Area 51 What do you think it is?
chickenside replied to DigitalDingo's topic in Science and Technology
I think it's a place where the government stores things and documents that are secret. I also think it's a place where new technology is tested. I've seen satellite imagery and used google earth to look at the general area where area 51 is, it looks like desert, just plain desert.Upon closer inspection, the "desert" had features, like roads, and things that looked like hangars.I don't see what the big deal is about, just a secret place for secret stuff. -
I've decided to convert to an LCD monitor over the CRT, which I believe to be infinitely better.Anyway there are certain applications that, when I start up, the monitor goes black and a message says: Out of Timing H: 43 Hz V 27kHz.Or something like that. Any help? Drivers are up to date, and I think it's not influenced by resolution. I'd like to get this to work because it was rather large investment.Thanks.

Another Storm To Hit New Orleans?
chickenside replied to troyilicious82's topic in Science and Technology
Of course it should. That's too much to move, too many people to relocate, it would cost the US government more money to make that move than it would to repair the current damage. Besides, most of the flooding was caused by the canals at Lake Pontchartrain. The hurricane caused the water to push up against the canal, and once a minimal amount of water went over, it began to erode the earthen mound supporting the wall. Once the earthen mound eroded, the wall gave way, letting the water of Lake Pontchartrain into New Orleans. Engineering and a little bit of invesments could prevent any future flooding, or at least minimize it. As many people have already stated, this is only the beginning of storm season, I heard we can expect many more storms, two to four of which will be large scale storms. -
Simple. Instead of gun, you've got sword, bow and other fantastical and medieval implements at your disposal. What do you mean by "The downloads for their sneak peeks are huge"?
-
I think all FPS fans should check out this game called Project Offset. They are using their own engine that I think will rival the Unreal 3 engine. It's not out, yet, but there are two "sneak-peeks" for download with some interesting gameplay situations. It's only a three person team but I'd say it's coming along very well. They used to work for S2Games developing Savage. Well, enough of my rambling: https://software.intel.com/en-us/gamedev

Evolution Or God... How were we created?
chickenside replied to Nemisis's topic in Science and Technology
Disagree.I'm not going to turn this into a religious debate, but I'm a very science oriented person, seeking explanations even if the stakes are high. I, personally, find the theory of evolution and the "big bang" seem more plausible than an almighty, all powerful being. The evidence of the "big bang" is (as I've outlined and made quite evident in my other posts) the expansion of the galaxy. -
Do Aliens Really Exist? Hot Debate! do they really exist?
chickenside replied to tcave's topic in Science and Technology
I'm not denying that aliens exist, I'm denying that these things have been seen. The technology needed to reach another galaxy is unimaginable nowadays. The speed needed to race the expansion and movement of the universe and it's galaxy is outstanding. I doubt that billion year old humanoid races have the technology to reach us. The people sighting it are mostly under hypnosis or just nutcases. Like I had mentioned earlier, most of these sightings occur at night, when the body is in a state of paralysis, but the mind is still awake. Back to the technology required to race the universe, I seem to recall a NASA spacecraft that was able to go Mach 10. Even then that's only a little over 3.4 kilometres, not much when you're talking about oribiting, revolutions, and expansion.I believe that "aliens" exist, the thought we're alone in this incredibly vast, getting vaster every second universe is absolutely absurd. If we can form on this pea-sized rock called Earth, why can't other life form on other planets? -
Artificial Meat Will we someday buy a meat maker?
chickenside replied to Jeigh1405241495's topic in Science and Technology
Personally, I think introducing this is a necessary step for the advancement of science. All we have is theories, we can't be sure until something is tested.I would probably eat this meat, I mean all it is is cultured meat. I think this has many advantages, and we have much to gain with this technology. -
Do Aliens Really Exist? Hot Debate! do they really exist?
chickenside replied to tcave's topic in Science and Technology
I maintain that in the vastness or this universe, there must be life in another galaxy, here's something from a post I made earlier. We definitely aren't "advanced", assuming we could travel the speed of light, it would take over 10, 000 years to reach the next galaxy, let alone planet with life. Theoretically, suspended animation would be sufficient enough to keep someone alive that distance, however, there isn't enough fuel to travel that distance.Even if we could, there's no guarantee we'll find life in our neighbourhood galaxy, Andromeda (I think), so this means we must travel farther.Assuming we had the technology to do this practically, we must race the universe, which is expanding everyday, here's some numbers: the Earth's revolving at nine hundred miles an hour, orbiting at nineteen miles a second, the everything we can see is moving at a million miles a day. Our galaxy, the "Milky Way", is a spiral shaped galaxy, our solar system is located on an outer spiral arm. It's a hundred thousand light years side to side, in the middle it's sixteen thousand light years thick, where we are it's just three thousand light years thick. We're thirty thousand light years from the center of our galaxy, and go around every two hundred million years, at a speed of forty thousand miles an hour.Which brings up another point, if there is other life, are they advanced enough to reach us? Of course, this calls into question all these UFO sightings, and alien abduction experiences. The alien abductions can be explained quite simply, most of these occurences happen at night, when the abductee is asleep. There is a state of almost paralysis, when your brain is awake generating images and dreaming, but your body is paralyzed. My verdict: Other life exists, but all experiences so far are coincedence and natural phenomenon. -
Project Offset is an amazing game. It is a work in progress, but developing quite nicely. They have two "Sneak Peek" videos that I think any RPG fan will enjoy. They developed their own engine called the "Offset Engine" that I think will the Unreal 3 engine, definitely worth checking out- https://software.intel.com/en-us/gamedev

Evolution Or God... How were we created?
chickenside replied to Nemisis's topic in Science and Technology
He said he believes in evolution in the animal kingdom, but not the evolution in humans. There were neanderthals, which are close to apes and humans, indicating they may be the missing link. It's perfectly plausible that all the neanderthals were eradicated come the Ice Age.Plently of variants of apes exist, maybe they are the missing links? To gorillas that walk on their knuckles, to monkeys with prehensile tails and opposable thumbs. -
20 Years From Now... Where do you see humanity?
chickenside replied to Kyle Perkins's topic in Science and Technology
I disagree with this, we haven't got the technology to do so. Assuming we could travel the speed of light, it would take over 10, 000 years to reach the next galaxy, let alone planet with life. We're thirty thousand light years from the center of our galaxy, and go around every two hundred million years, at a speed of forty thousand miles an hour.A race we are definitely not going to win... -

Twenty years ago, you'd have laughed at me if I had said: "In twenty years, we will be drinking bottled water." I think that in twenty years from now, we will be breathing bottled air.I think we are polluting this planet immensely, I'm not an environmentalist, I'm just saying at this rate, we are headed for catastrophic environmental happenings. Forget global warming, it is now cooking. -
I had to travel quite a bit in the past year, family related things kept coming up. School wasn't helping either. All this distracted me from my true passion of managing my own website.

I found this great site that lets you upload files from your computer and scans it for malware. The file is subject to 14 antivirus programs and has so far alerted me to trojans, worms, backdoors, keyloggers, and adware. I think it's a great site that you should use, shoudl you be unsure of a file you just donwloaded. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
