NEW Windows Media Encoder x64 Edition 9
Comparing 32-bit and 64-bit Versions
You can encode audio and video content in Windows Media Video (WMV) format using either the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version of Windows Media Encoder 9 Series. The version you choose will depend on your encoding scenarios.
The new Windows Media Encoder 9 Series x64 Edition contains the same feature set as the widely used 32-bit version of Windows Media Encoder 9 Series as well as the following updates:
VC-1 video codec. Windows Media Encoder 9 Series x64 Edition includes support for a fully SMPTE-conformant version of the new VC-1 video codec. Windows Media Video 9 Advanced Profile is part of Microsoftâs implementation of VC-1, which is the proposed SMPTE standard that delivers high-definition quality with highly efficient compression rates. It requires less computational power and can be decoded at full 1080i/p resolution on a typical computer. Windows Media Video 9 Advanced Profile delivers high definition (HD) content at bit rates as low as 6 Mbps to 8 Mbps.
Windows Media Digital Rights Management (DRM). In contrast to the 32-bit version of Windows Media Encoder 9 Series, the 64-bit version includes a separate DRM Protect Utility that allows you to apply DRM protection to your content files after the encoding process is completed. The DRM Protect Utility uses the information in the DRM profile you select to encrypt your content with a key, and other digital rights management settings that are specific to that DRM profile.
The DRM Protect Utility is available only for the 64-bit version of the encoder and cannot be used with the 32-bit version. Additionally, the DRM encryption functionality in the 32-bit version of the encoder does not work with the 64-bit version.
Encoding Scenarios
Windows Media Encoder 9 Series x64 Edition is designed to introduce you to the x64 support found in Microsoft Windows Vista. Therefore, some encoding scenarios are not yet fully optimized for the 64-bit version of the encoder. You should determine whether to use the 32-bit or 64-bit version depending on your encoding scenario and on your plans to migrate to x64 versions of encoding applications.
Scenarios that are optimized for the 64-bit version include:
Encoding 720p HD 2-pass PVBR content on quad-processor and dual-processor computers.
Encoding 720p HD AVI using the new VC-1 codec on quad-processor and dual-processor computers.
Scenarios that are not yet fully optimized for the 64-bit version include:
Resizing content from AP HD to AP standard definition (SD).
Encoding high-quality SD content.

I bought My 6230i a while ago... trust me im not gonna make the same mistake again...I just recently got a Motorola V3 RAZR cell phone from http://www.letstalk.com/. The price tag said, "Free." Let me warn you, it really wasn't free. You have to pay for the phone and then they give you rebates and stuff, which then equals free. But by signing up for a free cell phone from that company, it constitutes agreement in paying for a yearly contract for your cell phone to be able to call people. So I scored a deal, they get paid by the phone distributor, the phone company (mine's T-Mobile) gets the money, everyone wins! One thing though, their customer support isn't that great. Let me rephrase that, it's like America Online. After getting the phones, I ordered Bluetooth and haven't gotten it since. Complaining to the support line didn't help, they just gave me the cold shoulder. Anyway, at least I got a free phone. My service rating is -5/10. However, my overall rating is 7/10. I'm quite generous.
I bought it on Orange - UK. From local shop on cashback deal(pay monthly)...
The deal was i get My Nokia 6230i free (£30 monthly)& and nother fone completely free -
But from My bank They Were Taking(orange) £150 - so i foned them up ........
they replied i go back to the shop every month and get my cash back ...
2 problems - i dont have much spare time
& the shop is 8 miles away - (i moved houses),
After 4 months i cancled my direct debit and still now i get letters.lol
(IM NOT INCOURAGING U TO DO THAT!!)IT'S WRONG - I cant afford it so i had to.
NOTE: I talked to orange and took time - they agreed to let me settle in new home then pay after few months (VIA COURT)...

MY MESSAGE IS STICK TO THE NORMAL TARRiFS Dont FALL 4 Cash Back Deals or U might be paying Over Double like Me ... lol

Considering that HD-DVD is an inferior format to Blu-Ray, I don't see HD-DVD really catching the following that Blu-Ray will. I heard a rumour that Blu-Ray wasn't going to catch on for the sake of no backwards compatibility with DVD media, but I doubt that's the case, as say, the PS3 is still going to be backward compatible to play PS2 discs...And those discs just happen to be DVD media...enough said.
What does the XBOX 360 Use -
I know It Has Wireless Remotes using Bluetooht 2,
but whats disks do it take...
thanks

But since you made an attempt to cite the original author's name and source site and the fact that you're new here - you're getting off with a verbal warning only. Be aware that if you'd copied the material and NOT mentioned the source, it'd have been considered plagiarised and you'd get a strong warning in such a case. Too many warnings lead to a ban.Now since this article wasn't written by you, you cannot be granted any points for it.

January 4th, 2006
We will be back with a fresh Editorial right after CES 2006 have ended. Until then, follow the headlines left on this page.
---------------
The two formats fighting for supremacy as the next-generation videodisc format are HD-DVD (developed by Toshiba and NEC) and Blu-ray (developed by Sony). The DVD Forum supports HD-DVD, but this does not mean that HD-DVD has won the format war.
Blu-ray has Sony-owned Columbia Tri-Star behind them, plus Sony just bought MGM. Twentieth Century Fox and Disney have also committed themselves to Blu-ray, but a high-ranking executive at Disney has said that they still hope and would argue for a unified format. HD-DVD is backed by Time Warner (Warner Bros., HBO and New Line), Universal (DreamWorks), and Paramount. At this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the HD-DVD camp announced that they will be releasing a slew of titles on HD-DVD before year's end, including "Batman Begins," "Braveheart," and the âHarry Potterâ series. However, the launch now have been delayed until February or March.
Both formats look strong and, sadly, it looks like a format war is unavoidable. But a war can be tough on the success of high-definition content on DVD and may create hesitation on the part of consumers eager to invest in it.
Now, who deserves to win? Who has the best format? A very hard question to answer. Many Web sites have been quick to announce Blu-ray the winner because Blu-ray seems to be the strongest of the two. I donât agree and feel these sites have been caught up in Blu-rayâs publicity machine. A format should not be judged on technical specifications alone. It is an important factor, but in the case of Blu-ray and HD-DVD, the two formats will both be able to deliver the best-looking HD content possible. So one should also look at the cost for implementation and manufacturing. Here HD-DVD is much cheaper and faster to produce. Another thing that many people forget is the power of a name. Ordinary people know what DVD is about, and they can easily understand that HD-DVD has the benefits of DVD, but with HD content. With Blu-ray you have to explain all over again that it is like DVD, only better. Then, ask the public, why donât you call it DVD?
No, I donât think that Blu-ray should just roll over and play dead, but I think that Sony (the main company behind Blu-ray) should have tried harder to work with the DVD Forum and to work toward a unified format instead of simply believing that whatever they came up with would be the best. Letâs pray for a miracle and that a unified format is still possible.
The last word has not been said in this saga, and we will continue to follow the developments closely and give you all the stories as they happen. So as they say â Stay tuned.

have you heard of blue ray...
articlefrom bluray.com
Blu-ray Disc
Blu-ray, also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD) is the name of a next-generation optical disc format jointly developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), a group of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer and media manufacturers (including Apple, Dell, Hitachi, HP, JVC, LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, TDK and Thomson). The format was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data. A single-layer Blu-ray Disc can hold 25GB, which can be used to record over 2 hours of HDTV or more than 13 hours of standard-definition TV. There are also dual-layer versions of the discs that can hold 50GB.
While current optical disc technologies such as DVD, DVDÂąR, DVDÂąRW, and DVD-RAM use a red laser to read and write data, the new format uses a blue-violet laser instead, hence the name Blu-ray. Despite the different type of lasers used, Blu-ray products can easily be made backwards compatible through the use of a BD/DVD/CD compatible optical pickup and allow playback of CDs and DVDs. The benefit of using a blue-violet laser (405nm) is that it has a shorter wavelength than a red laser (650nm), which makes it possible to focus the laser spot with even greater precision. This allows data to be packed more tightly and stored in less space, so it's possible to fit more data on the disc even though it's the same size as a CD/DVD. This together with the change of numerical aperture to 0.85 is what enables Blu-ray Discs to hold 25GB/50GB.
With the rapid growth of HDTV, the consumer demand for recording HD programming is quickly rising. Blu-ray was designed with this application in mind and supports direct recording of the MPEG-2 TS (Transport Stream) used by digital broadcasts, which makes it highly compatible with global standards for digital TV. This means that HDTV broadcasts can be recorded directly to the disc without any quality loss or extra processing. To handle the increased amount of data required for HD, Blu-ray employs a 36Mbps data transfer rate, which is more than enough to record and playback HDTV while maintaining the original picture quality. In addition, by fully utilizing an optical disc's random accessing features, it's possible to playback video on a disc while simultaneously recording HD video.
Blu-ray is expected to replace VCRs and DVD recorders with the transition to HDTV over the coming years. The format is also likely to become a standard for PC data storage and HD movies in the future.
