  1. Lubuntu

ubuntu is the name of a distribution of linux.

    It has several versions.

A version that can be seen like a sort of a fast version is Lubuntu.

One of the reasons for the fast speed of Lubuntu is the desktop.

Lubuntu uses the lightweight desktop LXDE.

Other specifications are the light applications.

The focus of this version is speed and energy efficiency.

    The website of Lubuntu states:

Lubuntu is a fast and lightweight operating system. The core of the system is based on Linux and Ubuntu. Lubuntu uses the minimal desktop LXDE, and a selection of light applications. We focus on speed and energy-efficiency. Because of this, Lubuntu has very low hardware requirements.

The name of the website is:

    http://lubuntu.net

LXDE is a desktop, that uses a relative small amount of resources of the computer.

LXDE means: 'Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment'.

    The website of LXDE states:

    LXDE

The "Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment" is an extremely fast-performing and energy-saving desktop environment.

The LXDE desktop allows Lubuntu to work on old computers and old laptops.

Lubuntu rolls on computers and laptops with small specifications.

The specifications regard mainly the processor and the internal memory.

In the words of the website of LXDE:

LXDE uses less CPU and less RAM than other environments.

  2. Yes, Elina, it's working.

    Maybe this statement is true.

If the statement is true it might be expected that the myCENTs information sign will appear under the name of the user name.

    Maybe this takes a while.

Recently at least two new accounts didn't get a myCENTS sign under their name.

This gives a small reason to doubt the quoted post.

  3. A bootable usb stick has two main functions. The first function is to run the linux distribution from the usb stick. In this scenario the operating system isn't installed on the hard disk. The second function is to use the usb stick to install the linux distribution on the hard disk. This can be seen as a relative fast installation method.

  4. This topic delivers the option to ask anything.

    You can ask everything.

Everything you always wanted to ask can be asked here.

The topic doesn't have any awkward boundaries.

And the question doesn't need to be related to any topic.

This is within reason a completely free place to post a question.

  5. https://www.pendrivelinux.com/

https://www.pendrivelinux.com/ Offers a tool to create a bootable usb stick.

The tool installs a distribution of Linux on the usb stick.

The tool can install a downloaded distribution.

The  tool contains a list of distributions and versions of linux.

Another way to find distributions is http://www.google.com// .

And wikipedia offers lists of distributrions.

This means that there are several ways to find a distribution of linux.
