Heard about this a week ago. I just found my old Star Craft disc so I'm going to start playing it again so I'll be ready for Star Craft 2. If only I can find my Brood War expansion too. I'm a sucker for real time strategy games and Star Craft is a classic. Its still fun today. I have a lot of friends that still play it at least once a week. Sometimes more.

Pyramid schemes are pretty great way to get rich. Tell people they can get rich by joining your program. Then when they join tell them to make their dollars they have to get other people to join your program. Writing a get rich quick book works great too. Simply write a book telling people exactly what you did to get them to buy the very book they're reading. Thats usually all get rich quick books do.

I just installed Vector Linux last night and am using it right now. I downloaded and installed the newest standard version. So what do I think? Well, the installer was text based, but fairly easy to use and also very fast. It took only about 10 minutes to install. It installed faster than all the other distros I've tried so far. It installs the Lilo boot loader which I do not like as much as Grub, however, this is a minor issue to me.

Though initial boot up was about average, this is by far the fastest linux distro I've used (except maybe for damn small linux). My experiences with installing packages in Vector Linux have confirmed what I had already believed. That is that despite the help of advanced packaging tools like slapt-get and gslapt, dependency issues are much more of a problem than what one would be used to using a debian or rpm based distro. Adding extra repos like the one available from http://slacky.eu/slacky/Pagina_principale helps a little bit. Still there are far less packages available for Vector Linux than there are for other more popular distros. I do somewhat like it, however, I'm not so sure I'm going to stick with it. Though I'm capable, I'm just simply not committed enough to deal with all of the dependencies issues I've been having with this. I think I'll stick with Fedora or Debian.

Firefox 2.0+, by default, spell checks only multi-line text areas. To spell check single line text fields such as search boxes you typically have to right click and click "spell check this field" in the context menu. The following tweak will make it so that spell check is always on by default for ALL text fields.

 

 

 

1. Open a new tab and type about:config in the address bar and press Enter.

 

2. In the filter field type layout.spellcheckDefault

 

3. Double click on that entry and enter 2 into the pop up box.

 

4. Click OK.

 

 

 

You're done .

 

Now you should no longer have to manually turn on the spell checker to see if you are spelling a word correctly when searching or typing a forum topic title.

I'm making a site that is basically a library of various public domain books, audio files, and videos. Most of these resources will probably not be hosted on my site. At least not the audio and video files. I just need a CMS that will allow visitors to sort the resources by type (text, audio, video), author, title, and subject, and also allow tagging.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How so?

It was indeed, for quite some time, practically the only Christian church. However, it was not the first. The book of Revelation refers to at least seven early churches in John's time. The church of Ephesus, the church of Smyrna, the church of Pergamos, the church of Thyatira, the church of Sardis, the church of Philadelphia and the church of Laodicea. We read of some of these in earlier books starting with the book of Acts.

There were many other churches in John's time too and many Christian churches were persecuted until Christianity became the official religion of Rome. The Catholic church was, however, the first universal church. It early on tried to monopolize Christianity, persecuting those who continued the practices of earlier churches, such as keeping the seventh day sabbath.

if anything, it should be Christians vs. Protestants as it makes a lot more sense.

As I said, it was one of the only churches for so long, not as a result of continuing the Christian tradition, but as a result of force. Therefore I don't feel that Christians vs. Protestants makes any more sense than Christians vs. Catholics. Granted the latter doesn't make sense either and I would've pointed that out myself had nobody else beaten me to it.

Here are some of my suggestions.For the email application give users the option of having it loaded in the system tray so they can get notifications when they get emails. Letting them choose how often it should check for new email (every minute, every 5 minutes, ect) would maybe be a good idea too.For the messenger, webcam and mic support would be great if you can. Notifications at the bottom right corner when people sign on off or send messages in a window thats minimized would be great too. This should be possible to disable, however. Chat room support might be nice also.

Firefox is more secure, more customizable and more standards compliant. Customization is what really attracts me to Firefox the most. With the right plug-ins one can turn this ordinary browser into a powerful web developing and social networking tool. IE is just another browser to me and a somewhat dangerous one at that. I really wasn't impressed with the release of IE 7 despite the added security features and tabbed browsing. I also hate active x and think that support for it shouldn't be on any browser.

Firefox is my favorite but sometimes I feel that its a little too bloated. Since reinstalling windows I like using K-Meleon sometimes because it is the fastest browser for Windows. Opera has its nice features that I'm fond of using from time to time too.

WOW.. this topic is alive again since 2005. And you can see such a drastic change in internet speed for just the past 2 years.
Think I need to answer the topic, so mine will be 6000kbps down and 1500kbps up for as low as $US36 per month. Petty good deal huh.

I'm am living in upstate NY and using Time Warner Road Runner. I get 5 Mb/s down and 764 Kb/s up. Service is unlimited. With the 3 in 1 plan (cable, internet, digital phone) its about $30 a month ($90 all together) and $40 without the 3 in 1 plan.

I prefer IPB. I wouldn't use phpBB for a really active forum. It has too many exploits. I also agree with an earlier poster that vB is best for a really active forum.

Does anyone else play this great game?

 

Its my all time favorite strategy game. If you've played Civ games you probably remember that one way you can win without conquest is to build a ship and launch it into Alpha Centauri. Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri essentially begins where the Civ games leave off. Its a lot like the Civ games but takes place in space. One thing that makes it unique, however, is that it gives the player much more control over the "faction" that he controls then you have over your nation in the first three Civ games. You get to control your factions politics, economics, values, and what type of futuristic society it will develop into later in the game. Different types of government, values, and economic systems have different strengths and weaknesses. Many of the more advanced concepts in Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri have been adapted into Civ IV.

I love ET's ranking system and Objective based gameplay. ET is unlike any other 1st person shooter and has so much that other popular 1st persons shooters don't have. While I wouldn't try to compare it to other greats, I will say it is in a league of its own, and has its place among the other great 1st person shooters. Its definitely a favorite of mine.

Just checked the Firaxis site. There are actually two demos for Gettysburg. One that allows you to play as the Yankees, and one that allows you to play as the Confederates. There is also one for Anteitam (which is older) too.

I have Sid Meier's Civil War Collection (Sid Meier's Gettysburg and Sid Meier's Antietam). I really enjoy it along with a number of other Sid Meier's games. Its pretty much the only battle game of its type that I play regularly.

This is a great resource but I don't think users of Adobe products will find that the Linux alternatives measure up.

My misses got me to sign up to one and try it to mess around for fun, what a dumb thing to do.

They spammed my mobile with messages AND IT CHARGED ME!!!!!!!!!! FOR SENDING ME MESSAGES AND TOOK ALL MY FRIGGIN CREDIT ($15+), how the hell can they do that legally or at all?

I have no idea, but just armed with my mobile number and nothing more they can sap all my credit in seconds :S.

Instead of Ubuntu I would recommend Linux Mint or Simply Mepis. Both of these are based on Ubuntu. However, if you are willing to put forth just a little bit more effort, I do think Fedora is worth a try. It too is quite easy and has an easy to use graphical installer.

I'm especially a sucker for strategy games. Mostly real-time strategy games but my all time favorite strategy game, Alpha Centauri, is turn based.

 

Don't have any game consoles since I sold my X-Box and someone stole my Playstation.
