  1. simple things to keep in mind when buying a computer1. Is it the latest technology?Technology changes rapidly. In order to avoid having an outdated system within a short time, buy the newest technology. Also be sure to make sure the computer is able to be upgraded2. Does it have everything I need?Does it come with a monitor? Does it have the software I need? Often you we see advertisements from office supply stores that show an entire system with monitor with a low price. Double check the fine print, sometimes they do not include a monitor. 3. What technical support is included?Almost all computers are essentially made from the same parts. Technical support sets one company apart from the others. Check to see if the company has toll-free numbers. If you buy an extended service plan, double-check to see what it covers. Sometimes the extended warranty only covers after the initial manufacturers warranty expires. 4. Is the advertised price after mail-in rebates? Often the advertised prices are after mail-in rebates and/or if you agree to purchase Internet service. The most common Internet service rebate is $400 off a new computer, if you agree to paying for three years of Internet service. I do not advise signing on for a long term contract. Three years in terms of changing technology is a life-time. Internet services will most likely change drastically in those three years and you will be stuck with the contract. If you do decide to go with one of these, make absolutely sure that there is a local access number (not long distance) for the Internet service provider and they guarantee they will keep local access number for you.

  2. If you are always on the computer and have some minor akes and pains....make sure you take a look at these simple tipsuse a good chair with a dynamic chair back and sit back in this top of monitor casing 2-3" (5-8 cm) above eye level no glare on screen, use an optical glass anti-glare filter where needed sit at arms length from monitor feet on floor or stable footrest use a document holder, preferably in-line with the computer screen wrists flat and straight in relation to forearms to use keyboard/mouse/input device arms and elbows relaxed close to body center monitor and keyboard in front of you use a negative tilt keyboard tray with an upper mouse platform or downward tiltable platform adjacent to keyboard use a stable work surface and stable (no bounce) keyboard tray take frequent short breaks (microbreaks)

  3. Your computer is a powerful tool to demonstrate your thoughts, but often the screen is too small for a whole class to see. There are several options for projecting your screen and they all follow some basic hook up procedures. The main options are: 1. Scan Converter which shows your computer desktop on a TV screen 2. LCD panel to place on strong overhead projectors 3. Projector which shows your computer desktop on a screen projection 4. (Different setup procedures not listed) Software to broadcast to other computers (see your tech person for availability)Any computer with a separate CPU (the computer box) and monitor can usually support a projector, LCD panel, or scan converter because they already have a port to plug the monitor in (this is where you’ll plug the device(s) in). The "all-in-one" computers (monitor and CPU in one box) will not support a projector, LCD panel, or scan converter unless a separate external monitor port has been installed. Here’s what you do: - Read the instructions that came with the projector, LCD panel, or scan converter. - Plug the monitor-type cable from the input port on projector, LCD panel, or scan converter into the monitor port in the CPU. - Plug the actual monitor cable into the monitor output port on projector, LCD panel, or scan converter. - Turn on the projector, LCD panel, or scan converter. - Turn on or restart the computer. This will allow the computer to sense the device if it needs to. - If it’s a scan converter, plug the smaller, video cable into both the scan converter (video out) and the TV (video in). - Turn the TV on and turn to channel 3 (or 4 or Aux). For newer TVs, you can scroll through a menu where you can choose the input type--choose "Video" or "Ext" or an equivalent (This is one of those "Play with it!" moments where you experiment with the settings until the you see the desktop on the TV.) - If it’s a projector or LCD panel, there’s probably a "sleep" or "power" button that will turn on the lamp. Once it’s on, use the menu buttons on the projector to select the input settings so that you can see the desktop being projected.

  5. I have't a clue if this is the right place so please forgive me. I was wondering how it is possible to connect my games consol to my PC. I know it can be done i just don't know how. I want to be able to record what would normally be displayed on the TV screen. I have software at the moment which picks up TV signals and displays them from the TV card, and I was wondering if it was possible to get the PS2 signals there too.I tried using an RF cable, connecting it through the aerial on the YV card, but no luck.Any ideas??Thanks.

  6. Ok...this might not apply to many of you but....if your in my situation (which ur porbably not) ...you may have a laptop which your school gives you for the whole year and has unlimited blocks on it......of cource ive gotten past all these blocks and one of them is the blocking of websites..........first...just go t netscape and download the browser....boom....when your not on the schools network and are on your own.....you can view ANY webpage whether its blocked or not.....ok...so ur in school and you want to go to a blocked webpage and netscape doesnt work.....theres a thing called an i frame which lets you view any blocked pages......

my favorite is one called rollerblast
    View this I frame here
Rollerblast is an i frame and it allows you to type in any website in its search bar and you can access it on a computer with limited access....

    some other I frames are
