I need to know peoples opinion what they would prefer - carpet or wood (or laminate)

Obviously i prefer Hardwood. I think carpeting is more high maintenance and also I just love the look of wood. I like a beautiful rug if I have anything on my wood.

I recommend Home Depot contractors.I have found their prices are OK..not great.And quality is typical too..the one advantage,as i learned,was if something goes wrong Home Depot will try and make things right where if you contract directly with the contractor..they may or may not try and work out a solution with you.

I was always thinking paying money for very expensive furniture is not right and i still thing this way too, just when i see people giving very huge monies to get some furniture which seems to make their home beautifuler, i just get mad. there are many peoples around the world leaving alone in their home and the number of them is just increasing when years pass by. so when they are alone probably they get a small house not a big one and so small houses doesn't come with a huge saloon for placing a set of furniture in it. of course every chair or table you use in your house is a furniture but when i hear the word of "Modern Furniture", i just imagine a house with huge rooms (each room above 20 square of meters) and so much empty spaces, just like a 20 square of meters bedroom with a lot of free space a drawer and a leather like chair with a big bed in middle of it and sometimes a table for pc or laptop, i think this is waste of energy (i will not say waster of space because i think having not so crowded room is an advantage for not being a stressful mankind), because you have to use so much of energy for heating that huge house and when you are alone it is really scary to be in a huge house and when you go for a small house then just those modern decoration doesn't fit your room because of not having empty space, then you have to place all of your furniture beside each other and that will not be stylish and you can decide to not to use any of them (just like not using a table for writing in bedroom).
So i think modern life is in opposition with modern furniture, i think paying for someone to come and see your house as a decorator and suggest you a furniture is just wasting of money, there are many software which will do the job for you and some of them are opensource too, just google and you will find them, you have just to draw the map of your house with limitations you need to be implemented in map like places you want to be empty or using special thing in it. i know that a kids room needs to be funny and colorful but sometimes when you go to buy a kid furniture you find some high price tags which are just too high for buying, i think the price for furniture is high only because of number of its selling, a shop selling two or three sets of furniture with 4 peoples working in it just says the story, how much profit they have to make for not closing their shop? easily you will find the answer why furnitures are just too expensive, by the way there are many cheap ones too but not maybe too modern, a chair for you to sit can be vary from even 10$ until a 1 with unlimited zeros in front of it, but when you go to a shop and just say i want a modern one then the price goes above 100$ for only a chair, so when you want a set you have to sell your house . i don't think there is too much difference between a modern furniture and a normal one, modern ones are built more precise and better colored but just doesn't worth. i suggest you to buy the cheapest one because they will just do the job exactly as the modern and expensive ones do.

Yeah I agree with your views.On the contrary If people really concentrated on the needy things there will be shortage of fishing poles.
