Myspace.com who has it, likes, dislikes, etc.
reatum replied to mzwebfreak's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Yeah, my myspace is hooked up as far as myspace accounts go, and I actually have about 5 or 6 audio files on there with the flash mp3 player that I found somewhere. And an embeded eot font. But it is still very limited. Mostly because of there excessive use of tables and such. I have also heard that if you wanted to you could hide everything behind a flash player and have a flash myspace, but the loadtime sucks bad enough on there site. And for those of you who don't know what myspace is, it is kind of an online profile/blog site, where you can browse other users, see pictures of "them", read a personal blog, read profiles, and establish "friends", etc, etc. There are a lot of things you can do. But it is at its very best, in my opinion, a great place to find cool music. -

I have a myspace, and I was wondering who else has one, and what do you think of their service.I got my myspace because they were giving away 10 NIN tickets, and I am a huge NIN fan. Anyway, once I got it, I started editing the page, and now it is all customed out (by myspace standards that is). At first I thought it was a really neat concept, but as time went on I started to notice a few things that aggrevate me.One thing is that they claim you can use dHTML, but they don't allow JS.Another is that the server seems to go down a lot. You get a lot of unexpected errors, and sometimes, can't even log in for hours. Other than that I do think that the networking capabilities for muscians is great. I have heard some great bands that would be only local if they didn't set up a myspace. That is really cool, because most of them aren't signed to a major record label, but they have an international reach.Lastly, I am not a huge fan of Rupert Murdoch, and myspace is owned by his company. That is my largest complaint, but still not enough for me to leave.Ok, your turn.reatum -
I'm not sure what you mean by an asset to the yahoo company. Could you elaborate on this a little.
-
I had yahoo since the beginning of time, or at least it seems like it. Along time ago, I set up My Yahoo, but rarely used it. I like the customization and built in features. I recently started using the briefcase, and I think I like it. I just want to know what others think of this attachment to my yahoo. I think it very useful myself, as I tend to be on a bunch of different computers all of the time. I can never remember to carry my flash drive with me, and they give you like 30MB which is more than enough for a simple briefcase. I have never used a service like this before. What does everyone else think.

I don't think that RS intentionally filters cpanel. I don't think it is a filter @ all actually. I dunno what it is. We use websense to filter, and I don't get the websense page when I try to access cpanel. I just got it when I tryied to use the proxy you gave me because it detects that as proxy-avoidance.I don't really think that what I am trying to do is illegal. I can visit Xisto (i'm at work right now). It is only cpanel that I can't access. I did try the IP and that didn't work either.

I work @ ratshack. While I'm here, I want to be able to work on my site, but I can't access cpanel. I think it has to be our proxy. Does anyone have any advice on how to get around this. I can't exactly ask the support team for RS as I'm not technically supposed to be doing anything non work related on there computers, but I get so bored here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.ReAtum

geocities is ok for beginners, but if you want to run any javascript or do anything other that plain html, you have to go elsewhere. The ads are really annoying and take forever to load.

Has anyone ever heard of Clusty. That is actually my choice search engine. It's quick, clean, and everything good that google is. Plus they have a leftbar that organises all of the search results in categories and subcategories if you want to filter out stuff that isn't related to your search. The other major plus is that they don't track searches like google does. I get nervous with google, because they have a unique id for each computer that visits and your search history is linked to that unique id. Clusty pulls up great results without that.

I am trying to write a function that will allow me to manipulate all of the elements on a page with the same class. Something like getElementByClass. If anyone has any ideas, please send them this way. Thanks in advance. ReAtum This is what I have, but it is giving me a headache. When I define a classname, and have one element with that classname on the page, it alerts me that it sees 8 elements with that classname. I am @ a loss. var elArr = new Array();function getElementByClassName(classname) {var allEl = document.all;for (var i=0; i < allEl.length; i++) {if (allEl[i].className == classname) {elArr[i] = allEl[i];}}alert (elArr.length);}if anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it. and before anyone bugs on me, it is only for IE, so that is why I only have doc.all. Problems Activating Hosting Account username and password invalid

I'm just glad it wasn't me being a moron. Thanks for all of your help -
I love it. The simplicity of it all is my favorite part. The color scheme seems to be fine to me, and I have to say that the JS is hilarious. I actually like when people create a nice site without the use of excessive images. All around, very tasteful.

This is soooooooo frustrating.. I don't know what I'm doing wrong no special characters anywhere on the page except for my forum details now, and I am still getting errors, maybe OpaQue didn't get the chance to adjust the subdomain. I don't know.. this is driving me nuts. I'm still getting INVALID USERNAME AND PASSWORD, but all of my information is good. WHY ME??!! -
The US has the PATRIOT ACT. Probably the most vile attack on civil liberties known to man.

Right on. I still use notepad for pretty much everything. I like that it doesn't do anything unless I tell it to. I hate frontpage. I think I built one page with it one time and Later when I wanted to edit it, I ended up starting over completely because I couldn't read the sloppy script it generated. That was years ago, but since then I have only used notepad. And Flash. but I'm not very good at animations so I that was kindof short lived

Music and Philosophy are the 2 things in the world that define me more than anything next to maybe computers. If anyone could, I would like a sig with a theme that possibly blends them together... Also, I feel that I should mention that my fav colors are maroon (almost a scabby red) and Dark Purple. Not a lavender or anything, but a dark dark purple. I like Geiger too. I would appreciate it if someone with artistic talents (unlike myself) could slap something together. Thanks in advanceRe_Atum

Yeah, I tried to do that. a portion of my email address (-@yahoo.com of course) which contains no special characters, I tried reatum, i tried simply atum, i tried a whole bunch of different usernames that I just can't seem to get to work. ::Confused:: Re_Atum -
I have used a lot of those progs and have found that Spy Sweeper is the most thorough. I have run it after running S&D and still found a whole host of traces of spyware. Plus the free trial is good enough, and if you ever need an update, then you just remove and reinstall, but the trial doesn't expire, @Least it didn't the last time I downloaded it.

The gov'ts of the 1st world are more concerned with control than they are privacy. The above article is one of thousands which tell a tale of stripped down privacy rights, and the problems we as citizens of the countries bringing the NWO to fruition have to face. The horror of it all is that many people across the globe either no nothing of it, or don't think twice when they hear what is happening.

Here's what's going on.. I click the link: Create a Hosting Account. It brings me to the screen that asks for the information. I originally filled it out with Re_Atum, and it rejected it saying that domain names cannot contain any special characters except (-) so I changed the (_) to a (-) which it then generates the following: . I am going to PM OpaQue as recommended by BuffaloHELP. Hopefully I can get this straightened out soon. I am so sick of geocities. -
I just got the email to start my Xisto site. I clicked on the link to https://support.xisto.com/ and filled out all of the appropriate information. My username was 8 characters, no special characters. My subdomain was re-atum, as edited from my forum handle since they don't allow the underscore. I don't know what is going on, and hopefully someone can help. Thanks in advance.

I play bass, although I haven't actually played in like a month or so. Too busy. I listen to everything, and I hope to learn all sorts of styles. Right now I am trying to focus on the funk slap/pop style.

Actually the Diesel engine was originally designed to run on a variety of different fuels, mainly plant based. There are also conversions for gasoline cars to run on ethanol and also propane, which is still petroleum, but much more effecient than gas. The hydrogen cars are a step in the right direction, but I think that if they became widely used, we would definitely have to make sure that people are much more responsible on the roads, because it would definitely be more dangerous. I honestly don't think that we should necessarily be focused primarily on economic cost when persuing alternative fuel sources. We have completely demolished the ecosystem by both searching for petroleum, and using it so carelessly. Using hydrogen may cost a few more dollars at a pump, but the long term benefits for everyone are much greater. Not to mention, that gasoline is working its way up in cost at a very steady rate. The first computer I ever owned was a 386. It had DOS like 2 something I think. My parents upgraded to a 486 and were going to throw it away. It had QBasic and that was the first time I ever did anything with code. It came with Gorilla's and Nibbles (now a popular nokia game called snake). It also had a GUI called PB that I think stood for Push Button. I think that was like one of the first GUI's pre-windows. It could only fit like 8 icons on the screen and you had to type out the command and choose the icon's and order and everything. I thought that thing was awesome, and I thought I was slick because I could change the autoexec.bat file and prompt and even write a few lines of code in QBasic. I think that was what got me hooked.

I'm sure that regardless of what we say, the elite will do what they want. I don't know how many people are aware, but google tracks every search you make with a personalized cookie just for your computer, this is very similar in that it is specific to your computer, and if you install things like the google toolbar, or google desktop, or anything, they have even more reach into your personal info. I for one don't think anybody, gov't or corporate should be snooping and logging my www whereabouts.
