  1. Thanks for the info, im gonna use a mixture of all the methods to make a secure login script for my own page which has a news-system and a CMS, and i have made it all myself, and i think i shall finish it myselfBut i need some input on general login scripts, the layout.
  2. I am making a login script which atm uses a cookie to set login status.I would like to include sessionwise checking into this. And also an IP check, where i write the IP to database and later get it for all other pages and then check it up to the client for each page.I need to know the commands for:- getting an IP- Starting a session- Ending a session- Reading a session
  3. Have been looking into Ubuntu a little. Using slackware now. Ubuntu seems to be the best for dualbooting with windows. Ubuntu is also fairly easy to install, just make sure to backup documents and files on the pc to install on.I have tried installing som SuSe distro, hung up several times and made my pc go all crazy afterwards.
  4. Seeing as your interest in making a huge interactive text game, i believe starting out with PhP/MYsql combination would set you on the right track the fastest. Let's see, to get the hang of PhP i erally recommend this tutorial. It gives a prime look at PhP and it has a section on MySQL as well. Starting out with that, i believe you might just get to programming a text-based web game. Good luck with your programming. (i will also be able to help out with some stuff if you ask me) The things that will be hard, is how to test the things without a remote host... I recommend you get Bizzar server if you are running windows 2K/XP as it is great, and runs Apache/PhP/mysql and comes with the PhPMyAdmin tool.
