 8000 card. Another mistake that is commonly made is that people seem to think that ATI's crossfire is better because they used to be the leader. think about it. Nvidia's SLI has been out over a year longer than ATI's crossfire and is therefore more accepted by developers and system connections. for gamming the sli may be slightly more expensive but it is worht the cost. you can get most information off of sites like Tom's Hardware and other places liek that, you can also find some good information on Nvidia's own website. another way to tell what is better is to look at what is being used in the dell XPS systems, they use Nvidia SLI and I beleive they use AMD's FX series, at least they did last time I checked.


  8. Intresting. I've never heard of something like this before. It sounds like a new gadget for me to buy!
    How much was the heatsink?


    The heatsink I bought was about $60 at newegg. There are also a lot of other products out that are using this new phase change cooling technology, like the new Asus A8N32-SLI deluxe Motherboarduses heatpipes to cool the northbridge and take the heat into the path of natural airflow. I know that many of the Zalman heatsinks and other graphics coolers use heatpipes. There are a number of products that use heatpipes and I would recommend any of them to you. many can be found on Newegg. I also know that many of the sythe brand heatsinks are using heatpipes as well.

  9. I first came across phase change cooling when I bought the Zalman CNPS9500 heat sink. Basically the base of it (which is pure copper) is connected to what is being called "Heat Pipes (also pure copper)" and then a bunch of little copper "Fins" are attached to that. The fan sits perpendicular not parallel to the base which is why I bought it. I was curious as to how it could cool better than some water cooling that I decided to do a little research. I found out that the "Pipes" are actually hollow and they are filled with some type of liquid that at room temperature is almost a gas. While this is in liquid form it sits right at the base of the heat sink, on top of the CPU and main heat source. As the CPU heats up, the liquid heats up and goes through a "Phase Change" hence the name Phase Change cooling. The matter is now in a gas form and has taken the heat energy away from the heat source and "floated" out to where the fan and fins are, the fan and fins cool the pipes, thus cooling the gas. The gas then goes through another phase change and turns back into a liquid. The liquid is now heavy again and so it sinks back down to the heat source. The cycle repeats over and over, so the heat sink doesn?t use any pumps or condensers because it is all contained in the pipes. As effective as water cooling, yet not as bulky and uses less power to operate, plus you don?t have to worry about leaks. If I am wrong about anything please let me know so that I can have a better understanding.


  10. Google is making a lot more money than most people think off of this. They have it set up so that people who want fast, targeted, cheap advertising can sign up for a google ad package called "google Adwords". Then more web designers get a hold of someone who will host their website, lets say Xisto, and they want to make some money from advertisment on their website. This user doesn't want to go throught the work of filtering through advertisments and placing good ones on their site. So the user goes to google and applies for a differnt advertising package called "googfle adsence." google obviously charges more from the advertiser than they are paying the site owner. so lets say 100 people want to advertise for their computer parts hardware store, and 100 people create and host a site with content centered around building computers. each side goes to google and google gets 10 times the advertisements than they get aplications, so they make a lot of money.
