Sorry to revive an old topic, but I'm in desperate need of some help here. What tyfoon mentioned about using the LiveCD in case there's no way to boot onto Windows is exactly what happened to me. My Vista Ultimate crashed for some reason and I can't boot it up again, so right now I'm using the ubuntu LiveCD. I'm planning to backup all my important files to my external hard drive and then format my hard drive. The problem is, I can't backup my Mozilla Firefox favorites because they're in the Documents and Settings folder and I can't see anything in the Documents and Settings folder. Does anyone know if there's any way to enable viewing of the files in the Documents and Settings folder? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
