  1. Well, I am going to put my foot down and say that if you want to get the absolute best digital camera your going to want the Canon EOS 1D Mark 2. This camera is used by most professional photojournalists, and travel photographers. Now, if you want to have a good profession digital camera, that you don't have to sell your soul for, take a look at the Canon EOS 350D (rebel XT in north america). This camera is really small, light weight, and has an 8mp cmos sensor. The sensor in this camera is no different than the one in the EOS 20D so you get the same picture quality. The big difference between the 20D and the 350D is the way the body is constructed. The 20D is a magnesium alloy, but the 350D is just plastic. If your not looking to take any professional shots and just want a cool little digital camera, then go with the new Sony DSC-T7 (The super slim one). This camera is one of the coolest looking things ever, and with a 5mp sensor the quality is great too. And for all of you who keep saying buy Nikon, you guys are crazy. Nikon is so far behind in digital that all their new models are just desperately trying to be half as good as a canon.

  3. Hey people, So, I got the message saying that I have been approved for hosting and I just needed to click on the link to set up my account. So I clicked the link, went to create account, put in all the info, and proceeded. I waited at the next screen for about 45 min, but nothing happened. So I clicked stop. Then it displayed the info that was there, which said, blah blah blah whatever you do don’t hit stop or refresh. But it did say you should only have to wait about 15min. So I wasn’t too worried, but it was late so I gave up for the night. I logged on the next day, and to my surprise, I had the same amount of credits as I did before I created my account. So, I tried to log onto my cpanel. Nothing. Just a cannot connect to the url. So I don’t know what’s going on. If anyone out there can help I would appreciate it.
  4. Hey again, Just in case some of you are out there wondering why your pictures never look clear when you open them in photoshop, it's probably because you aren't adding a little bit of sharpening to your photos. Sharpening will make your images look clearer, which is what you want. Please note that you should sharpen your images when you have completely finished editing them, which means that you should do all your crazy editing before you sharpen. Now when you sharpen, you might not be able to see the effects, but trust me they are there, and if you are printing your images you will notice a big difference. So, shut up already and tell me how to do it. Actually this is the easiest part. First choose the magnifying tool and zoom in till your image is at 100%. Then, you simply go to the filter menu, bring your pointer down to sharpen, and choose unsharp mask. In the box that pops up you will see the following three sliders: amount, radius and threshold. Most people have no idea what numbers to enter so I suggest starting at amount 125% radius 1 and threshold 3 . Now, I don't recommend changing these setting too much, even though they go up to extreemely high numbers, most photographers will never go past amount 200% radius 4 and threshold 3 . Happy shooting
  5. Hey again everyone, So you have decided that, rather than making color photographs you are going to try and market yourself to the large color blind audence by making only black and white images. So you take all your photos and simply desaturate them and you think, "yeah, this is sweet, what a cool B&W photo" WRONG! You made a black and white photo but you did it the worst way possible. So, if this is what you are doing, then you need to read this. Now, I am glad you chose to make some nice B&W photos. It was once said by someone who someone else oblivious felt was worthy of being quoted that "If you use color you can show the color of someones clothes, but if you use B&W you can show the color of someones soul" . Wow... lets just take a moment to reflect on that... Okay enough of your daydreaming, I know you weren't thinking of B&W. You were thinking of some beautiful tenecian goddess bathing under a sparkeling waterfall in a bikini... so lets get back to our better B&W images. Hopefully you have a good photo with some nice contrast to start with, so open it up in Photoshop. Now in the layers palette choose "create new layer" (the half black and white circle) and from the pop up menu chose channel mixer. Now in the channel mixer box you are going to need to change two things. First is the "output channel" which you will need to change to grey and then in the lower left hand corner you will need to check the "monochrome" box. Now some people will tell you that your numbers should equal 100% but don't listen to them, they were daydreaming about some babe in a bikini when someone who was smarter than them told them you don't need to worry about that any more. So I would recommend that you bring the red down a bit, and then pump up the greens and blues until you get a nice contrast going on. However it's up to you so just play around with the red green and blue until you get the image to look the way you want. When you are finished playing with the channels, (and all done daydreaming) you can just click okay. This will apply the settings and give you a nice contrasty black and white that looks the way you want. If you did it right, it should look nice enough that even the bathing beauty would say "wow, now that's how you do B&W" But before you finish remember (as always) to choose "save as" so you don't end up overwriting your original file. Cheers

  7. Hey everyone, Okay, so you have seen those cool photos in the magazines that have a nice film edge on the side and now you want to make one too. Well here's how. You will need the following1.) A piece of film2.) A scanner3.) Photoshop (the best program ever)First take the negative and place it in your scanner and scan the film at the highest resolutionOnce you have done this save the file in whatever format you desire (.jpeg to save space or .tiff if you want quality)Next open up the file in photoshop Using the crop tool cut out the unecessary space. You will only need one frame. This will reduce the size of the file. Nobody wants a huge file you don't need. After you have cropped out the empty space, save the file again. It is okay to overwrite the first file you saved. Now you are ready for the good stuff. Take the photo you want to add the edge to and open it in photoshop. Then open the film edge file in photoshop. Using the select tool select everything in the first photo (the one you want the edge around)Next right click and copy the image and paste in the second file window (the one with the film edge in it)This should create a new layer. Meaning that your film edge is the background and the image is layer 1. now you might run into the problem that you photo is too small and the film edge is huge. This is where it gets a bit technical. Go up to the menu and click on image>image size in the new window you can lower the dpi until it is the right size for your photo to fit into the empty frame. Once you have the photo fitting nicely into the frame you can go back up to the menu and click on layer>merge layers This will flatten the image so it's one file. Now go to file>save as (so you don't overwrite the film edge file) and save it as a .jpeg with a new name. That's it. Now you have a cool photo with a negative edge around it. Cheers
  8. Me too, I am watching my rating go up and up. Hopefully I can make it to 10 soon, then I can apply for some of this kickin free hosting.
  9. I don't know about the whole "coming out first" thing. Anyone remember dreamcast? That came out first and was probably the worst console ever. Does anyone still use one of those things? Anyways, I would have to agree that the games are what makes the console good. A good developer taking the time to make a great game that utilises the power of the console is what counts. If you look back at the early PS2 games, most of them were good, but not as good as they could have been. Personally I would rather wait for a few months after all the consoles are out on the markey and then see which console the major developers are spending the most time on.
  10. I think the best game by far was Burnout 3 by EB games. It kicked *bottom*, so much more to do than just driving a car around a track. The takedowns, and tunneling effect while driving were such a great idea. I can't wait to get the new Burnout revenge game. 10/10 for sure.
  11. Hey guys, Just read up about this crash, and from what I understand lightning didn't have any effect on the landing. My guess would be that the pilots were enjoying a nice bit of wine and cheese and didn't even notice that the plane was making its decent on autopilot in the middle of a huge storm. Just a guess though. Anyways, a funny little tidbit to ad in would be that one of the pilots ended up hitching a ride back to the airport from some guy who picked him up on the highway. Bet they had an interesting conversation. Cheers
