Google will move forward in its field i.e. Internet. and Microsoft in its one i.e. Computer EssentialsGoogle has launched a very large number of programs to make things easy for the user. The brains behind this are great. They probe into the modern-day problems and preferences of people.Take an example of GMail. One main feature is that it has text advertisements and another one is its interface. The thing annoying in all type of Mail providers is their endless ads. Some will be of Flash Document Type and the others of High resolution JPEG Type. Their mailbox takes hours to load (especially if you are using a Dial-Up Internet Connection).GMail uses AJAX to hide all the loading-time display. After final loading is over, the whole page is displayed at once. If you are a GMail user, You must have seen a message like "Loading...". This message and the way it loads, its speed and many other features attract the user just for the reason that it is easy for the user to interact. Once a person uses GMail and becomes a bit experienced with it, he begins to get adjusted to it. Now, on a fine day, if he returns to his original (previous) mail-system, he will greatly be annoyed because of the delay caused by the advertisements shown by those mail providers. This is not a big deal. Anyone can do that but no-one except Google have done that. That creates the difference, a difference which results in making Google one step ahead of the other mail providers. Even this one step matters. Steps one after the other cover a long path and the other competitors will be too far behind to continue the competition and the one who leads will be the winner. In the mean time, if any other competitor wants to be in the race, he has to come up with something new and great. I have observed that Yahoo is trying to give Google a tough competition in the field of Mails. But Google enlarges its kingdom in many other fields. It has Google Adsense, Google Notebook, Google Mail with Chat, Google Desktop, Google Earth and lots more...Right at present, many people may be striving to make new innovative things for Google. This is the reason for its huge success.Google can?t be the next Microsoft UNLESS and UNTILL it steps down to Computer Essentials dealing and I don?t think Google have this in Mind.If Google comes in the Computer Essentials field, then it is a threat to Microsoft because Google have a very powerful Marketing background. It spreads news very fast! Such things may support Google but I don?t think Google will step into Computer Essentials.

It's too late to comment and help but some of my views: Didn't have an UPS? The biggest vulnerability of a computer is interruption in Power Suply. It is a must In India (because of frequent powercuts). I never encounter such a problem even though the current has given up a lot of times. You were encountering this problem a lot of times? You could have taken care of it before it grew worse. But anyways, you are a powerful mechanic! This happened to me too but that was only because loose connection of USB Ports. Thats strange. You'd better follow what your computer tells: "Call vendor for support" Do you have an Antivirus program? I guess you do. But be aware that even the greatest Antivirus companies probe into only 80% of the world's total viruses. One of my experiences: Everything was working fine until one day I switched on the plug, then the UPS and then the CPU. But my CPU is not starting. I was in utter need of it because I had done some Biology assignment in it. But I had to face my lecturer that day. The next day, everything was fine!

Hi guys, I am presently developing a website which depends on JavaScript for its design. The problem is that some browsers do not JavaScript enabled. So, in case Script cannot be run on the browser, I have given a 301 (Meta) Redirect to a page which will tell them to enable the script. What about the Search engine bots? Will they undergo the 301 Redirect? Or can they see the actual page? Please help.

Integerate Your Site With Talking Characters - Ms Agents
AlanDS replied to AlanDS's topic in Programming
Majority of the people use Internet Explorer these days. But people are now shifting to Mozilla Firefox. But for now, at the fact that "Internet Explorer must be Used" cannot be considered as a major disadvantage because of the large no. of users of IE For your "The software of the Microsoft asistant must be installed." demerit, most of them use windows OS and I have seen many switching to Windows XP recently. It has Merlin preinstalled and hence Merlin is recommended for the website use. So this too cannot be considered as a major demerit. This technique has demerits but they are not Major. A great ammount of people can see the assistants. Some people may also prefer to download it. So this can be used to draw more and more users to your website. -

Just try opening GMail without Cookies. It says "Your browser's cookie functionality is turned off. Please turn it on." Many major sites need cookies. Especially if you are in a business website, cookies are the one which help you through the way. But what are the problems of Cookies? What threat do they cause? -

Hello All Have You ever seen the above MS Agents in any of the websites ? They Demonstrate things,Explain,Greet your visitor, Give Information about the user and above all they give a pretty cool cool to your website! Want them on your site? This tutorial will explain on how to Integerate MS Agents in your website! For those who cannot understand what I am talking about or want to see a sample check them on sample page! ->->-> http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ This tutorial may feel every long but beleieve me I have made it easy as much as possible Advanced users may just take a time upto 10 Mins. Some of you might not be able to see this Agent in the above link there are plenty of reasons -> 1) You donot have required componenets to view them. ( Check More for the solution) 2) You donot have ActiveX controls enabled in your browser 3) Your firewall might be blocking the (agentsvr32.exe) file , if your firewall propmts for a permisiion to agentsvr32.exe allow it! 4) There could be many more reasons but users with Windows will have a cool stay! What it is? Actually this thing is nothing but calling off the Microsoft Agent(s) with most of them in Mircrosoft Office to your webpage with certain actions and speeches. This really gives a great look to your website. What you require? Actually there are 4 components required to see these/this agent(s),your visitor may too need this component(s) to view your cool website.Donot worry all the components donot exceed 2MB size! and THE MOST important is it only works in Interent Explorer as far as i know, I donnot know abt Firefox. Now how to know whether you or the user has or hasn't the required components? Visit this page, this page will automatically detect the required components and make a checklist and will give you the download link too if you have missed some! If you already have all the required components youm will be perfectlly able to see the sample page. Check Components Here ->> *** Components Check & Download Here *** Ohh! Now done with the every components! Lets start the work. What you need to do? Just costumize the full HTML code inbetween your BODY tags. The main Script! This is the main script : ( THIS IS THE SCRIPT PROGRAMMED FOR THE AGENT : MERLIN ) <!--Insert this in your BODY TAG--><OBJECT ID="Rainbow" width="0" height="0" CLASSID="CLSID:D45FD31B-5C6E-11D1-9EC1-00C04FD7081F" CODEBASE="#VERSION=2,0,0,0"> </OBJECT> <OBJECT ID="TruVoice" width="0" height="0" CLASSID="CLSID:B8F2846E-CE36-11D0-AC83-00C04FD97575" CODEBASE="#VERSION=6,0,0,0"> </OBJECT> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> // Script By Technik.Co.In CopyRight 2006 You can copy this script but you MUST leave the source " Technik.co.in ". <!--// var Char; var UsedChars; var CharID; var CharACS; var CharLoaded; var LoadReq; var HideReq; UsedChars = "Char"; CharID = "Char"; CharACS = ""; CharLoaded = false; Window_OnLoad(); function Window_OnLoad() { Rainbow.Connected = true; CharLoaded = LoadLocalChar(CharID, CharACS); if (!CharLoaded) { CharLoaded = LoadLocalChar(CharID, ""); } if (CharLoaded) { SetCharObj(); } CheckLoadStatus(); } function LoadLocalChar(CharID, CharACS) { Rainbow.RaiseRequestErrors = false; if (CharACS == "") { LoadReq = Rainbow.Characters.Load(CharID); } else { LoadReq = Rainbow.Characters.Load(CharID, CharACS); } Rainbow.RaiseRequestErrors = true; if (LoadReq.Status != 1) { return(true); } return(false); } function SetCharObj() { Char = Rainbow.Characters.Character(CharID); Char.LanguageID = 0x409; } function CheckLoadStatus() { if (!CharLoaded) { LoadError(); return(false); } window.status = ""; AgentIntro(); return(true); } // *** ERROR MESSAGE DISPLAYED WHEN REQUIRED COMPONENTS ARE MISSING - Technik.Co.In *** function LoadError() { var strMsg; window.status = ""; strMsg = "Error Loading Character: " + CharID + "\n"; strMsg = strMsg + "This Microsoft Agent Script requires the character(s):\n"; strMsg = strMsg + UsedChars; alert(strMsg); } // *** !!! ERROR MESSAGE END !!! - Technik.Co.In *** function InitAgentCommands() { Char.Commands.RemoveAll(); } function AgentIntro() { InitAgentCommands(); // *** CAREFUL : AGENT SCRIPT BEGINS HERE - Technik.Co.In *** // *** CAREFUL : AGENT SCRIPT ENDS HERE - Technik.Co.In *** } //--> </script> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" for="Rainbow" event="Click(CharacterID, Button, Shift, X, Y)"> <!-- // This event is a exaple on how to agent will react on single click! - Technik.Co.In Char.StopAll(); Char.Play ("Alert"); Char.Speak ("Hey, watch it with that **** mouse!|Oh that tickles!|ROFL!"); Char.Play ("Blink"); Char.Play ("RestPose"); // --> </script> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" for="Rainbow" event="DblClick(CharacterID, Button, Shift, X, Y)"> <!-- // This event is a exaple on how to agent will react on double click! - Technik.Co.In Char.StopAll(); Char.Play ("Alert"); Char.Speak ("Hey, watch it with that pointer! OK i'll go.|Oh you double clicked me it tickles more. Goodbye!|OK Bye!"); Char.Hide(); //--> </script> Find """ AGENT SCRIPT BEGINS HERE """" and insert CHAR script there! These things may feel though isn`t it? But read the whole tut i have just expanded it Now The Character Script ! You may have already visited our Sample Page I will take the Sample page as the example for the purpose of the character script! This is the agent script as there in the Sample Page. <!-- This Script should be placed in between the Agent Script--> Char.MoveTo(0, 0); Char.Show(); Char.MoveTo(900, 500); Char.Play("Greet"); Char.Speak("Hello and welcome to Technik.CO.IN"); Char.Play("Pleased"); Char.Speak("My name is Merlin! Its Nice to Meet u!"); Char.Play("Think"); Char.Speak("Now I am here for testing purposes, but soon I will appear at many places!"); Char.Play("Process"); Char.Speak("My reports show that u have comehere to test me"); Char.Play("Search"); Char.Play("GetAttentionContinued"); Char.MoveTo(584, 321); Char.Play("Suggest"); Char.Speak("\\Chr=\"Whisper\"\\Take Me With You!."); Char.Play("Sad"); Char.Speak("I know u would not dissappoint me"); Char.Play("Think"); Char.Play("Pleased"); Char.Speak("do u desire to take me with you?"); Char.MoveTo(10, 200); Char.Speak("Click at the link named Take this agent, to take me with you."); Char.Play("Pleased"); Char.Speak("\\Chr=\"Whisper\"\\I think the webmaster is coming, time to go bye!."); Char.Hide(); <!--Chararacter Script Ends--> Now many of u might ask whats that? The Commands which are present ONLY in the sample script. ( There are lot fo more commands refer below) :::: **** List Of all Commands and actions can be found below **** Char.Show(); ---> Displays or enables the Agent for which the cript is configured. Char.MoveTo(x, y); ---> Move the character to desired place ( X= Width ,, Y=Height) Char.Play("ACTION"); ---> Plays the desired Action ( Action needs to be replaced with the desired action see below for the action(s) list ) Char.Speak("U R Message"); ---> The Message that you want your character to talk! ( Replace Your Message) Char.Speak("\\Chr=\"Whisper\"\\U r Message Here"); ---> " Whisper Command " the character talks in a whispering way. Char.Think("U r Message"); ---> Only the white message box appears with your message in it. It displays as the agent is thinking. >>>>>Breaking up the commands<<<<< The Commands ->>>> 1) * Char.Speak ("Welcome To Technik.Co.In); * This Command indicated your character to speak the test inside the brackets and quotes. This works through the TTS Engine which is one of the four componenets. 2) * Char.Show/Hide(); * This Command respectively shows or hides the agent. 3) * Char.MoveTo(XW, YL) * This Command will move your character to the desired height and width. As for Merlin he takes a flight to the desired place. 4 * Char.Play("Desired Action") * This is the most important action of all the agents. This Command plays the animation u desire. All you have to do is Pick the animation from the list given below and replace it in place of Desired Action. Without this it wud be Bad! Now almost we have reached at last. And Below we are going to see list of animations !!! Animations for the agents.......... ("RestPose") ("Sad") ("Search") ("Show") ("Searching") ("StartListening") ("StopListening") ("Surprised") ("Suggest") ("Think") ("Thinking") ("Uncertain") ("Wave") ("Write") ("WriteReturn") ("WriteContinued") ("Writing") linenums:0'>("Acknowledge") ("Alert") ("Announce") ("Blink") ("Confused") ("Congratulate") ("Decline") ("DoMagic1") ("DoMagic2") ("DontRecognize") ("Explain") ("GestureDown") ("GestureLeft") ("GestureRight") ("GestureUp") ("GetAttention") ("GetAttentionContinued") ("GetAttentionReturn") ("Greet") ("Hide") ("Hearing_1") ("Hearing_2") ("Hearing_3") ("Idle1_1") ("Idle2_1") ("Idle1_4") ("Idle1_3") ("Idle1_2") ("Idle2_2") ("Idle3_1") ("Idle3_2") ("LookDown") ("LookDownBlink") ("LookDownReturn") ("LookDownLeft") ("LookDownLeftBlink") ("LookDownLeftReturn") ("LookRight") ("LookRightBlink") ("LookRightReturn") ("LookUp") ("LookUpBlink") ("LookUpReturn") ("LookUpLeft") ("LookUpLeftBlink") ("LookUpReturn") ("LookUpRight") ("LookUpRightBlink") ("LookUpRightReturn") ("MoveDown") ("MoveLeft") ("MoveRight") ("MoveUp") ("Pleased") ("Process") ("Processing") ("ReadContinued") ("Read") ("ReadReturn") ("Reading'") ("RestPose") ("Sad") ("Search") ("Show") ("Searching") ("StartListening") ("StopListening") ("Surprised") ("Suggest") ("Think") ("Thinking") ("Uncertain") ("Wave") ("Write") ("WriteReturn") ("WriteContinued") ("Writing") ^^^ So these are the actions ^^^ So at last thig BIG tutorial has ended! Was the tut good? Notice from BuffaloHELP: Copied from http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ You need to quote if it was already published.

Friday the 13th is a double-whammy of a day fraught with wicked omens ? especially for triskaidekaphobics, those haunted souls who have a crippling fear of that unmentionably evil integer that looms between 12 and 14. 13: The Devil's Dozen Take a look at this: ? If 13 people sit down to dinner together, all will die within the year. ? The Turks so disliked the number 13 that it was practically expunged from their vocabulary. ? If you have 13 letters in your name, you will have the devil's luck. ? There are 13 witches in a coven. This is all what is said in public (Myths). Though no one can say for sure when and why human beings first associated the number 13 with misfortune, the belief is assumed to be quite old and there exist any number of theories purporting to trace its origins to antiquity and beyond. It is said to have originated in the India with the Hindus (Norse Mythology), who believed, for some reasons, that it is always unlucky for 13 people to gather in one place, say, at dinner. "Twelve gods were invited to a banquet at Valhalla. Loki, the Evil One, god of mischief, had been left off the guest list but crashed the party, bringing the total number of attendees to 13. True to character, Loki raised hell by inciting (=showing disloyalty) Hod, the blind god of winter, to attack Balder the Good, who was a favorite of the gods. Hod took a spear of mistletoe offered by Loki and obediently hurled it at Balder, killing him instantly. All Valhalla grieved. And although one might take the moral of this story to be "Beware of uninvited guests bearing mistletoe," the Norse themselves apparently concluded that 13 people at a dinner party is just plain bad luck. " As if to prove the point, the Bible tells us there were exactly 13 present at the Last Supper. One of the dinner guests, i.e. disciples ? betrayed Jesus Christ, setting the stage for the Crucifixion. And Crucifixion took place on a Friday! The Consequences: ? Italians omit the number 13 from their national lottery! ? There is a hush-hush organization in France whose exclusive purpose is to provide last-minute guests for dinner parties, so that no party host ever has to suffer the curse of entertaining 13 guests. ? Skyscrapers and hotels have no 13th floor! ? Airplanes have no 13th aisle! ? The majority of purchasers refuse to complete on Friday the 13th! ? Now there is ?triskaidekaphobia?! : A phobia which is the fear of the number 13! Bad Friday Read this too: ? Never change your bed on Friday; it will bring bad dreams. ? Don't start a trip on Friday or you will have misfortune. ? If you cut your nails on Friday, you cut them for sorrow. ? Ships that set sail on a Friday will have bad luck :- Tale of H.M.S. Friday: ... One hundred years ago, the British government sought to quell once and for all the widespread superstition among seamen that setting sail on Fridays was unlucky. A special ship was commissioned, named "H.M.S. Friday." They laid her keel on a Friday, launched her on a Friday, selected her crew on a Friday and hired a man named Jim Friday to be her captain. To top it off, H.M.S. Friday embarked on her maiden voyage on a Friday, and was never seen or heard from again!!! Friday the 13th: A perfect combination! Now if you have bad Friday + Unlucky 13 = Friday the 13th , then things turn worst! Some observations: ? Fewer people chose to drive their cars on Friday the 13th. ? The number of hospital admissions due to vehicular accidents was significantly higher than on "normal" Fridays. ? The risk of hospital admission as a result of a transport accident may be increased by as much as 52 percent. ? From British Medical Journal in 1993 entitled "Is Friday the 13th Bad for Your Health?" Their conclusion: Friday 13th is unlucky for some. Staying at home is recommended!" ? North Carolina (USA) estimates that in the United States alone, $800 or $900 million is lost in business each Friday the 13th because some people will not travel or go to work. Well, the most surprising thing is that this superstition is common in developed countries like US and UK! There is no scientific evidence for ?Luck?. But can all these be just co-incidences? Or there is something which science has not yet seen! Will this be a mystery making Psychologists to bow down or ?? Better wait for the next Friday the 13th Notice from BuffaloHELP: Copying from various sources and putting them into one post is also agains forum rules. At least copied source: https://linkinpark.com/lpc/journals_coms.php?id=723563.

The problems are: 1) You may be thinking that plants only need Oxygen. , but let me tell you that the plants need oxygen for its respiration all day. The only thing they do on earth is that they give out more Oxygen than the Carbon-di-oxide. This is not possible on Mars coz the major content up there is CO2. 2) The normal temperature in the lower atmosphere is about 200 Kelvin, which is generally cooler than the average day time surface temperature which is around 250 K. 3) The powerful sun rays (due to absence of atmosphere) may cause mutations in the plants up there. 4) Plants on Earth are adjusted to the physical and chemical conditions of Earth through mutations. But if a plant was to adjust itself to mars then, it will just die (of continuous mutations). The Viking experiments found no persuasive evidence for life on the surface of Mars. But on account of my imagination, I sometimes think that mars was once like our beautiful Earth. People polluted the environment, the level of CO2 increased until the percentage was so large that it ultimately ended life on Mars. And it is Earths turn now

I like ZoneAlarm because it is powerful. But I receive cookie problems when I visit some sites. That is the only disadvantage. It rocks with its own Antivirus system.

I think you should change the colour combination. Use some light colours. Dark Green doesn't seems to be good.
