What Do You Use Your Computer For? it seems I am way behind...
Hamtaro replied to spawn_syxx9's topic in Software
Mainly I use mine for programming. However, I do sometimes use it for entertainment. Especially while I'm programming. I also use it to visit a few websites, chat on Instant Messengers, and a few other things. One other thing I do is work on my website. I don't normally play games on it. -
I've not had to deal with viruses much, but I hate any kind of malware. It makes me mad, too. Well, I guess they make them because they don't have a life and just want to cost people (and compainies) to loose as much money as they can. As much information as some people store on computers, they could create some of them to destroy that information. Anyway, I really wish people would stop making them, but they won't do it any time soon.

I like the new layout, too. Although I've never needed the edit button that I know of, I'm still glad that we now have it (and that people won't be able to cheat the credit system with it). Anyway, I really like the upgrade. Great job!

I don't buy very much, but I sorta like those kind of checkout lines. They can get frustrating, however, especially with their bugg item bagging thing (as you've mentioned). However, as a whole, I enjoy using them, and I actually find them to be quicker than checkout lines where a cashier has to do it for you. I've also never sen many problems with having many items used on them. Still, if you have no idea how to use them at all, they can be even more frustrating.I remember when they were first put into some of our stores around here...(about 2 years ago). They were much more buggy, and messed up a whole lot more. It's still being developed, but at least it's been drastically improved over the years. In fact, I know see them in all the new stores (especially Wal-Mart). Anyway, perhaps in a year or two the software on them will be greatly improved and not so hard to bag an item with.

Trap17 Problems (down) Trap17 Problems (down)
Hamtaro replied to joeysicily's topic in Web Hosting Support
Well, it could also be your ISP. I have dial-up, and even when I'm NOT disconnected, I get that message sometimes. I find that it happens when there is slow communication between my computer and my ISP. It could be other problems as well, though. However, I'm not really noticing it that much. Also, when it says it for me, it does it for other sites. When it says that the server couldn't be found, did you try some other website for the same message? -
I try to avoid labeling people. I hardly ever do it, However, I may accidentally do it. Anyway, if I labeled people all the time, I wouldn't have the good friends that I do. (They aren't exactly seen by other people as a friend...). Anyway, most people who get the bad labels are usually really nice. Somehow, I always wind up with friends who most people try to avoid (and it doesn't bother me any). I think people spend too much time labeling people. I mean, you could find a really good friend that you "labeled" as being bad, weird, a freak, and all those other things. Although, you really shouldn't worry about what people think about you. I used to, and I was made fun of a LOT. Anyway, now that I ignore them they don't bother me any.

Around here where I live, we don't have ANY Spanish stations. Most of ours our country (my favoirte kind of music!). However, we do have a few Spanish channels on TV. I don't really mind the fact that many things in America are in more than 1 language. I actually like listening to things in other languages sometimes. I, too, don't thnk that America actually has an official language. There are many people in America that speak more than one language.

Php "newline" Character Printing Fails All the output is on one line
Hamtaro replied to jlhaslip's topic in Programming
What you need is the <br> HTML tag before each newline character. HTML doesn't accept newlines. So, for example (using the example you used): echo "this should be <br>\n<br>\n a new line here <br>\n and here, too";You won't need to do the carriage return for a new line in the page. -
Type Without Buttons Ultra sensitive lasers
Hamtaro replied to illdevilinc's topic in Science and Technology
I think I've heard a little about this from somewhere, but I didn't know everything that you mentioned. That sound really cool! I bet that will be very expensive when it first comes out (and judgin by the way it sounds, my guess is around $1,000 or more...). Still, though...I like the standard keyboard we have right now a lot, but I'd say I could get used to that type of keyboard. Still, though, I still would like to try it out. -
I'm new at FTP, but I may be able to help you. Possibly, one way that you could do it is to add a / in the directory box (JUST a /). I've not tried that yet, but it should give the user access to the entire public_html directory. (However, access to everything in the /home/you/ folder cannot be granted that I know of, if that is what you're looking for).

My Spanish Teacher Argh enough to drive me to drink
Hamtaro replied to Albus Dumbledore's topic in The Vent
Wow, that's so hard to believe that a teacher is behaving like that. Anyway, hope that teacher gets fired if he's doing everything that you say he is. Oh, and it seems to me like we all have some weird experiences with Spanish teachers. For example: At my school, there is a teacher who everyone says is gay (not that there's a problem with that, that fact is not my point). Everyone's also complained about how he acts (since I don't have his class, I can't tell you much about it. The Spanish teacher I have right now is nice). -
Wow, that's so hard to think about! I spend all my time that I possibly can on a computer! I would be SO bored if the world had no computers! Plus, I would not have a clue about what my hobby would be! While I don't know exactly how it would be, I may actually find another hobby without them (not that I want to, though).

You mentioned in your first post about "social status". Well, around here, many people really don't care about whether you have your permit/license to drive when you're 16, or have nice clothes. No, we're not poor, we just don't care about the stupid stuff like that. Also, I like money, but don't want too much. However, I also hate it when I hear about people killing others just for money. Money is sorta like some people's feelings that I've seen towards other people: You love them, and you hate them. Unfortunately, money basically "controls" our lives, sorta. Just think of what we wouldn't have without money...

He shouldn't have been messing around with that! I mean, come on! What person in their right mind would shock someone with that as a prank?! It's so stupid!! All because of someone's immature behavior, someone lost their life. It's just plain ridiculous! I don't care if he meant to do it or not. They shouldn't let anyone on a job like that who likes to play pranks.

I'm...sorry to hear about all that. That has GOT to be the worse thing ever. There's nothing worse than family abusing other family members (especially if a parent does it to their child, or vice-versa). Any parent that can act like that in front of/to their child needs some SERIOUS help. I'm glad to see you dealing with it, though. It's just...so sad that parents can do things like that.

"grand" Login System? To Forums, Chat, and Site
Hamtaro replied to webmaster_2006's topic in Programming
I'm not that great at PHP, however, for the chat may not work with IPB and the rest of the site. You may have to have a chat script on the server with the forum and site on it. However, perhaps if the chat server sends out a cookie, you may be able to do it, but as far as I know, you can't do a login with a remote server. If you have access to the server, then you may somehow be able to do it. Anyway, sorry, but that's all that I can really tell you. -
I've used a Lighscribe disc before, because it came with the computer that my mom got. Personally, I like it. It can take a while for it to create the label, but it turns out looking good, even with monochrome colors. However, I've only used it once. It's amazing...all this new technology we're starting to come out with.

Intelligent Design Vs. Evolution which should be taught in schools?
Hamtaro replied to semeticsister's topic in The Vent
I think they should teach it. I mean, I don't believe in evolution, and I am FORCED to learn it. It's only fair to those who do believe in evolution to be taught something that they don't believe in. I can't stand learning about evolution. Personally, I'm also getting tired of hearing about the debates on this on tv. By the way, don't insult religous people! Heck, I'm not extremely religous, but I still defend my religion. I sorta consider that comment to be offensive to me, as well. -
I've barely used a Mac, but I do think that I like them. I'd like to see one of the Macs running off of an Intel chip. I really hope it turns out to be really good. I barely use Apple's products, but they appear to be pretty good. I think this is a good move for them.

I found that out the hard way that it only works in Interneet Explorer by messing with it while using Firefox. Anyway, if JavaScript is diabled in the browser, those scripts won't work. I don't recommend relying on JavaScript to do those things. You can print the date in PHP if you really wanted the date on a page, and not rely on JavaScript..

I'm mainly looking up stuff for Hamtaro and many of the other shows that I like. Sometimes, however, I search for video games, website designing tips, and PHP programming. Sometimes even Linux-related stuff. Thing is, if I don't know where to find something at, I use Google. It's the only search engine I use.

That's sad. Only living for that short amount of time...I don't really think the kitten looked that ugly. Poor cat. I love animals, so it's sad for me to hear about things like that happening to animals. Also, I would hate to keep it in the freezer, Plus, the cat should be BURIED and not placed in the FREEZER. I know scientist may want to study it, but still. Anyway, there's my opinion on the matter.

I had a cold not that long ago (probably about 2-3 weeks ago), and it was bad. Coughing a lot, contant runny nose. However, mine wasn't as bad. I know how you feel, though. Colds are extremely bad! I hope to never get a cold again! Heck, even cold medicine didn't help me much. My nose never bled that much, though. In fact, I don't think it bled any. That would sure stink with it bleeding so much.

Man Out Of Jail After 24 Years Of Innocence
Hamtaro replied to Plenoptic's topic in General Discussion
Interesting. That is a lot of time to spend before finally being proven innocent. That's also pretty bad that it took so long. Anyway, good thing DNA testing proved him innocent. Would have been bad if he spent all that time in jail for something he didn't do. -
What Is Your Favorite Song? And who is it by?
Hamtaro replied to Albus Dumbledore's topic in General Discussion
I have no idea what my favorite song is, but my favorite singer is Garth Brooks (country, which most people seem to hate country!). Anyway, my favorite song would more than likely be one of his.
