  1. hmm I like the idea of god creating the big bang and designing everything in such a way as to endup exactly like (he/she/it???) wanted, it ties everything together. Having said that though i dont believe or disbelieve in god and as for the universe expanding how do we KNOW that it is?? Im not saying it isn't just would like some evidence....
  2. Hmmm I like this debate.... Religion vs Science vs Philosophy (spelling??)I personaly believe the science perspective, we can only see a small proportion of planets in the universe so that means there could be a large number we cant see that could be perfect for holding life. And who's to say that the planet would have to be like ours to form life, we only thing that because we think that the life would be something similar to our own.... Im sure this debate will carry on until some little green men land and decide the answer for us.... BUT are they here already?????
  3. Hi I have the Linksys WAG54G broadband Router which, im not sure, but could have the similar firmware. goto the applications and gaming tab and add the port that needs to be opened and the ip address of the machine to pass through to and you should be ok.I wouldn't just disable your firewall as you would leave all your ports open for hackers to gain access to your machine.
  4. hmm don't know of any special enclosers that would do it but you could look out for a cheap second hand pc that supports SATA and set it up with linux or windows and use that as a network storage. If you both have gigabit ethernet get that on your storage box and it should be pretty fast too..Hope that helps..
  5. The easiest way to share the broadband connection is to use a router. I use a Linksys broadband router with built in 4 port switch and wirless access point. If you setup one pc with a modem and share the connection with the rest of your network then that pc has to be on all the time which defeats the object of having your internet connection shared, why not just use the one that is switched on. If you setup a pc to act as a router then you lose the functionalaty(spelling???) of the pc.A good broadband router with builtin wirless access point costs less than £90 so it makes sense to go with that option and it means that you get all you DHCP and firewall need done for you.
  6. well i reckon if you are wanting to run linux and windows on the same machine one good way, if you don't fancy partitioning your hd, is to install vmware and install the os into a vmware virtual partition. Thats how I run WinXP and Suse Linux together and the advantage is you don't have to reboot to switch os's and linux or microsoft os's will run just as fast in vmware. As for mac os the only way to get that running on a pc is to use an emulator like cherry os or PearPC but like Artluo100 said it would be v slow unless you have a super fast pc.anyway thats my opinion.
  7. well if the war of the OS world is between Mac OS Tiger and Longhorn there can only be 1 clear winner............Tiger OS as it is ALREADY OUT!!!!How can anyone possibley say longhorn IS better when it hasn't even been released??And after installing a beta demo of longhorn all I say was a skinned version of windows XP(maybe I wasn' lookin too hard.....).And after watching Steve Jobs keynote speach at the apple developers conference and seeing it running on my mates powerbook it does look fantastic.anyway thats just my opinion im sure some of you out there will disagree and fair enough we all have our own likes and dislikes!!!!
  8. Hello all. Iv just read this thread and although I have used both pearPC and Cherry OS I thought Cherry was a G4 emulator and Pear was a G3...... How could cherry have stolen the code??? not that i'm saying they didn't who knows what happend. Anyway I think the best solution to the problem is to buy a mac when the new intel versions hit the market cos the old non intel versions will hopefully be dirt cheap. On the topic of emulators being good/bad I think emulators are great cos without an emulator i wouldn't be able to run linux ontop of windows using vmware (which runs just as fast as it has direct access to system hardware) although emulating a mac on pc hardware does make it run v slow.
