Choosing Which Connection Filesharing Should Use

Recommended Posts

i have two machines running windows xp connected to a wireless router/modem... the two machines are also connected through Ethernet... now when the two machines (PC A and PC ;) aren't connected through Ethernet, file sharing is still possible through wireless, when wireless isn't on, they share files through connected Ethernet cables...my question is: when both connections are on... can i control which connection to use for transferring files between the machines?for example, i want to copy large movie files from PC A to PC B but it goes real slow because i think it's using the wireless connection.... can i assign the sharing on one particular connection/media so the transfer can go through the Ethernet? thanks for your help...

This should be easy if you know the IP address of the remote system.
With command line it looks like :

net use * AAA.BBB.CCC.DDD\mythings /user:myname
Of course, the same thing can be done with the mouse-click things, simply give the IP instead of the machine name.
