My experience with the long horn is not very good...

I installed it and it halted my 1.3 GHz.

not a good experience and i wonder if someone says that its good

    thnx

  2. Please do be aware that dialup is VERY slow. If you start to share the connection, speeds will dip to cringingly low levels. For example if you bandwidth throughput was at 2.4KB/s, technically if both computers are getting information you'll both have an average speed of 1.2KB/s.

I would really highly recommend you switch to broadband.

How do we setup dialup connection in Linux.

    PPP protocol and what else???

My linux gives error that no modem is attached

and in the control panel i can see succesful installation of the modem with its proper type!

    Tell me abt it!

    thnx

  3. I currently have a 100mb mysql database with my host, but I've got to thinking - is this really enough?

I have phpbb running, and most of my site is in the database - username, password, other personal info, and then I have a table with 100 columns to which users add stats for certain computer games and more.

The whole database is at 121kb at the moment, and this is without any members (but with the large table described above).

The thing is, if I want to upgrade to the highest package, all that is offered is 5x100mb databases, and I can't see how I could store the data I need in the different databases.

Will this cause trouble for me in the future if (and hopefully when) my website grows a lot larger? I mean is 100mb big or small for a mysql database?

Object Oriented Database Management Systems need to be worried about the size, not you! as you are using just an RDBMS system.

.. moreover, everything is text in your databases so there is no need to worry about the database space.

When u'll get to reach the 100MB users .. ofcourse u'll need to get worried about the BANDWIDTH. :-)

    adios

  4. Maybe Mysql is the most popular DBMS used in Web programming, but what about the others such as Oracle, DB2?

How to choose the better one in website planning?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    well..thats easy-

for larger databases .txt files have soo many problems including inconsistency of data, repitition of records wrt to the departments. Specially if we talk abt the case of larger databases, difficult to handle nonstandard approaches to get into DBases.

Now abt Databases and Relational Databases. Relational ofcourse uses Connectivity relationships. MYSQL and SQL and Oracle.

MySql is less secure than Oracle or SQL -

MySql is Opensource thats why it is used more, otherwise there is nothing such that its better than SQL or ORacle.

  5. I want to learn 3D design , but I don't know what software is good, 3Dmax or May,

I like movie Matrix, it have 3D picture.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It depends on choice of the Modeller

there may be Lightwave 3D which can be a better option

Lightwave3D is easier in all respects and ofcourse enough to get what you want.

I use lightwave3D [even when its hard to plug a character in VC++ modelled in Lightwave3D :) ]

    adios

  7. Actually there are lots threads in Xisto.com which may help u in using mysql. However, u may go to http://www.mysql.com/ to try the advanced matrial. With my experience, we use php to operate mysql, you may visit http://php.net/ to get the help.

Hope you will enjoy the learning of mysql, and php as well.

The best way to learn something new [if u are used to with a little programming]

things is to 'Learn by Examples'.

So use search engines to find out MYSQL/PHP examples.

you'll get to know all else.
