I've been asking along this week , how to set a authentication prompt on windows 2000 professional , because i'm trying to create a secure file sharing cpu. Well... i remembered that linux is very great in stability and secure. I've downloaded and installed Mandriva 10.1 because he already brings Samba package, but i cant get him inside my workgroup, because he creates a defautl work group "mdkworkgroup" something like that. I'm not very expert in linux systems but i know that he can be configurated to Serv Files Sharing ( Only ). I know there are alots of diffrent linux distributions but i dont know witch is better to set up a server. I'm asking to you know witch distribution you recommend to this particular job. Its important to say that all my network computers are windows. thks.

Hey guys i need some help here. Well i've installed windows 2k for use as archive server. Well i've created the user account and set the premissions, so far its all ok. But now i try to connect to shared folder in the archeive server and he ask's me a 1st prompt ( only if is the 1st time i log in ) and i logon using a any account witch i ve made before. Well everything is ok, but next time i access to server archive folder he doesn't ask for authentication, so i only can enter in folder1 using Cpu1. If i desire to enter into my folder using another computer i cant because, this CPU2 already entered his user & password account. There is anyway to force users insert username & password everytime he access to archive server shared folder ?

Which Virus-protection Program Is The Best?
marretas replied to Darren1405241470's topic in Software
Well i have an theory... Once that virus companies want to sell them software's, they everyday try to work out the security in computers, but i think this is not the only thing they do. They also may make the virus so they sell his one antivirus, and this is all a big snow ball roling down the mountain. Other companies find the cure for other companie self created virus, and develop another. So we are stuck and are forced to have an antivirus, so they all do for protect my pc. -
DVI is High quality image, but we can see throw a naked eye the diferences between VGA and DVI. Some while ago i bougth a Sony BRAVIA 26" LCD Televison and also can connect to a Pc, but only if he supports HDMI( high definition Multimedia Input ) Well VGA does not support HDMI, so i felt the need to sponsor a DVI ghrafic card. So if you dont need High Definition in your PC i dont need to buy a DVI Card.

The dogs, Lucky and Flo are capable to recognize the smells from CD and DVD and point the suspect packages. The dogs training was payed by MPAA ((Motion Picture Association of America) and for FACT (Federation Against Copyright Theft). Dog's are used to identify bomb's, drugs in aeroports, but this is a first time that they are used to act in Copyright programs combat.

I've never heard about a keyboard that shuts the pc by pressing the CAPS LOCK key. Well the keyboard isn't one of a specific brand but what he really does is shuting down the system. Severall days ago a person asked my for help. Its seems that he cant do anything with the pc, and he automaticlly shutdown the PC. Well after some hours trying to solve the problem i realized that each time he press the CAPS LOCK key the windows starts at once shutting down. I check for keyboard settings but the keyboard doesn't has own software its just a simple and lame keyboard. I even start question if wasn't a lame virus inside the keyboard, or just is a short-circuit. Well the fact is that i try it on 4 diffrent pc and all did the same. LOL if this is an isolate case i might try to sell it on ebay. LOLOLOL anyone had the same/simillar problem ?Sorry i've rong with the key . Wasn't CRTL buT CAPS LOCK . Sorry
