  1. I've been using Google's e-mail service, gmail, and found it great. I don't want to make a post saying only this, so I'll make a comparation of its features against its competitor's ones.

Space: MSN Hotmail, in its paid version, provides 2GB of storage. Gmail currently gives you 2,5GB. The fact is that this space is continuosly increasing, and you may check it at gmail's homepage. So, it is not only the biggest e-mail, it's also the only one that grows. Comparing to free services, the biggest one I've found is at spymac.com, which is 1GB. In this aspect, gmail beats competence.

Pricings: Gmail is free. Such a price, by definition, is unbeatable. There are a lot of free e-mail services, but they can only tie, never win, to gmail, since they offer the same price: free. So, in pricing, gmail is tied with many sites at top.

Advertising: I'll avoid comparing with paid systems, because they do not need advertising, only to free services. Hotmail's free e-mail main window takes about a half of the screen, since the other half is invaded by banners. Other systems are a bit discrete, but there is always at least a banner ad. In a gmail account, when you open a message it is scanned automatically for keywords; these keywords are used to select a set of text ads that are clearly separated in a column at the right, as done in Google's search results. No banners at all, and all ads are relevant, so Gmail beats again.

Language: Currently, gmail is available at 29 different languages, and they are working on more. In most e-mail services, you have only english available. There are many that also allow the local language of the providers, so you'll normally have one or two languages to choose from. Another point for gmail.

POP access: Of course, gmail provides you POP access, to download your mail through the software you prefer. But gmail goes beyond allowing, it helps you to configure your e-mail client step by step and even provides a tool that does it for you on the most used clients: Outlook (& Express), Eudora, etc. The nearest competition on this feature is the Outlook-Hotmail combo: since they are both from Microsoft, Outlook is able to access your Hotmail account giving only the username and password. Even so, gmail's tools are wider and better. Once again, gmail clearly beats.

HTML mail: well, they are not the best here. Even gmail gives many options for html formatting, such as font, color & style, it's beaten by those services that allow you to write your own code. So, in this aspect it's good but not the best. Maybe only half point here? Anyhow, remember that gmail is still a beta, and it won't surprise me if in some weeks they improve that.

Xtras: Gmail notifier allows you to monitor your mail from the system tray. Picassa makes managing and mailing image files a children game; you may convert among formats, resize to save space and bandwith, and many other features.

So, features speak for themselves: gmail rocks! Also, I'd like to make some comments: Google's philosophy is to beat competence by making its products widely better. Even if they achieve this or not, there is no doubt they do their best. That forces the competition to improve a lot to keep the bussines going on, and in a medium and long term, it's a great benefit for users. Also, remember that gmail is still in a beta stage, which means that Google still do not consider it enough.

    Hoping be useful,

    Herenvardo

PS: I've a lot of invitations for gmail. If you need an account, PM me telling why do you need it and I might send you one.

I know. All my friends are using it but i'm still using the hotmail. :D

  2. I was looking for a good free host, when I came across PHPNet.us. They promised no ads, 100 percent uptime, and PHP and MYSQL databases (unlimited number of dbz). I was like, dude, this is too good to be true. And it was. The uptime they promised was nonexisitent, because for two hours after the initial 10 minute period I got to check out phpnet it went down, meaning the entire server, I couldnt even access the homepage. Then after those 2 hours, I tried logging in and it wouldnt even accept my real username and password!! I tried logging in FTP from SmartFTP, My Computer, AND Firefox, none of them worked.
What's even worse is that during a BIG FTP upload of some CMS stuff and things like that it just went down, and then I had to restart the WHOLE upload. And I have a slow upload, only 16 kb/sec (128 kbps).

Lastly, I couldn't even use my domain name with them, they only had a subdomain option. I was considering using the domain name with another host and then doing a php redirection, but that would mess up my pagerank and would be a total nusiance.

Hopefully it was just a temporary thing, but if Xisto gives me hosting, then its enough to drive me away.

I've had same problem in Freehostia.com. And it will be never again worked. :D

  3. New Garry's Mod. New life. Scroll down to read more!

"Garryâs Mod, the Source-powered physics sandbox famed across the games industry, is to be sold over Steam for $10 US, with profits split 50/50 between Garry and his team of contributors and Valve. What is currently known as version 9.1 will lose its number and become the initial paid release, while the current version (9.04) will remain as a free demo. All updates will be free. The sanctioned selling of full, third-party mods is new territory for the games industry, and with no sign of Black Catâs Alien Swarm: Infested it seems that Garryâs Mod will be the first to cross the line.

The practice has both its advantages and drawbacks, and I spoke to Garry to see where GMod falls among them.

"A new GMod with regular updates for $10" is Garryâs summary of the deal for buyers. Itâs the cheapest price point Valve maintain on Steam, and the same price as the voluntary donations that have bought keen players banners on scoreboards, enhanced forum features and beta access in the past â although, citing logistics and the gap between buying banners and games, Garry explains that those donators will have to pay again along with everyone else."

"Steam might be helpful in that scenario, but exposing GMod to a new pool of players and excluding those who canât or wonât pay is going to put the community under significant strain, and what comes out when the dust settles will almost certainly be very different, even if that settling takes several months. Garry is optimistic on the matter. âPetitionOnline will probably explode,â he admits, âbut eventually I think everyone will see that this is a great moveâ.

The litmus test of whether or not they do that will be the relative sizes and productivity of the paid and free communities. The two versions will not be compatible, 9.1 being the rewrite it is, and as time goes on the gap between each will grow. Will more people pay than drop out? Will the older credit card-holding audience be as drawn to GModâs brilliantly silly, ad hoc gameplay? Will the new community without younger players be a better one? Garry certainly thinks so, but what will actually happen is anyoneâs guess. The potential gentrification of an online game should be interesting to watch."

And of course GMod 10 haves a new models and LUA scripts. GMod 10 is fully new coded. On example you can create a hoverballs and new thrusters. And best is you dont have to get that annoying crossbow. Now you have an Tool Gun!

Hoverballs in action! As below you see the hoverballs are a nice addon to GMod. Example you can build flying cars without balloons and thrusters. You just simply control hoverballs on your keyboard. Hoverballs can be attached to an NPC or an ragdoll too. So let's rock!

And on GMod 10 there are fixed so many camera problems. Now you can see yourself on car or on render target screen. Isn't cool?

  4. I found this review on internet:

"The stand-alone Guild Wars: Factions is the second campaign in ArenaNet's massively multiplayer online RPG, The Factions campaign, which can be played either connected with the regular Guild Wars or as its own separate game. Guild Wars Factions takes place on the continent of Cantha, where new and existing Guild Wars players join an epic quest to defeat an ancient evil and save a war-torn empire. New scored challenge missions and strategic competitive missions allow players to test their roleplaying prowess and earn the right for their alliance to take control of cities, towns and outposts. Large-scale alliance battles pit teams from opposing factions against each other in a struggle to conquer new territory and redraw the battle lines across the continent of Cantha. New elite missions allow the most skilled players exclusive access to areas of the ultimate cooperative challenge."

I might will buy this game. :D

  6. I rated 2/5 because graphics are stunning bad and game is althourgh boring. One good thing is the gameplay. You can chop wood and mine stone and kill orcs. But... It's althourgh boring. I don't know why. I have got a 69 level account and i got scammed two times and hacked/banned three times. There are too much swearing and scamming in this game too. Althourgh most of people are using macros! A little programs what will get they money when they are sleeping. Stupid, yeah?
