  1. I used Bitdefender Internet Security for 4 months and when I scan it will get some viruses but didnt delete it. It says 'no action'. I already updated it but still it doesnt clean/delete the viruses and trojans.

This is because not al viruses can be detected or deleted by your anti virus porotection. This has happened to me it has sed cannot delete. Sometimes it will tell you what file it is located it in look in that file and try deleting it manually. p.s this dosnt always work depends on what virus you have.

  2. Well... sorry to disagree with you mimi_m, the "huge problem here" is that i use broadband internet connection.. meaning: I'M ALWAYS CONNECTED!, so i need my antiviru software to RUN AT ALL TIMES!, beasides, McAfee it's stopping viruses too!!!
Why do u think a service like Hotmail (a huge cominuty) uses McAfee virus scanner rather than Norton?????

I'm not trying to attack Symantec.. Particion Magic IT'S EXCELENT!, but their antivirus is not... sorry

Well recently i have had problems installing norton 2005 so i have switched to avg anti virus which seem to be much better in my opinion. Anti virus software only makes your pc boot up slower because it is starting all the programs in your quick launch toolbar and the more things that needed to be started when booting up makes it that bit slower but it shouldnt make a majour difference. If you are virus canning your pc while browsing the internet i have found this makes your web browser take longer to buffer vidios even make them crash but i have an old pc so this could be why.

  3. I am currently using avast! Home Edition on my desktop computer along with Sygate Personal Firewall Pro which I did not purchase but just got the serial somewhere :) They both work very well for me but avast! is like Symantec products, hogging much of your memory. Sygate, on the other hand, uses only 8MB and you can actually terminate some services on avast!'s control panel such as P2P Shield or whatsoever. You don't really need it anyway since I don't really see the point of using it when you already have real-time protection by its Standard Shield. As for antispyware, I am using Microsoft Antispyware Beta, Spybot - Search & Destroy, SpywareBlaster and Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition. I also have a hardware firewall in my 2Wire HomePortal modem.
On my laptop, I use AntiVir Personal Edition, a reliable antivirus that doesn't take much of your memory away from you together with the Windows XP SP2 built-in firewall. The antispyware bundle is the same, excluding Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition. I do not run Warez P2P on this computer since it's only a laptop and I don't expect it to blow up in my face...heat is a problem since I think AMD processors heat up too fast in laptops.

Well i use AVG anti virus protection which i recently downloaded this week because i had problems installing norton. And i also you kiero firewall wich i dont think i have evr hasd any problems with it always seem to be the anti-virus portection in my case but it could be my firewall aswell am not to sure

  4. Here are a few recommended Anti-Viruses from my side:
#1 QuickHeal (Free trial available, and cheap cost)\
    #2 Kaspersky
    #3 AntiVir (Free)
    #4 AVG (Free)

I found Quick Heal to be the best since its extremely light on resources and is pretty fast. It may not be as stringent as Norton or McAfee but is a decent buy and provides robust protection.

O also dont forget that your any virus protection soft ware dosent protect you from evry virus you get on your personal computer that is why you should be scanning every file you download before you open and install the folder. I also suggest that you download lots of free anti-virus software ant try all different ones and which ever on you like best in your opinion you should use. You should also defrag your computer evry so often to make sure all your files are in there correct rightfull places and to make sure your computer is working in the fastest possible way. I think the new ANG anti-virus sortware has just come out aswell. I fort that 7.5 was really good so this should only be better because it is an improoved version with faster scanning and updating so your sytem is protected. And if you forget to scan your pc you can set reminders on some anti-virus programs that pop up at the time you set it reminding you to scan you files and computer.

  5. well i tried avast home edition wich is free and i like very much...its simple and very efficient..but eset nod32 continue being the best in my opinion

I suggest you use the free avg and i think the free new trial has just been released. By the way virus programs dont detect evry virys on your computer so take care to scan it every so ofetn to make sure your pc is completely virus free

  6. Here are a few recommended Anti-Viruses from my side:

Personally i would prefer AVG. I have recently installed avg because i have been having problems installing norton. I am only usin the free trial but i am thinking of upgrading to the new one because in my opinion you cant go wrong with avg if you update it regularry and scan your pc often

  7. ......

He says his antivirus has already detected and deleted the virus...

but he has the problem that when he double-clicks any drives it autoplays/autorun ....

To solve the autorun problem try this.

goto START > RUN and type command

after the command prompt is open

    type these commands

    c:

    attrib autorun.inf -r -h -s

    del autorun.inf

    d:

    attrib autorun.inf -r -h -s

    del autorun.inf

    e:

    attrib autorun.inf -r -h -s

    del autorun.inf

    f:

    attrib autorun.inf -r -h -s

    del autorun.inf

    g:

    attrib autorun.inf -r -h -s

    del autorun.inf

or if you dont know to use command prompt...

reply me and tell me how many drives you have...

and which drives give you this problem of autoplay.

If you feel / know that the trojan is spreading on your network.

You can try using Avast Anti-Virus Home Edition (its free)

After you install it it will ask you to scan HD during boot time. (when the virus is not avtive)

And set Network Shield at high.

I have had lots of trojans and normally when i get a virus that bad i have to format my computer because it is running so slow because of the virus i cant do now. Once i scanned it it was goin that slow it took 3 days to scan. I suggest you scan your computr and all the files you download regularry. Scan tht files before you open them and this should prevent you from getting viruses.

  8. OK, glad to see that there are no more 10g install issues, and everything is working fine now.So, we learned something from your adventure : we have to be system admin when starting and Oracle install on a Windows system.
Which is not fully the case when installint on a Linux or on a Unix or AIX box. On a Unix box, you prepare the install as system admin (rootpre.sh has to be fired by the "root" user), then you perform the whole installation as a standard user, and only at the end you have to become the system admin "root" user in order to fire the last install scripts name "root.sh".
Now, we are happy for you, enjoy your Oracle on Windows install.
    Yordan :)

Go back and do the instalation slowly and make sure you fill in al the spaces because you may have missed something out
