I need to write somthing like that a while ago but since then my computer got formatted so I dont have any example soorce but they way I lerned that kind of stuff was going on to pscode.com and searching under Visual Basic for "E-mail Checker" There is a lot of example there, some dont work and others do. I would recommend pscode.com for writting any kind of applications.
