  1. Well, first of all, I think we're going to need to have more easy-to-use Linux distros, such as MEPIS.

After that, there has to be some sort of PR campaign, to try to convince people that Linux is not only for nerds who have doctorates in Computer Science. That belief seems to be rather prevalent; there are actually people out there who think it's some sort of hacker tool. :D

Once that's all done, the pool of Linux users is probably gonna grow big time. :D

  2. If - make that when - Google makes an OS, I'm definaely not getting it. They actually store all searches, and even emails in GMails that have been deleted. Call me a privacy freak, but I don't want Google or any government watching my web habits. A Chinese reporter was recently sentenced to ten years in prison for forwarding emails to an American site he got from Chinese government officials telling him not to say too much in an article about the fifteenth anniversary of the Tianamen Square Massacre, after Yahoo! handed over information about his web use to the government.

  4. I'm considering setting up my PC for dual-boot, with Windows XP and MEPIS Linux. However, I have Norton GoBack, which boots up before Windows does.

What I'm wondering is, does anybody here know how this would work? I want to keep having GoBack boot at startup, so I can always recover my system if I get a Windows virus. But, I'm wondering if GRUB would boot before or after...if afterwards, it's be fine. But if it decided to boot beforehand....I may not be able to get GRUB to boot...and may even end up having a useless PC. >_<

    So....anybody know much about this?

  5. Well, with all the stuff about Google and privacy, I'm ditching my GMail account, and going with an account on my site. However, I want to use it with Thunderbird, and I've had problems with email adresses on sites I've been an administrator of before. So: what domains do I use for the ingoing and outgoing emails?

  6. The same thing started happening on my friend's blog: all of a sudden, he was getting a bunch of spam comments, sometimes five at a time or more. Not long after that started, Blogger introduced image verification for blog comments. He turned it on, and the spam comments came to a complete deadstop. Either the spammers were all bots, or they were people who were blind. :)

  7. I voted "Combination (doesn't bring profit)." I have ads on my blog, but last I checked, I had one $0.02 click. I've tried applying for a publisher account with SearchCactus, but I wasn't approved.

Anyway, I've been considering getting my own CafePress shop, so I could sell T-shirts, mousepads and the like with pretty much any image I can create printed on them...that may make me some cash. ;)

I also have a Froogle wishlist, which is linked to from my Blogger profile.

I did want to apply for an affiliate program with a company that makes four-wheeled bicycles that I'm interested in, but you have to be 18....bleh.

So, anyone know of some good money-making programs you don't have to be 18 for?

BTW, I may use the suggestion for a donation button. :)

  8. Hmm...well, come to think of it, I know a Linux geek, and maybe he'd install Kubuntu for me. But, Yellow Dog is supposed to be easy to configure for dialup modems. I'd plan on boosting RAM anyway....but then there's the risk of my sound not working (If I went with Yellow Dog, that is).

Of course, I could always just get a used IBM ThinkPad for $350-$400 from that Linux-lover friend, with MEPIS installed..... :)
