  1. Well like I mentioned in my previous post that if the above scenarios didn't work out it was a hardware issue, it is possible that there is something wrong with the motherboard but for being a year old I don't think it could be that. Another theory does come to mind is that the power supply within the laptop could be messed up and might get replaced. But like my hardware book says start with the obvious stuff and when the obvious doesn't work, bump it up the problems it could be (thats loosely translated).
  2. well there is something you can do, by uploading a robot text to your site you can prevent all search engines from indexing your site, mind you your site would have to wait until the search engine go through your site again. http://www.mcanerin.com/EN/search-engine/robots-txt.asp That link will help you set up that robot text file automatically, to save you the time of typing everything out.
  3. I think a seen a few topic about it, but I paid no mind to it see I use only IE and firefox, but it seems to be an outdated browser and not worth using in terms of developing sites for.
  4. Or an alternate solution would be to download open office, which mimics word to near perfection; ope office has the same programs as word does but it is free and also you can open them up on a computer that has word on it. Which means you can go back and forth without any problems whatsoever.
  5. I would say order a new battery and adapter plug them in and see if it works, if it does then do the following:Switch the new battery for the old and then keep the new adapter in, if it works there is a problem with the AC adapternow Switch to the new battery but the old ac adapter, if that works its a battery problem,Now if none of them work then there is a problem with your hardware and it would need to be check to make sure nothing got disconnected, or loose which could be the case when it got repaired the first time and they need to be fixed.Hopefully its one of the two senario's that I mention early and you should be set.

    Hello

Welcome to the forums and enjoy your stay don't forget to read the Xisto Readme as it is loaded with tons of information on to be a great members and achieve your hosting with no problems. We can always use a few more php scripter's, some day I hope to figure it all out and actually build my own . So here is your welcome gift basket of assorted fruits and vegtables and so once again welcome to Xisto and enjoy your stay.
  7. Funny enough after using my password for 12 years I finally changed it and what is scary it was very common word and I never had any problems with it. However, I would like to comment on two of those numbers 12 and 14; with number 13 that is easier said then done because sometimes you can't even tell especially computer users that user it for a checking email and talking to friends. You would have to have great in depth knowledge of a computer in order to spot anything suspicious; which is still true to this day as hackers and crackers and phreakers and phrackers are getting smarter as they hone their skills in the computer under ground.#14 is argumentative or at least the first part is but the reason is simple when a new browser comes out in beta form and not a stable release, of course not all programs are 100% bug proof so the latest and greatest is not the best choice as many of have learn with internet software.
  8. Actually yes I did . so thats what the little processes is, because I am a poll script thats an admin page and stupid me always forgot it, so I went to myphpadmin page to look it up there and all I got was that text string. Interestingly enough routers use the same kind of script if you call it that with keys to help improve on the router security. If I remember correctly brute forcing is seldom used anymore, because people wised up about computer hacking and junk, nonetheless though people still use simple passwords and junk and thus make it easy.
  9. Let see the Desktop is a Pentium 4, my laptop is a centrino duo and the computer I will be building will be a Intel Coe Duo 2, so yeah I am using some good stuff here .
  10. Well to make the argument even worse, I been on and off designing templates and slowly converting them to divs, you wouldn't believe the process it takes to make a tabless design when converting those tables. But I would have to tend to agree depending on what kind of site your making you could go either way. As my web design teacher put tables are used for organizing databases, especially using dating from MySQL. But if you making a portfolio site then yeah throw tables out the window. However, most internet software still uses tables i.e (forums, news scripts), so like I mention tables are not going to go away and you be surprised how many sites stick to standards that use tables. So it's a matter of opinion of where a person should go, but the best advice I can give learn both ways and you don't have to rely on one set of rules.
  11. When designing a template in adobe photoshop and then code them fro dreamweaver you need to do two things, First slice the template to accommodate where you want your content and navigation to go and how template will download on the browser. Second thing you need to do, well you could go either way on this depending if you want your site to be search engine friendly; you can either use iframes for your content, or create some 1px in height images and css code them so that they expand. Which is the better way to go, although a bit more challanging since you would create these images for specific parts of the site in order for the repeat image to work properly. Now with that being said, the problem your having is that your breaking the layout because all your images and tables are fixed and so if you go beyond those width's and heights, your going to break the templates and it will look wacky. So like I mentioned in my above paragraph you can go one of three ways with the CSS version a bit more tricker to control, depending on how detailed your template it but worth it since instead of manually adding background images CSS will do it for you. Basically what I said above he is breaking the layout by going beyond the fixed width's and heights, thus making the template look like a jigsaw puzzle. It's not the matter of reove the size's it's about the content he puts in that template is going beyond those images/tables limits. Yes you can save it as a html, but you need to slice the template first and then save it as a html. However, I know longer have CS2 and what CS3 has it set up as save for web devices....did a little search in your file menu it should be Save for Web. I wouldn't recommend using Imageready as it's purpose is for animation and you have more control in photoshop when slicing and optimizing for saving it for the web. You want to keep your images at a minimum, you want to have between 20-30, but if you can make it less and you will have quick download times. So in order to do this you slice your content and navigations first; with those sliced you will have an idea what the rest of the slices will look like because then you have to figure out which ones you can make into large images (which is done to have less images to download) and to see which ones need to be small. So if you have 50-60 images in your template then that means you have improperly cut them and thus the longer download it takes for the site to load. Sad thing is that not many tutorials cover this aspect since most just tell you have to slice a template that you will build, but if you can remember what I suggested, you will have a better time slicing templates and even a better time slicing templates with a lot of detail in them.
  12. I am so sorry for your lost booze, man I only could imagine how slow time must have been when your father on the floor. You are correct that it is a rare heart condition for someone to have these days, thoughts and prayers to you and your family booz.
  13. You can hold contests for credits, but what your asking is a third party would have to hold the credits because the way you got it set up is that you will be making a 20 credit profit on your break down that you got listed. So you would have to go 70 20 10 in order not to profit from it. Interesting idea but no one will participate because of the following reasons, their is a 3% transfer rate on all credits, meaning they will be spending more to get them and then when it comes time to divvy out those credits you have spend just as much. Also there is a credit transfer cap that prevent you from transferring all your credits if you are hosted, so not to disrupted services in your hosting. It's a good idea just not well thought out, just remember though that if you do participate Xisto staff is not responsible for any disputes about credit transfers that make take place.
  14. Well if you remember correctly about the fiasco with Cpanel X? IF you don't basically every problem you could think of to happen to a hosting a account did and so we back to cpanel 9. Of course I wouldn't doubt there is plans in the future to upgrade the cpanel, of course from looking at the site Cpanel 11 won't be fully out till about the end of the year. So that brings the question why upload Cpanel 11 during stages when you can get the complete and more stable package?
  15. Well that would depend on your way of thinking, if you think like most of the members here; free hosting is just a stepping stone to paid hosting, although you don't need a big 20 gig plan due to the fact that most free and paid hosting plans don't other as much as Xisto does. But once your get a plan here, you can drop a couple of dollars for a domain and your set until your hosting starts running out of space and bandwidth only lasts a day.You can park your domain on to your free hosting account and your set and like I mention before most free hosting sites don't other as much as Xisto does. Of course Xisto and Xisto are the only sites that use a automated credit system that lets you know how long your hosting account stay active. Yeah you have to post but instead of the quantity of posts you have to makes its the quality of the posts that you have to work on; meaning that the longer your posts the more credits you can get and the longer your hosting lasts. This place has great members, great staff and most of all great hosting.
  16. Nope I did some google searching and Microsoft word searching and there is no cap, so the only to do it is type it out until the last line and there you go.
  17. I figured as much that you still had the old browser, you have to remember ajax is somewhat brand new (about 2 years) and so any browsers before 2005 will have a hard time supporting it. Although Firefox 2 (can't remember which version) had a very hard time running the ajax shout box so I had to switch to IE 7 for awhile until I believe Firefox 2.0.3 came out then I switched back again. So for all Safari users download Safari 3 beta to fix your shoutbox problems
  18. Another Myspace clone, well what can I say after Myspace success almost every new site is either a knockoff or better then myspace website, either way I think social networks are a bad place for inexperienced teenage internet users; of course look at all the heat myspace has been getting last couple of years, of course what can you do when someone is making millions off the advertisements alone and junk. But like all things social sites are a fad and it will eventually die down or shutdown after enough complaints.
  19. Nothing is by mistake you heard the call of free web hosting and you found us ***Plays the Twilight Zone Music*** , anways welcome to the site and I notice you have done some posting already, so hopefully you already read the Xisto read me. So welcome to the site and enjoy your time here on Xisto and enjoy the hosting when you are accepted.
  20. Well it's seems the War of the Botnet hackers is beginning to be won by the FBI, of course if you remember my topic last month about Soloway finally getting tagged; well he of course is listed in he article as one of the big dogs that got busted. They listed a guy who even tapped into a hospital computer system to do is his evil deeds. I would say if the authorities can catch the top ten spammers in the world, we could see a big shift in technology and how hackers, crackers, phreakers, and phrackers operate in the computer underground. But like I mentioned in the Soloway topic just because you catch the big fish doesn't mean there is someone else already waiting to step up and take over, but as the jail sentences get bigger and badder when found guilt it might convince some people to go straight. Nonetheless, with over 6.3 Billion people on this planet I would put computer underground into the millions ranging from 5 year old to 80 years old; which makes me wonder if those who have claimed they gone straight still working out in that computer underground though. 21. some good stuff there garbage especially for hand drawing them, it should be interesting what they will look like when you add a little technology to them. I would recommend using Adobe Illustrator instead of photoshop to go into the final stage of design for these great designs. Goku with a robot arm that is interesting concept as I have never seen that before .
  22. Hmmm it has been a long time but I am not aware of the reason as to why the red flags would come up on a hosting application like that. It could either be a scripting problem (which I doubt), a connection problem (maybe) or you could have missed something in your hosting application (also a maybe). Admin should be able to give you a clearer answer.
  23. Again, Fantastico is Down until further notice as mentioned in previous posts the best course of action is to download the software yourself, since the software is more up-to-date then that on fantastico. Also it gives people new to the hwole game of designing to be able to install and run the program to be more efficient and of course be able to help other people who might have had similar problems when installing that same software.
  24. You must have been living under a rock if you had to ask that question http://forums.xisto.com/topic/48686-trap17com-3-year-anniversary-party-5050-credits-on-the-loose/, as you can see we have been going for a solid 3 years now with many people moving on to Xisto parent company Xisto - Web Hosting for paid service. So once you get a complete understanding on how the forums and hosting works you will be here a long time. A handful of our active members are still from the year this hosting went online.
  25. Have your brought this to the admin's attention? I would think though it would be obvious to drop the second .com when copying and pasting the ftp address into the FTP software, what I recommend is that email support[at]xisto[dot]com and let them know about the typo you have found.
