  1. Well, funny...I actually plan on changin the layout soon. I have a little preview of it here:
    http://www.rol-comic.com/junk/layout/index.php

It is abit boring. It needs more color variation.

Well, it's not bad site at all. But I must admit that grayness - it's a bit too gray color there...

Put some more colors. The grey is cool when blended with the right hues. Okay, to make everything more lively, put more graphics. Good graphics. Give your background some cool effects.

Are you three looking at the current layout or the newer one? Because I tried to make it more interesting with this new one...

It's still all undecided at this point. The whiteness of the comic isn't boding too well with the tech layout. And I have yet to add my characters to the banner. There's going to be two pictures of characters on the top...(this is my "test" page, so it'll be constantly changing whenever I work on it...)

  3. I made this little layout a while back...but now I've been getting replies that it is "too boring" and dull thanks to the grey-ness of the site. Give me some opinions and suggestions please...

    ::EDIT::
here's a new version of the layout I'm working on:

  4. Hello everyone! I'm here to talk about my little hand-drawn comic. Let me display the links before continuing on with the breif synopsis, details, and such -- home: http://www.rol-comic.com/ archive: http://www.rol-comic.com/?info:comicarchive first strip: http://www.rol-comic.com/comic/comic.php?date=060102 latest strip: http://www.rol-comic.com/comic/ forum: http://www.rol-comic.com/forum/ ROL Comic is a black and white comic about two seemingly normal characters trying to unravel the shady mystery of their unknown past. Upon noticing special uncontrollable abilities submerging during difficult situations, they meet up with three other outcasts and begin an epic adventure. So it's generally a science fiction, humor, adventure mix. It's still relatively new, but it updates every Monday and Friday with an occasional Wednesday update Alright that's it. Critique/Visit my comic/site please :)

  5. alright, i ran a quick test with this little google gadget and here's what i got...First I put up many large applications so that i can see an obvious difference in the speeds of webpages. Than I took out my handy dandy stopwatch (don't trust that default timer google provides) and timed the pages. As far as I can tell, the difference in my firefox didn't change at all. Internet Explorer, however, improved DRASTICALLY. In fact, it's much faster than firefox now...loading images and everything. Firefox with and without the "web accelorator" took about 13 seconds to open the somewhat large site. (after cleaning up the cache, history, etc.) Internet Explorer finished the file in 6 seconds with the accelerator. Some in the end, i guess i conclude (at least for my computer), that this web accelerator is a beast with IE but isn't worth it if you plan on using firefox. At least for now...i'm sure with a few new upgrades, google's little application will become more efficient...hopefully...

  6. hmm, you know what people really need? A tutorial on making their own brushes instead of using other's works lol. I know, i know, they distribute it for public use, but wouldn't it be cooler if a person actually made the brushes themselves and created their signatures that way?Nevertheless I don't know whether or not you made those brushes or not, but the effect is nice either way. Good job on it...

  7. Alright html wizards...i've got a question ^_^ I assume that, like other programming codes, html and php compilers read a code from top to bottom. Say I have a object though...and I want it to load last...how do I do that? Let's just pretend I have an image that I do not want to load until everything else on the webpage is loaded...how can I set that up? Is there perhaps a javascript code for it...or maybe a CSS style I could add onto the object? Or better yet, is it possible to make everything within a div/span/table tag load last?Another thing...if I leave an iframe on the very bottom of my html code, will the iframe load after my main content is loaded, or would it load simultaneously with the original page (the page that has the iframe script on it)? Cause if that's true, it would solve the problem i had above...Heh, I need an answer to either the first question, or the second...cause either one would solve my problem of forcing an html object to load last =/ Thanks to anyone who can help me out here ^_^

  8. I have an xanga, haven't touched it too much recently...plus the people who used to chat with me on xanga jumped over to myspace or something so i haven't gotten any comments neither...lol

Anyways, I'm proud of my xanga design - http://chronicloser.xanga.com/ - except that it runs really really slowly whereas if i were to have the same code on my Xisto account it'd run twice as fast. Xanga has to find itself some faster servers. Anyways, I like'd xanga a lot when i actually had readers and such. Now...well it's pretty quiet now ^_^ i've just started to kinda make new entries recently but it's all been those "I'm really busy right now so I'll make another entry later" type of thing lol

  9. Sad how much money people spend for shoes. I have never had a pair that was over $20. The ones I buy look no different then the ones for $80. (Except mine fall apart faster and are not as comfortable)

Also, it says that the battery lasts about 100 hours. Does that mean the battery starts right when you put one the shoes, and ends after you take them off? If not, then the chip only lasts for about 6 days, meaning you have to change it about every week.

To top it off, you could buy a PS2 and 1 (maybe 2) games for it instead of these shoes. Let's see; great game system and games to play or shoes? I can understand if you make lots of money and don't know where to spend it but still...

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I know this is a bit off-topic, but a $250 shoe that will encourage you to actually go out and exercise (because you don't wanna waste the 250) will benefit you much more than a few video games you sit there on your *bottom* to play in the long run. I despise video games...whoever invented it probably would have second thoughts if he/she knew that it would cause all of the future generation kids to be lazy drones addicted to those "cool" flashy pictures on the television. Heh, alright, I'm gonna get lashed by someone being that this place is probably full of those "drones" lol. Anyways, I'm all for those shoes ^_^ keep in mind, new things tend to cost more. In time the price will eventually go down. So it's not like these shoes will stay at the 250 range forever =/

  10. Well with new technology, there will always be a risk. I mean, take cars for an instance. At first people were afraid of trains (a little odd, but a true known fact) because they, scientists and the general public, were afraid people wouldn't be able to withstand any speeds faster than 40 mph (another interesting little fact). After a little encouragement, people began to accept them and build off the idea, thus the construction of cars and other transportation means as you can see in the streets of modern day society. Nevertheless, the introduction of cars is also the introduction of car accidents.Anyways, any kind of new technology will come with risks. As for what will happen if someone hacks into the nanobots...i don't think that will be too much of a problem. First of all, nanobots are not controlled by an outside "button" or program/system. It has already been programmed during the manufacturing stage. I guess there's the chance where someone will distribute "bad" nanobots, but that's a risk people will have to take. And it is also rather difficult to change a nanobot after it is constructed, as far as I can understand it. If someone wants to cause destructive harm to someone's physical state, there are much cheaper and easier methods of doing such a thing...Personally, I'm interested i nanotechnology, though i still am a strong believer that biotechnology could take us further... =/

  11. Heh I don't think A.I. would have that great of an impact on humans. In fact, I believe it will have a negative impact, as kap mentioned...because it would downgrade ourselves.Alright first off, why do we need A.I.? Wouldn't a more stable, systematic type of program be more effective than one that will produce arguements as to why 'it' needs to do this, or why 'it' needs to do that? I don't mean that the system with A.I. capabilities will go against us, humans (that's just what happens in Holleywood Sci-Fi movies symbolizing our dependency on machines), but it would be take more energy and money to have a system that takes its time in thinking about how to solve a problem when you can have a system for probably a cheaper price that will automatically solve the problem with the simple 'logic' machines have today. Why would we need to take it to the extreme and allow a system to think for itself? It doesn't make any sense to me. If we are really looking into a very smart mind, we could spend research on altering genetics. If not for all the religious debate, I'm sure scientists would have been able to make everyone super smart/athletic by now. But truthfully, wouldn't making a machine with A.I. capablitlies a sign that humans are trying to recreate life? So in that sense a smarter computer that can learn is just as bad as genetic alterations/cloning. In my opinion, if we want a faster problem-solving object (machine or a lifeform) DNA tampering would be a better option. A.I. is just something humans would find "amusing" from science-fictions, etc.

  12. lol, no runners here? What I'd give to have shoes like that...mainly it's for long distance/marathon runners. And believe me...the shoes do make a difference. Last time I ran the marathon, my foot blistered up so bad I couldn't walk normally for a few weeks. lol, limping between classes isn't something you want to do when you're in high school. Unless you're looking for sympathy of course lol

And another thing, $250 isn't too bad for a high-end good running shoe. I've seen some running spikes that are at the $200-$300 mark without the chip. If it still costs about 200 with the chip...it's not all that bad =P The only equipment a runner has is his/her shoes. An official "game-ball" basketball costs over a hundred. Then you need a decent pair of shoes and somewhere to play. A runner only needs some shoes, then can go outside and just run ^_^

Personally, I wouldn't mind giving these shoes a test ride if I had the cash ^_^

  13. looks pretty cool. SOmetimes in order to get the content across, a simple and basic layout is necessary. Thus, I do believe this template is nice. As far as I can tell...a person looking into making furniture (?) will not be extremely pleased with a site that's too large or is too flashy lol. I think you made the right choice in keeping it conservative ^_^

  14. notepad user. Don't like Frontpage...it screws up my indents like crazy. Don't like dreamweaver...it takes forever to load up and work with. SO what do I choose? Notepad. Quick to load. Some people say you can't preview using notepad. Sure not directly but what you do is you open your web browser(s). Open your php/html file, and there you go. After each change you make to the php/html file, save and refresh your browser and there's your preview. It's even more accurate then Frontpage that way because somehow Frontpage screws with the file somehow...i don't know how.

Oh...i guess i'm not using notepad exactly...i have this small application that makes indenting and highlighting easier. But essentially, it's still a notepad...cept with more colors ^_^ still easy to open and work with. That's what I like about a simpler html editor ^_^

  15. lol yea...I'm a hundred percent certain that Java is also supported in a Mac being that my Java Computer Programming class at school had used a Mac in order to teach us all that junk. We used eclipse and blue jay as java editors...but I'm sure there are many others out there that will work just fine on a Mac  you're just gonna have to search around for it

  16. heh, i don't think it seems to be worth it. here's another link for the overview on what's new: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Generally, nothing really big is changing...again. Truthfully, in my opinion, the last few upgrades from Adobe weren't all that spectacular lol. It's been the same thing since version 6.0 ...simply small changes that "most" people can live without =P
