  1. After doing crazy amounts of research, you're going to be going between Ebay, and Newegg. I would generally weigh each part between the two of them, giving newegg the benefit of a very nice return policy, and easy RMA.Ebay will give you lower prices many times, but also weigh out the cost of shipping (many of my parts were free shipping from both though). You could also get a barbones premade from either of those, although I wouldn't recommend it, due to quality assembly. I've never tested either. And most probably don't use "arctic silver" the thermal compound that is oh so great at keeping your cpu nice and cool, etc. Just shop around, betweenthose, and you'll have your parts in no time. Use tomshardware forums, and these forums to get some overall information on which parts are better for you, etc.

  2. I agree. This place is dead, or almost dead. I really liked the hosting too, it seemed fast, and nice, and being able to post-to-host. But I can't deal with the ownership problems anymore. Way too many of them, and they don't seem to know how to set up the apache server correctly. Not to mention there's only one guy answering tickets, which can take a week. He was very nice, but no one wants to waste this much of their lifejust on server crap. I've never, ever had ownership problems with any other host, including many free hosts. First time I've run into it, and can't solve the riddle. It's just Joomla for crying out loud! lol. Yea, I tried this out for a week, but it was a pretty large waste of my time. Onto something bigger and better!

  3. I'd say that you should probably go ahead and spill the beans. If she rejects your advance, then it's better you find that out now, so you can just be friends, and not always expect something tocome out of it. If she's interested, then yes, you will advance to relationship status. I wouldn't put something like thatoff because, she might end up with someone else, and you just blew your chance. It's better to get everything over and done with, and get the truth out in advance. It sucks putting yourself out therelike that, but if you don't nothing will ever get done. Girls like guys who take charge.

  4. Until today I had no reason to use The Vent but today's different. It's cool to have a place like this to purge out all feelings in as many words as possible

I'm not here today just because I'm angry at someone/something. I'm not even irritated. Well, maybe a little. I was daydreaming some time ago and began to think about the world and everything else. Three millenniums ago I don't know how many people existed on earth, but I can confidently say that their lives were far better than ours. Yes they fought wars and all but on the whole they were peaceful. And that was because they didn't live for money, as we do today.

If I'm not wrong, the barter system was the first method which is similar to the currency system we use today. If someone wanted something, they had to exchange it with something they already had. That was the barter system.Of course due to the many loopholes, it died soon. Then slowly, coins and then paper money were introduced and the greed for money began to torment people.

I'm no economist to know what will happen if all the money were to disappear from the world and people began to live without using money, but I think it is due to money that happiness is disappearing from everyone's lives. The rich people are unhappy because they're always greedy for more money and are worried about their security. The poor are unhappy because they barely get enough money to eat three meals a day. And the middle-class are unhappy because although they have the capacity to spend their money, they're afraid they might not have enough money later.

It's due to the single thing called money that there is so much unhappiness in the world. Seriously, can't we live without it?! It's driving everyone crazy. Just because someone has more stacks of paper that he calls money, he thinks he is greater than those who don't have those many papers! For getting the basic necessities of life this paper comes in the way. Can't we just throw away these papers? :P

Some people may say that money is the goal towards which everyone works for in life. It is such a bizarre goal! Why not have something more sensible? Why become machines who always look for more and more money, forgetting to enjoy life?

Well I've asked a lot of questions but sadly I don't know answers to most of them. As I said before, I really can't imagine what would happen if the currency system were to suddenly be removed from the world. There would be utter chaos, I guess. So maybe we need some kind of miracle where all the money should go, but also people should realise that they can live without money, by helping each other get what they want.

Oh well, that's just my thought. I know there are many loopholes in this as well, but I'll be waiting for your opinions.

If we didn't use money, we would always use another form of currency. Before money, people used items to barter. Salt, sugar, Jewelry, metal, food. There was always something.

I would say that it would be much harder to survive like that, because it turns everyone into a haggler.

The biggest thing to worry about, money wise, is just make sure you have enough for you. Don't worry about the rest of the world, that will only drag you down. Be happy with what

you have, and the fact that we actually have it better than many people word wide. If the currency system was removed, then the same companies that have all the money today, will still

have it. They have products that people want, and people will offer them anything for it.

  5. I have many questionsWhat is better-
    Chocolate icecream or vanilla icecream?
    Blue or red?
    Coke or pepsi?
Milk chocolate or white chocolate or dark chocolate?
    Miranda Cosgrove or Selena Gomez?

    Please answer!

Chocolate ice cream is best (unless you feel like less flavor)
    Blue is better.
Diet Pepsi is my choice (so pepsi)
Milk chocolate, unless I want less sugar, then dark chocolate it is!
    Selena Gomez!

  6. Sad story-

Microsoft is reported to announce a deal to buy Skype as it battles to stay relevant online world dominated by Google and Apple.

According to Technology website All Things Digital, an unnamed sources saying Microsoft would reveal the acquisition early Tuesday.

The deal was estimated to have a price tag of dollar 8.5 billion, that would be Microsoft's most expensive acquisition to date.

I won't be suprised if Skype will be no longer freely available if MS checks in. If Bill feels generate, it might be still free, but surely user's privacy gone.

I think Microsoft is finally getting their-selves in gear, and you can see that with windows 7. I, personally never used skype, because there's already several
other systems that do the same exact thing. It would be nice to finally have something built into windows for all this, now normal, technology. They're probably
not going to just leave skype how it is, but instead upgrade the system, and integrate it into windows from now on. I really don't think they will infringe too much
on privacy.. as they generally ask your permission (they have to by law) before doing anything like that. You can simply opt out, if you want. What they do send, without
your permission, is what parts are inside your computer. They need this though, so they can put their operating systems together faster, and better, and have less problems.

Overall, I'd have to say this is a step forward for Microsoft, and skype is not going to die, or be a paid service. I honestly doubt that they will ask for money period, since they can simply
put a small ad on the program, that will pay for it ten-fold.

  7. Alt tags for images are very important for SEO. They help the spiders and bots understand what image it is, since they cannot directly see it. You can also use this alt to help your overall keyword density, by using rich keywords. For text, the reason why some people use words, and have a link in them, instead of just having a link written out, is also because of SEO. Spiders, and bots favor this, because if the words are linked to another page with the same wording and overall subject, then that will increase your chances of being moved higher up the search engine ladder. Anchor text is very good for SEO.

  8. That "banner" is simply their favicon.ico, and they're using a thawte security to verify their ownership, and it's basically saying "these guys are really google". To get that, all you have to do is order it with your server provider. For instance, with Xisto / Xisto - Web Hosting, they offer it when you're ordering your package. I think it's around $10 setup, and $40 a year.

  9. Between servers, coding and the likes, you will end up running for the hills, due to the complexity. Coding itself requires a substantial amount of time.

The biggest, and best advice I can give you, is to start out with a CMS (content management system) and play around with that first. They're pretty easy to install,

and play around with, but can take a bit to master. Once you get that down, then you can start messing with files, and how to change colors on specific parts, etc. This

will give you some basic understanding and knowledge on how all this works, instead of simply throwing yourself into the fray.

Millions and millions are donated toward cms's and they are designed, and programmed by many, many programmers and designers. Even if you taught yourself

all the odds and ends, it would still take around 10 years to make something like this yourself. Most cms are free of charge, and even a majority of their

extensions (forums, yahoo ask, etc) are free of charge. I would say, that you should start out a bit smaller, with Wordpress. From there, you can go to either

Joomla (my favorite), or try out Drupal, or some other CMS. Wordpress is the easiest of them all, I believe.

    Wordpress.org

    Joomla.org

    Drupal.org

There are many other options on the market, but these three have the most funding (several millions per year), have the most programmers, and some of the best

extensions, and designs on the market. They're also 100% free.

Download the package, unzip the package, and use an FTP program to move it over to your server (I use filezilla).

Then you need to create a database in cpanel, and use the information it gives you after creating one, in the web setup. Yes

you set these up by simply going to your website. It's rather easy, and quite fun to play around with these systems.

But, I'm telling you now, that if you just dive right into coding, and styling, then you will want to scream and run away from

this because it's far too much to grasp. CSS alone is a ton to grasp, not to mention when you start throwing in mos (transparency), and

other effects that are higher css grades.

  10. If you like mmo's with some action, try out Vindictus. It's a decent mmo with pretty nice graphics. You'll need a decent graphics card to run it. Then there is Divine souls. It's graphics aren't quite as intense, and it has some nice arcade style fighting in a 3d mmo world. Pretty decent graphics in both games. I've tried a few others, and either they flat out suck, or they're simply not worth the time. I haven't tried all of them, so consider some others, from other posters here, and just download, and try them out. Uninstall the game, if you don't like it, and move on. There is also runescape, but like I said, it's just not up to par for me. I'm really waiting on Diablo III from Blizzard entertainment. They always produce the highest quality games, and pc games at that. Diablo III is a RPG hack N' slash game. Massive slaughter-fest, highly powerful characters, no healer, no tanks. It's the bee's knees.

  11. When the one-year is almost finished, Xisto - Support sends you a mail asking if you want to renew, I found this very comfortable. Then you go to your Xisto account and you click "renew".

Yea, I'm really digging this mycent service. This thing could get bigger than what Opaque realizes. He could add Job boards, "answers" system, as well as a facebook-like social network, and make a killing off ads, that would support so much more. All in due time I suppose. Their team has been extra sweet, and I find the prices really reasonable! I really hope this company survives and flourishes, because post to host is honestly a fabulous idea. You could always use a free host somewhere else, but I have to tell you, they have all been absolutely awful. So far my server here (for 2 bucks a month) is running smooth.

  12. If you're looking for something more than what wordpress has to offer, I would recommend going with Joomla. It secure, sturdy, has an absurd amount of plugins, and - can do pretty much whatever you want it to. A large portion of the extensions are completely free. If you're more interested in playing with your website, and actually putting content in, while having some advanced features that wordpress doesn't have , then go for Joomla. I'd say the top 3 are Joomla, Wordpress, and Drupal. Drupal requires a bit more... hands on than Joomla does. Wordpress doesn't do enough, when you're seeking advanced functionality, but Joomla is perfect. It looks good, runs good, is secured good, free, lots and lots of money (millions per year) behind the project, and tons of developers. It has depth, and design, and great functionality. LikeI said earlier, you can do basically everything with it. I haven't run into one limitation that I couldn't overcome easily. Joomlamay sound like a fruity word, but it's anything but fruit! But you might want to try Drupal too, I just feel it's an advanced version of phpxxx software, and is too much work for littlereward. I might be wrong though, but considering I'm happy with Joomla, I'll stay with this. They have funding for the next decade I'm sure.Edit: sorry I didn't look before posting, and posted again several days apart though =)

  13. for a basic website all it requires is a bit of time and patience... but then to some they just don't have the time for it...
it's like any other trade, it's easy but it's the initiation part that needs patience! i use to think creating a website and putting it online was a really tough and complicated job to do... now to put up a site only takes a few or so clicks

Making a good, well thought out, optimized, eye candy website is still a pretty complicated, and tough job.
To be quite honest most should be using content management systems, as the stakes are far higher these days.
You can't really get by with a garbage website, that's not secure, optimized, and pleasant to the eye. This is a must these
    days.

The bar has been raised - I wouldn't even bother trying to actually code anything myself, other than a one-page
site. Much easier using the millions of man hours, and millions+ of funding that went into building systems such as Wordpress,
and Joomla, that are free for us to have, and use. I've yet to mess with Drupal, partly because Joomla is so fabulous
(and I want to master all of it), and also because I've heard Drupal can be a nightmare, and requires at least "some" coding.

People should never trust installers, as they are prone to breaking, and are not guaranteed by the hosting company. It's much
better, and easier down the road, if you simply get use to manually doing it. If you really want to build your own website, then
throw away the coding, and go with a CMS (content management system). Learn it, live it, love it. They're here to stay, and
will only get better and better. Considering it would take me: more college, about 10 years of coding, and millions of dollars to
make something like Joomla, I'd rather stick to working a CMS, the trying to build a makeshift version. That's just me rambling now
    though!

  14. Most get turned off to hosting, because they think hosting = make my website for me. Even with script installers, you need to know what you're doing. So far I've seen a vast improvementmoving to Xisto, vs. my old host, in terms of speed, and functionality. One thing I feel they need, though, is to add a link in cpanel to show you all your information. I had to look for quite a while to find the name servers, but found them on the forum here. Other than that, It's looking pretty good from my end of the spectrum. So yea, good luck to you, in your endeavors.

  15. Hi Friend,I am new to this forum but i have been in some huge forums by my experience got lots
of things from internet marketing, which will help you get the best profit from your desktop
    computer,,.....
have you ever think of keywords, have you ever find your highly recommended niche KW
for free ...as you thought that it could be happen just with keywords tools which are expensive
    like Keyword elite....
but now i want to show you that you could get your niche KW for your niche market and even
use this tool to find better information of your market all for free which even you couldn't thought
of it.......i.e: know which of your keywords iin your niche have better traffic...less competitor...low
    CPC...and even high CTR....
yes you got all these information from one simple free product...huge....!!! yes absolutely..even you
could find that in what KWs your competitors use an rank for......
but lets talk what it is ....?? this tool is Google Keyword External ....you could reach to the tool ...Free
    Here: https://adwords.google.com/KeywordPlanner

The best way to get your website ranked higher, and come up first on search engines, is to get links incoming (backlinks) to your website.
Not just any links, but links from reputable website (not link farms!). You can enhance this seven-fold by using anchoring when
putting in a link. It's much better to have the words in an article link to a post that has those same words, instead of just typing in an address to
the main website page. Google recognizes this personal touch, and awards you greatly for building excellent backlinks!

  16. it's dumb, i mean if everyone get's their own copy of WOW... why can't someone setup a server for free use be made available?
blizzard's EULA for WOW is really stupid and selfish... maybe if they were offering the game copies for FREE and make their money through Online Service would be fair...

but they are really making big time bucks on WOW, their most successful product so far

While I wish they were more free, and open with their policies (like diablo II was) wow cost blizzard around 800 Million so far, between upkeep,
expansions, patches, and the initial 5 years before the game came out in 2004. Now I know they have made fortunes off of it, but it's intended to
be a pay for service only video game. Quite honestly though, this expansion (cataclysm) is lacking for my taste, so to me, I simply won't pay, or play that.
Rather play things like Just Cause II, or something equally entertaining.

Still though, just because a company makes millions, billions, or trillions, doesn't mean you can steal from them, no matter what the company is.
The service only 15 bucks a month, and it's just the fact that they have an insane amount of subscribers - that's where they get their income. Between
that, and transfers / changes / etc. If blizzard had started out bad, they would have ended up like many other "dust in the wind" massively multi-player online role playing games.
It's the truth that stands out - Blizzard created an awesome game. Better than anyone had ever seen, or imagined. It was smooth, fluid, completely open world. These guys poured their
hearts and souls into this project for 5-6 years, before it was ever purchasable. Not to mention spent around 86 million in costs (just on wow) before it ever hit store shelves. (ouch)
This game was not easy, and not cheap to make - not by a long shot. And yes, now Blizzard gets rich, because they worked hard, and put out an epic product that everyone wanted
    to buy. ;)

While wow is their most successful, Blizzard has been making games since the 80's under the company "silicon and synapse" and they built an entire company from making gameboy games, and
a few Nintendo games (lost vikings). They were successful at making the first, second, third warcraft, and then surpassed that by making wow. Starcraft I, and Starcraft II are big, big sports in Korea, and many other countries. People get paid to play it, and they show it on many channels in Korea alone. It's the top sport there. Then we have my favorite - the Diablo Series. The Diablo series was
actually created by a company named "Condor Games" and they showed their starting work on the first Diablo, to Blizzard, to help them get published as a game, and on store shelves. Blizzard worked
with them, in collaboration, to get their project looking good, and to Blizzard's publishers (they had another company handle their stuff back then). Well when the first project was looking like a masterpiece (Diablo I) Blizzard purchased Condor Games, and renamed them to "Blizzard North". Just like all of the Starcraft, and Warcraft series of games, Diablo I was selling like hotcakes. It was the same exact thing for Diablo II, and now they're almost complete with Diablo III - which will be the new "wow" this year (hopefully). Although Diablo III isn't created by the main designers of the first, and second one, It still has that sharp
Blizzard's shiny polish, and the game play looks fantastic!

This company has gone through quite a bit, and still is very strong, because they're good at what they do. They have the best artists, coders, designers in the world (give or take).
Even though this company makes a ton of money, a majority of that goes to the stockholders, and they would shut the doors on the company if margins fell too much, even if they're
still making decent profit. We don't want that to happen.

  17. problem with router to a broadband.

    Broadband Modem Sharing

    <p> hello,,</p>

<p>I am connected to the internet using a broadband..My problem is, I want to setup two computers using a router..My computer is a laptop and the other one is a desktop.I tried to setup this two computers,I connected the broadband the WAN of the router, then I connected the two computers to the router using a crossover cable. But it didnt work...Please help me...I don't know what to do...</p>

    <p>thanks;;; </p>

    -reply by jrey_haze

    <p> </p>

You need to plug your router into the modem, and the modem has a coax cable cord running into the wall. You can't use a crossover cable with a router. That's only for pc to pc connections.

Running an internet connection (no matter how fast it really is) through another computer is absolutely horrible. That main computer has to "compute" all the information is pass through,

thereby slowing the process (and your speed) down considerably. Routers have built in cpu's and ram to handle the load. Also, read the little booklet that came with the router =)

You may need to visit 192.168.1.1 or whatever web address your router is at (its usually posted on the bottom of the router, and yes, you use a web browser to get to the interface) and

    set up your router.

Also, to the person who was asking about using 2 modems on one cable broadband line - You cannot do this! Routers are special for a reason!

When running 2 modems on one cable line, it will scramble the signals, because broadband can only accept one modem signal & communication.

It would be like 2 people in different languages talking to you at the same time.

Routers don't screw up the line though, because they "route" the information, to whichever computer requested it.

They take your one IP address and mask and split it up, so everyone gets a piece of the pie.

Doing the whole, crossover this, and rigging that, is just making a makeshift router(crappy one at that), when you could just simply buy one, and save yourself the problem.

It's not like they're that expensive.

  18. First off, there is no such thing as "legal" that would have to do with the law, since were an end-user (and unless your copy-writing).Against a companies rules is not the same thing as being illegal with the law. But yes, private servers are completely against Blizzard'sEULA - and they can, and will ban your main account on their servers for doing that. Private servers get shut down all the time, because blizzard's lawyers go after them. Next time, it would be good to read your EULA (end-user licensing agreement), insteadof guessing. =)

  19. maybe your above logo with more music feeling to it... maybe some musical notes/icons floating about... or it would be awesome if you create a flash logo if possible ;)
how about an idea for your Title/Heading

    United in Music
    Music in Unity
    Music Together

I dunno, I feel like you can't read anything when you have icons thrown all over. I like
to keep it clean, stylish, and not too gaudy. To each his own, I say =)
I did try it with a few different types of musical notes, but notes are stick-like.
Just like the m and u, etc in the music lettering, but it was too stick-cluttered.

Edit: Yay my edit button came back!

  20. I'm using Photoshop 7 and I want to make my own background. I'm learning how to do some neat things with it now. My question is, once I open up a new file, what size do I make it so that every person who visits my site will be able to view it correctly? I know people don't all have the same screen resolution, so what do I do? I want to make a banner too and am having the same dilema. Do I just make it one size, like 800x600 then have to do some kind of code to make sure it looks good for everyone? If so, can someone please tell me how it goes?

Either get, or make a small square background image (5x5 or smaller, no actual photos, just use textures, or flat color), and then code your background to repeat that image (make sure the squares look decent together).
Using a flat image background is a no-no generally speaking. It's a huge picture, that has to load with all the other things on the website, thereby slowing it down.
Imagine if 1000 people had to load that same image on every screen. Exactly.

Meanwhile, repeating the background is like loading a small 5x5 square, and telling the browser to repeat and fill in all the white space with the same one small image.

  21. I prefer desktop, because:A) They're cheaper, when purchased;) If something goes out, you can just replace that part, unlike a laptop. C) Harder for someone to steal it, as it's heavier, bulkier, requires more that one trip, when hauling it, and there's spaghetti wires everywhere. D) I don't worry if i spill water, accidentally, into my keyboardE) No worry of dropping itAnd many more!
