Theres a ton of programs that are supposed to shut down your computer really quickly for you. These programs might or might not work, but the two I tried work well...anyways, what I end up using everyday is my plain old "Power" key on my keyboard lol It shuts it down in like 8 secs and is safe (so far) for me to use.

Personally I don't see what all the talk about ie 7 is about. I am perfectly fine with the all the OTHER browsers except ie, and I doubt ie 7 will change this. I was on somebody's computer the other day, and they had the beta release of ie 7. To put it simply, it look the same to me. lol Neither he or me noticed a big change in performance, sercurity, or any other big issues. So Ill be sticking with Firefox for at least a little bit longer....

Yeah i got that mouse a few months back. And guess what? I didn't get it for a mac, I got it for my windows system. I actually thought it was pretty nice, with good confortabilty (is that a word??) Anyway, I tried it with AOE3 and it was just ok. I usually stick to my regular mouse for games. -
Talktoaliens ? is that possible ?
thename1000 replied to darkool's topic in Websites and Web Designing
This is definatily an abosolute scam. I mean there is no prove that there are aliens to recieve this message. Even further, there is no assurance that the people with this website will or can send this message at all. So no, I wouldn't waste my time or money on it. -
It doesn't look that bad to me, I mean its made by a respectable company and has good functionality. And 512 mb is good for a jump drives. Most resonable priced ones are only around 100 or 150 mb. As long as the price is resonable, I would definitly get it.

Yeah to me the overall layout is good and simple, with just black and white mostly. Although I think there is too much white space at the bottom.

By the way, you can also use GAIM to talk over google talk. Its easy to set up and works ok. Oh yeah and I heard the other day that the most of the google services, i.e. talk, gmail, was going to come out of beta around the end of 2006

If you want to use the spell checker feature for the Opera web browser, then you must download and install the required files. After this, it gets tricky. The Opera web site doesn't really give accurate support for this, so you must do it manually. Opera is supposed to autodetect the spell checker, but if it doesn't there is an easy solution. Go to where opera is installed on the hard drive, and open the config file "spellcheck". Then just edit it to point to where your spell checker (probally aspell) is installed, restart opera, and bam, you now have a web browser with a working spell checker!!

Ok well it sounds like the modem driver is still either not correctly installed, or just it is not the right driver. You should also make sure Quicken Download Manager or any Quicken products are not on the computer, because that has been known to cause modem issues with win 2000.

Yeah I used to have this virus. It not only slowed down my internet connction speed, but intermitenly shut down my computer also. I use process explorer too lol, and used it to determine what tcp/ip resources this process was using. I got rid of it the manual way, by finding how by google, and deleting the reg files it uses. Until you get it deleted, you can go to the tcp/ip tab of process explorer, and turn off the connections its using
