What Maple Story lacked wasn't necessarily the pvp. The problem was you had literally no reason to interact with the other players. You could always group up if you wanted to, but it wasn't at any point necessary to do so.

I suggest looking into achaea(achaea.com) and aardwolf(http://www.aardwolf.com/). They both have very active userbases and great support teams. Achaea has an interesting skill-building dynamic in that you join clans which teach you skill-sets. Aardwolf has a more standard class-based system, but it has a very in-depth items set.

I used to play Gunz. I quit after A) I got bored with it and I heard about how vulnerable it makes your computer. It's like putting a neon sign outside of your access ports flashing "Rape my computer." It was a lot of fun while it lasted though.
