hi, the service provided by gmail is still BETA. it means it is still in the testing mode. my advice is never leave any files or data in gmail accounts without having a backup atleast until it comes out of the tesing mode.. i heard that gmail will be reducing account size to 500MB, i think it is a rumor... because google.com has enough space and bandwidth...

hi, if you have an IMAP account then you can send the mail using the imap_mail() function of php. it is similar to mail() function but is an authorative way.. because your email account will require authorisation while sending an emailhere goes an example..==================================imap_mail(PHP 3>= 3.0.14, PHP 4 , PHP 5)imap_mail -- Send an email message Descriptionbool imap_mail ( string to, string subject, string message [, string additional_headers [, string cc [, string bcc [, string rpath]]]] )This function allows sending of emails with correct handling of Cc and Bcc receivers. Returns TRUE on success or FALSE on failure.. The parameters to, cc and bcc are all strings and are all parsed as rfc822 address lists. The receivers specified in bcc will get the mail, but are excluded from the headers. Use the rpath parameter to specify return path. This is useful when using PHP as a mail client for multiple users. ================================

hi, It is possible to send mail from any account to any account using the php's built in mail() function.. for which is very easy to write the coding... wt you are supposed to do is just pass the parameters like from, to, subject, message .. and attachments if any, and your email will be sent in no time.. as Xisto.com supports the php scripts you can use it if you already have an account here...==============================================Example 1. Sending mail. If a fourth string argument is passed, this string is inserted at the end of the header. This is typically used to add extra headers. Multiple extra headers are separated with a carriage return and newline. Note: You must use \r\n to separate headers, although some Unix mail transfer agents replace \n by \r\n automatically (leads to doubling \r if \r\n is used). Example 2. Sending mail with extra headers. The additional_parameters parameter can be used to pass an additional parameter to the program configured to use when sending mail using the sendmail_path configuration setting. For example, this can be used to set the envelope sender address when using sendmail with the -f sendmail option. You may need to add the user that your web server runs as to your sendmail configuration to prevent a 'X-Warning' header from being added to the message when you set the envelope sender using this method. Example 3. Sending mail with extra headers and setting an additional command line parameter. Note: This fifth parameter was added in PHP 4.0.5. Since PHP 4.2.3 this parameter is disabled in safe_mode and the mail() function will expose a warning message and return FALSE if you're trying to use it. You can also use simple string building techniques to build complex email messages. Example 4. Sending complex email. Here are the birthdays upcoming in August! Person Day Month Year Joe 3rd August 1970 Sally 17th August 1973 ';/* To send HTML mail, you can set the Content-type header. */$headers = "MIME-Version: 1.0\r\n";$headers .= "Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1\r\n";/* additional headers */$headers .= "To: Mary , Kelly \r\n";$headers .= "From: Birthday Reminder \r\n";$headers .= "Cc: birthdayarchive@example.com\r\n";$headers .= "Bcc: birthdaycheck@example.com\r\n";/* and now mail it */mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers);?> Note: Make sure you do not have any newline characters in the to or subject, or the mail may not be sent properly. Note: The to parameter should not be an address in the form of "Something ". The mail command may not parse this properly while talking with the MTA (Particularly under Windows). ========================================

hi, in Mysql not only you can keep text or numbers but also you can keep files even of 50MB size.. for this to work you should set the Max_allowed_packet.. and you are done,,here is the procedure i have got for getting it done..==========================A.2.9. Packet too largeA communication packet is a single SQL statement sent to the MySQL server or a single row that is sent to the client. In MySQL 3.23, the largest possible packet is 16MB, due to limits in the client/server protocol. In MySQL 4.0.1 and up, the limit is 1GB. When a MySQL client or the mysqld server receives a packet bigger than max_allowed_packet bytes, it issues a Packet too large error and closes the connection. With some clients, you may also get a Lost connection to MySQL server during query error if the communication packet is too large. Both the client and the server have their own max_allowed_packet variable, so if you want to handle big packets, you must increase this variable both in the client and in the server. If you are using the mysql client program, its default max_allowed_packet variable is 16MB. That is also the maximum value before MySQL 4.0. To set a larger value from 4.0 on, start mysql like this: mysql> mysql --max_allowed_packet=32MThat sets the packet size to 32MB. The server's default max_allowed_packet value is 1MB. You can increase this if the server needs to handle big queries (for example, if you are working with big BLOB columns). For example, to set the variable to 16MB, start the server like this: mysql> mysqld --max_allowed_packet=16MBefore MySQL 4.0, use this syntax instead: mysql> mysqld --set-variable=max_allowed_packet=16MYou can also use an option file to set max_allowed_packet. For example, to set the size for the server to 16MB, add the following lines in an option file: [mysqld]max_allowed_packet=16MBefore MySQL 4.0, use this syntax instead: [mysqld]set-variable = max_allowed_packet=16MIt's safe to increase the value of this variable because the extra memory is allocated only when needed. For example, mysqld allocates more memory only when you issue a long query or when mysqld must return a large result row. The small default value of the variable is a precaution to catch incorrect packets between the client and server and also to ensure that you don't run out of memory by using large packets accidentally. You can also get strange problems with large packets if you are using large BLOB values but have not given mysqld access to enough memory to handle the query. If you suspect this is the case, try adding ulimit -d 256000 to the beginning of the mysqld_safe script and restarting mysqld. =============================hope you like it..

ASP or PHP Which you think is better
spotok replied to jamesleon's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I always prefer PHp as it is very similar to C programing just adding $ to variables and other smaller changes. It is easy to trace an error in PHP than in ASP. Intigration with MySQL is also quite easier.
