Did You Buy An Ipad ? Or not yet ? Or never ?

Recommended Posts

The Iphone was rather successful, a lot of people know that, now, if they could change, they would switch to Iphone. Now comes the Ipad, which is slightly different, but still rather similar.Iphone had a lot of things for people who do not use their phone for phonecalls. Now comes the Ipad, which is absolutely not a telephone, but has a rather big screen and looks like the Iphone non-phone features. So, my question is now : Did you finally buy it ?If not, is it a matter of money ?I did not buy it, and will not buy it, first of all because of it's price, and secondly because it needs a special subscription, which is completely apart from your phone subscription. So, twice more money to go out each month! So, I will stick to my PC, one at home, one at work, and one in each friend's home, and no Ipad. And you, please tell us, which is your opinion concerning that ?RegardsYordan

ipad is a fancy toy from apple which lacks some useful features like support for flash. also the restrictions placed on it do not make it very attractive option to buy. if i had the money to buy the ipad, i would seriously consider buying another tablet which has more features than it. of course it is your choice whether to buy it or not, and all apple products are special in their own way :) the ipad however seems to be a bad experiment which was released before it was completed.

I didn't bought an iPad and won't ever buy it :)I don't see any reason or point to use it, so it's out of a question for me. I also doubt it will be as popular as iPod or iPhone? or maybe? :DI don't even have an iPhone as it's not a comfortable phone for me, it has to many options, all I want my cell phone is to call and get sms, even though I have sony ericsson which is able to play mp3, has a camera and all that stuff, but I don't really need those features, but they exist :P

Unless they offer multitasking feature in ipad it's not even worth to buy it for 300 bucks. Instead few more bucks and people can get a mult-tasking laptop and that would be wise investment in my opinion. Other than that there is going to be improvement for the ipad series but unless there is some mult-taking capability people will find it limited. It's good for movie watching and browsing but if you want it for blogging and other heavy usage then ipad is not for you. I find it really hard that people think it's worth for buying without thinking that they can't use it as heavy as they use laptop or their desktop.

one thing seems to be sure that it will never be as popular as the iPhone, let alone the iPod. apple really needs to rethink their strategy to include new and more useful features in the iPad. mere marketing won't help sell their product if there's nothing in it.

i find that i don't use many features in my cell-phone too :) i mostly use it for messaging, surfing the net, and the occasional call too :D for everything else i have my handy laptop so buying high-end phones seems a bit pointless to me right now.

$300 is indeed a steep price for a product which doesn't perform most of the functions that a basic laptop would. just because it looks attractive it doesn't mean that it is a good buy. right now it is not available in all countries and im sure it won't do as well as it is in the US (if the sales in the US can be called good!). americans have good spending power so they are open to trying out products like this, and especially when a company like apple brings out something it is sure to get good sales initially, and when the initial excitement wears off, the true value of the product is known. in this case, the iPad is an average device which offers nothing much promising. people in other countries who don't have very good spending power will definitely think twice or even thrice before buying such a thing. so i think it is not going to be a hit internationally.

@yordan: you said you won't get the iPad, and yet you have started a thread asking people whether or not they will buy it. so somewhere deep within you may be having an interest for the iPad and given a chance i think you would like to try it out. this sort of interest is there in a lot of people and thats why the initial sales of the iPad seemed to look really good. but there are people who think like you do, especially the subscription part and this will discourage them from making their move and getting the device.

i think the best thing to do would be to wait for a while to see for any useful upgrade that may come for the iPad, or otherwise there is always the option to go for a similar tablet from one of the other leading companies. everyone seems to be coming out with their own tablet PC so looking at one of these could be a good idea.

i think you would like to try it out

You are right, I would like to try it. At least a couple of minutes. I don't feel it as a thing that should be part of myself. But it could be an interesting experience.
Absolutely off-topic, I would like to try quite a lot of things I will probably not able to taste : drive a Ferrari on a road without speed limit, drive downtown an electric car, or ride a dolphin for instance.

It's not about spending power or spending habits. It's about what the thing company is offering. Many reviews from people is US is not that positive about ipad. Many people are turned off with ipad's missing multi-tasking feature and word processing usage which is not possible with current release of ipad. So that is one reason i think that ipoad should be redesigned and price should be updated. Current ipad just looks like a device that is trying to compete with amazon kindle and get more customers for that. I don't think its worth to compete with such small device. I'm waiting for microsoft's surface release before even thinking of purchasing or touching ipad seriously for use.

I would wouldnt buy one, a: programming goes in objective c, and I really don't care to learn the language. Its a computer with severely limited applications, so that takes it more out of the running. Apple runs massive DRM, they even do that over the programs you make for the thing. With new tablets coming out from companies like ASUS, that run fully non-restrictive operating systems that are easy to overwrite, I'd go with them, if I wanted such a thing.

Objective-C is quite a good language, besides it got much much popular when apple started using it, even the tiobe ratings got it in Top 10 most popular languages this year as I remember, before it was a quite unpopular language. I also like the fact, that apple does not support flash ;]By TIOBE ratings:In June 2009 it was in the 45 position, but Today in June 2010 it in the 9 position :) So it's really getting popular ;]
