Microsoft's Tpm Explanation TPM True or False You decide
TheMessage replied to TheMessage's topic in Hardware Workshop
I don't mean for this to be some type of spam topic but it is a very important topic and should be addressed because the fact is that this chip is out in the public and if it's not in any of your electronics now it just might be in the next electronic device you buy. The other issue with this chip is that this technology can be applied to many electronic devices. We are allready at the mercy of the controllers because soon the TVs we are watching will be as powerful or more powerful then our computers. I beleive that soon this technology will control evey aspect of Video, Audio, and Data. I just want to educate as many people as possible about this unfair technology. Any computer can be secured very well with the proper software and configuration people just need to be educated about security. Thanks -
I've been looking into this TPM or Trusted Computing since it was mention around 2002 there seems to be a lot of confusion about this new technology. This new technology seems to be of great interest in the security end of protecting our integrity and personal data on our computers. The problem I seem to have with this technology is this, what does Trusted Computing really mean? Can we trust the hardware and software manufactures to protect us in the best interest of the people or is this just some kind of STEALTH PROJECT that will be revealed to us later when it?s to late to say ?we don?t want this new technology!? The way I see it is, if you don?t have one of these TPMs installed on your Motherboard then you won?t be able to connect to a computer or server that does also, if you want to be able to use any software other then what is considered Trusted then you might not be able to unless you disable TPM or the softwares has a signed certificate from Microsoft. This new technology is very confusing because of the type of control that this encryption has on our data. Let me explain, Let s say you have vista installed on your computer and you have TPM activated from what I understand with TPM activated vista will now encrypt your entire hard drive not just certain files. Also other Operating Systems and other software might not be able to use this data without the proper keys to decrypt the data. To me this sounds like a strange type of control over our computers. In my opinion I think there is much more to this Trusted Computing then they are telling us or want us to know. This scenario covers two common tasks that administrators would perform during a re-configuration of a TPM computer. These tasks are turning off the TPM and clearing the TPM.Some administrators may decide that not every TPM computer in their network needs have the additional protection a TPM provides. In this situation, it is best to ensure that the TPMs in those computers are turned off. The following procedure steps you through the process of turning off the TPM. I understand that a physical presence is not required to turn off the TPM. To perform the following procedure, you must be logged into a TPM computer as the local administrator. Clearing the TPM cancels the TPM ownership and turns the TPM off. This should be done when the TPM owner has lost their TPM owner password and recovery information was not backed up. The following procedure steps you through the process of clearing the TPM.This is how you would clear the TPM in case this ever happened. If you do not know your TPM owner password, click I don't have the TPM owner password, and follow the instructions provided to turn off the TPM without entering the password. From reading this reset or clearing of the TPM it would be possible to get your own network tap working and run a man in the middle attack to impersonate an authorized machine and you can turn TPM off remotely? And then re-initialize and reseal with your own (user invisible) password so it'll check out as working just fine, No local presence or password required? To me this could be the biggest flaw in this Trusted Computing security.Once the TPM has been compromised the entire security that this technology provides can be circumvented and most likely the entire hard drives contents can be decrypted and viewed. It?s my opinion that Trusted Computing should not be given this type of control. This new technology has a long way to go before it should be put into use.A little info on me, I have been in the computer security filed for over 20 years.I have been responsible for protecting and securing thousands of computers desktops, and servers, with companies such as, Bendix, Westinghouse, Griffin, and others I just don?t like when the controllers just decide to do what they want to do and we are the ones that pay for it! Look at GAS! is there a shortage? I don't think so! They just rise the price because they know we depend on it and need it!Well...don't you think the computer industry knows this too?Let me know your opinions on this topic please!

Look maybe your right!Maybe nothing will happen!Maybe thats why this chip has been so top secert since 2003!Maybe with this new technology it will make all of our computers safer!Maybe Microsoft really cares about it's users!Microsoft has always been fair to it's users and upfront with everything it does!Maybe Microsoft really wants to help Linux and all the freesoftware users!Maybe Microsoft will lower all of it's software prices!Maybe Microsoft will start to give us free open source code!Look at the facts! This chip has been out in the public since 2003!I am sure it was thought of way before then!Did anyone tell you about it?Or was this the first place you read about it? and it's what 2006!Also, what about sony?Would you ever beleive sony would install software on our computers without our permission?ALL I WANT TO DO IS LET EVERY ONE KNOW ABOUT THIS TPM CHIP!and guess what there will be no way to turn it off!Vista will tell you that unless you have this chip it will not install! This is one of the reasons MS pulled back on the release of vista! They need their big suppliers like Dell, HP, and others to get more computers with this chip in them out to the public!Wake up! It's all about the money!
-
Thats exactly what they want us to think! They want us to agree to this new type of security then once we do they change it!MS is not very happy about the success of Linux! But BG has to play by the rules!Beleive me there is a much bigger picture here! TPM must not be allowed to be activated!Spread the word! Tell everyone about this type of security! Tell the controllers we don't want it!
-
You are really missing the point! IT's about MONEY and CONTROL! Look at the big picture here! When did you know that the computer you have might have one of these chips in it? When did you hear about the Total Power Module? Were you given a choice not to have it installed! Also they can be activated without you knowing it! Oh! wait you think it's only for the business computers. Open your eyes! Computers control everything in this world! It's people like you that allow this type of unfair control to rise and change it's colors! It's people like you that beleive what you read and not what you don't! These chips have been around since 2003 look they even have them built in some CPUs! What choice do you think they will give us over this control? You think they will allow us to just turn it off! I have been in computer security before the first worm was discovered! Look at sony using a rootkit to protect it's profits! You think they cared about the musicians that they infected with this crap! How about them they can't even sell their cds now because people are scared to use them! Wake up! This is CONTROL! People need to be educated more about computers! Then they can make the choice! Not just shove this type of control down our throats! Any computer can be protected without this type of control all we need to do is educate people! This type of control is about power! Power over the users or slaves!

The joke is on us! This is a major problem and it is very real, all of these controlling software companies relay on the users being naive or stupid this way they can do just like the government does sneak anything pass us that they want! We must spread this word NOW! We have to come together and protest against Trusted Computing! I know some of you are saying that Trusted Computing might be good, no more spyware, addwear, or virus. This is not true! there will be spywear and addwear only we won't be able to stop it just like AOL says we protect you from popups if this true what do you call the popup windows that have buttons on them that read No Thanks! this is definitely popups! Look the point is MS and the other controllers have something up their sleeve! TPM chips have been installed in over 20 million computers, PDAs and even cell phones as far back as 2003! I have a Dell v50 and found out that the TPM chip is in it! Possible! You buy a new computer with vista installed now because vista is the first OS installed or married to the Motherboard the TPM chip is now under MS command! Say you want to install a new hard drive in your computer, you buy the hard drive take it home install it now you want to format it maybe even install Linux on it you start the format procedure but nothing happens it just freezes or might even produce an error! After a few try s you call the vender where you bought the Motherboard he says you must contact MS so they can release the license or encryption on the Motherboard! Pretty funny right! THIS IS REAL! WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT! DO YOU REALY THINK THE GREAT AND POWERFUL MS PLAYS FAIR? Did you know that MS won a two year law suite over their FAT format? Yep that’s right MS now has a patent for their FAT format! This means that all other manufactures or software designers will probably have to pay MS a royalty to use their FAT format on any of their hardware or software! Look people the facts are out their just look for them! I could care less about piracy, MS was built on piracy! We need to be in charge of our computers not the controllers! Paranoid! That’s right I am paranoid! I have a company that depends on computers and their right to use what they want on their computers! If all the venders decide with MS to install this TPM chip just because of this so called better security we all lose! There might not be a Motherboard made that does not have this chip in it or a CPU! Come on POST more about this unfair take over! I agree, but what if the mighty MS has a way of not allowing other operating systems (even XP) access to any files or documents or even connection to vista in the future? remember vista will encrypt the hard drive entirely and not allow any other OS to read, modifiy or write to it! The TPM chip will only allow new hardware to be installed if it has the correct keys or serial number. Maybe you will need to contact MS and ask them if you can install that new hard drive MS just might say No! or even that video card, maybe that memory stick, most likely any piece of hardware you want. I read that MS considers that the operating system must be married to the Motherboard. So if you want to run Linux you will need to buy another Motherboard. Trusted Computing must be stopped!

Why Linux Can't Be And Not Equal To Windows Linux = Windows
TheMessage replied to keysmaker's topic in Operating Systems
I agree with what you are saying, but if this TPM chip gets activated it will change the way we use our computers. it will only allow what the controllers want us to do with our computers. Look I have been a computer engineer for over 16 years and I have also taught computer sicence I have seen the controllers change the way computers are used and what we can use them for through these years. this is just another way for them to slowly control any computer they want! Think about this! If Microsoft forces all thier venders to install Vista in all of thier computers, like Dell, Hp, and others this will give Microsoft a great advantage of control, maybe they don't care about Linux but with this chip they can even prevent Linux from being installed on any of their computers. Maybe no more Duel Booting, because Linux won't be able to access vista's encrypted hard drive. I think Linux is great but if Trusted Computing has full contol over the user we all lose Linux included! Image if vista was installed on a computer then you wanted to install Linux maybe you would get a new hard drive oh! wait, the TPM chip won't let you install it! I don't think we need hardware control! whats next! control over what we can watch! wait, they already have that is called HD DVD and other encryptions. -
Here is a link to an Intel Motherboard that has the TPM chip installed! Scroll down the page and you can read about this chip Heceta 6e Intel® Precision Cooling Technology Trusted Platform Module (TPM) on Gigabit LAN SKU only This link will take you to the page with the photo of the Motherboard, once there click on the enlarge note download the photo(right click select save picture as) save picture then open it and zoom in scroll up to the top left side look just below the SATA 1 connector and right above the CMOS battery there is a small 28 pin chip, this is the TPM chip. Ok What does this mean! Linux will also support Trusted Computing! Come on! Why does Linux need Trusted Computing! I new the Linux community should have never gotten into bed with MS! Now this will make the opensource community $$$ hungry! Think about it! Why does Linux have so much support from the powers that be! Could they have something up their sleve? This TPM chip must be destroyed! They mak it sound like it will help us and protect us from Malware thats just the wolf in sheeps clothing! Heres a link! Linux is about to become Microsofts SLAVE! http://www.computerworld.com.au/

Sorry, but this is happening right now! Longhorn will the first operating system to control the TPM chips! I beleive MS was the reason behind this TPM chip. It is in over one million computers allready from PDAs to Cell Phones to Desk and Laptops. It's like a zero day virus, the chip is just waiting to be activated! Unless a lot of us protest against Trusted Computing they will just shove it down our throat! MS has always been pissed off over Linux acceptence and now it will do anything to smash it or control it! I agree, yes, we might be able to remove or bypass the TPM chip, but what about when Intel, AMD and IBM start building it directly into their CPUs! This has to be stopped and i mean right now we can't until vista comes out and starts it controlling plan! But what can we really do? I know there are a lot of people against Trusted Computing but so far this is a reality the chips are in our computers! I don't even know what this chip looks like! I can't find any information about it's structure! I tried to email someone a while ago about it, I had a few replys then they stopped replying then I found out their email address was deleted! Look at the big picture, MS does not care how long it will take for thier plain they just know eventuly it will be complete! Check this link out! theirs some good info here! just read between the lines! http://lxer.com/module/newswire/view/57261/index.html

Gates is planning a huge takeover soon the circle will be complete!Think about this!LONGHORN or VISTA will support a new technology known as TPM or Trusted Computing this will be on the hardware level. By having this chip installed in every computer, and i do mean every computer we as the users will no longer be able to decide what we can and can not do with our own computers, they will, the controllers. this list is very big and powerful and growing bigger as we speak some of the biggest powers to be are part of this group like, Intel, AMD, IBM, and of course Microsoft. understand this with this kind of power controlling the design and building of our computer hardware and software we will no longer be able to choose what we want to use on our computers. Linux has been gaining some major support in the last few years but with TPM this will all change also now that Intel has begun to install thier chips in apple this community will soon fall to the controllers too. Look at this! PC and Apple have been two seperate parts for many years not any more soon the head of the beast will choose it's body and it will protect it positon anyway it can. this is going to be a slow and hidden takeover but the wolfs are amoungst us right now and have been for many years. soon our freewill will be taken from us by the controllers through the means of computers. we will all fall slaves to the computer. If you don't believe me just type Trusted Computing in a search engine and follow the links.Antichrist? how about his technical army?Freewill! Freedom of speach! and Freedom! will all be controlled very soon!Spread the word stand up against Trusted Computing.Dell, Gateway, HP and many others have allready infected us with these chips they started shipping computers with these chips install as early as 01/01/2005.Is the chip in your computer?Don't ignor the signs! Somethings comming! Notice from BuffaloHELP: Topic title modified.
