I'm using namecheap for some of my domain registration needs. Namecheap is secure and they don't attack your brand for their own purpose. This is the reason i'm using their service for protecting my contact information. They're also offering that protection for free. Some of the extra services like DNS, redirection and few other services are offered for free here. Go daddy is another registrar which i used here personally. I found their service very decptive because they charge recursively without notifying you at all. So that is the reason i use other registrars to protect my funds. Go daddy can be configured from using your auto renewal feature but it's not off by default. Hence the issues with the service. Then there is domain registration service from xisto. They charge very high price for the domains. You are required to pay 14.28$ if youre asian user and 12.95 if you're an overseas user. I think this is the reason it is costing me more sum than others. I wish to get a better cheap registrar once i resolved some financial issues with the hosting. Once that is done then i can get any host and another domain registration. But till then i'm stuck here with this registrar. They're not bad but i need to get much cheap host for my domains and hosting space as well.

I use Xisto as my registrar of domain, Xisto staff is quite supportive and answers most of the questions and it's easy to manage the domain.

Really ? i have one support ticket pending on Xisto - Support. I asked them to update wordpress or in general fantastico scripts on gamma server. But there is no reply. I asked them that question because there are some wordpress security issues lately. None of the the sites that hosted on xisto had ability to autoupdate from the dashboard. SO I had to use the plugin to host my sites.
But another issue with them was the files were not writable and made it dificult for me to make wordpress auto update. So i honestly asked them to update wordpress on this server till i get another host. But in return they didn't responded to my query. In fact they lowered the priority of my query and ignored it as well. I can even give you ticket name if you wish to inquire. Xisto is not what they used to be earlier. I can tell you that they might even lower mycent value for me in forums or don't update them for me at all for speaking the truth. I can see that they're not interested in providing good support for old members. I don't know when i'll be able to move to another host completely but when i do then i guess i may even move every domain and service to another site. Till then i have to tolerate this registrar and hosting. Hope they don't remove me from services till that point.

In asia, you're allowed to charge service tax for users of about 10.3% on all internet and off the internet services. I'm from asia and this service xisto or Xisto is also from asian owner. This is the reason my bill reflects extra fees for the service whereas non-asians get their price at about 12.95$. You'll see this change when you order and view your bill in xisto control panel. Its also available for you to view at later date. Basically fees are domain price which is 10.15$ per top level domain name. Top level domain name includes .com, .net and .org domain names. Extra fee from the certificate registrar is 1.25% and it is 1.99 dollar for almost every new domain registered via this system. So you get domain priced at roughly 12.95$. If you're asian or falls in taxable region for xisto services then extra dollar is also applied to you. So your fees go up high again you get about 14.28 or so fee per domain from xisto. In case of hosting these fees are likely to vary because it is dependent on which package is selected. I found 2$ or so charge which is non-existent if you're from US.

I don't think it applies to kiwis or australians because they're not exactly into asian continent and they're not under this taxable region. We know few folks from that region in another community where mycents are running by xisto and they never had that issue with extra tax. So i guess you're pretty much exempt from it. Take that 99.99% chance that this will not apply to you at all. You can continue to post and make calculated posts which brings you 12.95 or so dollars for the domain or hosting charges. Basic hosting charges goes to say 26-28 dollars. You can now calculate registrar fees total along with hosting for your posting and earning mycents. I hope that helps.

Almost every thing that you order online and offline has that tax. For example if you order any electronics from amazon.com (US) and get that in india or say sri lanka/pakistan. Then you'll pay more than 10% of the tax. Most of the electronics stuff also requires separate plugs to draw power from because plug standards are also different in asia. Take example of IPad which costs 599$ US and in india or pakistan that amount goes to - 27,000 Rupees(India) and 40,000(Rupees/pakista) after normal conversion. But they also add sales tax, foreign exchange tax and other import duty tax, gift tax, benefit tax and what not. So the amount adds to 20-30,000 more bucks to current amount after conversion. So if you check ebay shop in india or pakistan, sri lanka then cost of 599$ dollar IPAD is usually 50,000 or 60,000 local bucks. You can guess how expensive is that. In case of hosting, asian hosting is 5 times the cost of US based hosting. So most of the time asians prefer hosting from foreign countries. You can guess what is the reason behind that. Even though host like hostgator is in india, they'll charge huge fees for tax when they let users to buy local hosting. In case of xisto, you'll find that servers are shared with psychz or purchased from psychz (dedicated server) and the owner of xisto is using reseller panel to give us hosting. SO that way we're using US based servers but still owner can charge asians for his service in asian taxes. This is the current picture of the hosting and taxes. Hope this helps you get the picture.
