Open your modem status, check SNR and Attenuation value.SNR must be higher than Attenuation value, also check HEC Errors, if some errors its probably from cable due to old or broken.

If you use windows xp, there is two options. Option one: Try remove the driver, restart your computer and then plug in your modem, if detected reinstall the driver. Option two: Restart your computer and go to Safe Mode (press F8 while booting), and then follow option one. Hope this help.

Your cable is to long, maximum for LAN is 8 meters, except you use good quality LAN cable. Every more than 8 meters you must use Port HUB or router to continuing to another cable. Hope this help.

In your Local Area Connection properties try to use manual TCP/IP, dont use it Automatically.If you use modem router, you must see what is IP of your modem router, normally IP for modem router is 192.168.1.1 and then use this IP for your computer number 1: 192.168.1.2, computer number 2: 192.168.1.3, and so on.
