I read that length contraction (a result from the special theory of relativity) is invisible. This was only discovered in 1955. Isn't it strange that this went unnoticed for 50 years!

They are objects that have one pole instead of the usual two that can be found on our earth or on an everyday magnet.They have also been discussed as possible solutions to theories of quantum gravity. Thoughts?
